Details Pane - Cannot Modify Music Rating And Stuff
Jan 8, 2013
Win 8 Enterprise x64, non local administrator user.
I can not change music's rating or other stuff from details pane. In local administrator user I can. Should I change my account type? Also the music is at external HDD.
I have a Sony Vaio Fit 15E running Windows 8.1 Pro. In the computer properties, I went to refresh my System Rating but I noticed that it wasn't there. Before I had done a clean install of windows, it was there but after installing Windows it wasn't
My WEI score just disappears as it shown on the picture
I had this problem since Vista but it also appears on Windows 8.When this problem is present when I check for updates it is not showing the updates - just a blank screen and I cannot see which are the updates.
I don`t know if it is related but estimated usage on my Wifi connection is also not present.
I have already deleted the content of WinSAT/DataStore and run the following command Winsat formal -restart clean - the result is shown on the above picture.
Processor : 3.8 Memory : 4.7 Graphics : 6.7 Gaming : 6.7 Hard Disk : 5.9
I didn't identify where the shit had happened in my pc.
Note : I am a developer and also little gamer. I use Eclipse SDK, Android SDK, Linux. I am Developing android on system since 4 months. Will this is the cause ?
I am trying out Xbox Music and a Lumia 920. I am downloading songs from Xbox Music and creating playlists, but it never shows up Windows 8 desktop. When I add songs and playlists on my desktop, they show up on the Lumia 920.
Using the Windows 8.1 music app, I have properly setup my library to load from my second HDD, but it only loads 80 artists out of over 120. All my music is properly tagged and in Artist/Year - Album/ folder format.
I deleted my music from my music app and cannot re-add it. The files were added automatically the first time, but now the app won't add them. Can I refresh the cache for the music app or what can I do?
I recently migrated to Windows 8. My music collection stumbled along the way and I had to re-fetch artwork for a few albums in WMP. I also set it up in iTunes. My default app for MP3s is WMP. As you can see below, artwork only appears when in the folder view (which somewhat defeats the purpose of libraries in the first place). I'd prefer to sort them by artist, with album art displayed without a folder, as it should and as it did in Windows 7.
Art appears in folder view but not artist or album view.
On a related note, I recently added many new MP3s to my collection. When I opened Xbox Music for the first time afterwards, it seemed to be downloading art to add it to my older albums, all of which have art. Then the process was somehow interrupted. I believe I closed the app. Then, when I opened it again, none of them had art.
I had recently replaced my HDD with SSD, So I had backed up & erased all the personal files including music, videos etc from respective folders, Actually there is no files other than system files, programs, softwares in the SSD now, I had done disk cleanup, defrag , clearing of temp, prefetch folders etc before starting the cloning everything from HDD to SSD,
After replacement, now I could see all my collection of songs/music in the Now Playing section of Music App (Modern app), No music files are actually present for me to locate in any of the folders when I go through for explorer,
I'm not able to play the music files by clicking it from Music App , & when I delete it from there by right clicking it - temporarily goes away but returns when i close the App and opens it again..
I had unchecked & checked the indexing option in the Music folder (File Explorer) - properties & restarted system, checked, But still all the music files are listed in the App, how to clear the music file listings from the Music app permanently which are not really present in the system?
I am looking forward to 10/18 and getting the Win 8.1 update from the Store to update my Win 8 machine. I wonder if doing the update will modify the partition that is labeled Window Recovery on my HD. I suspect not.
Just got a new pc that has W8, came from XP. I have a popcorn hour NMT with an internal HDD that I have networked and was working fine with my old pc. The drive is mapped and is visible in windows explorer and I can even upload files to it with Filezilla. When I try to modify a file through w explorer it shows the drive as read only. Below is what I have tried so far and nothing seems to work.
-Installed "take ownership" program -Enabled hidden administrator account -Tried to take ownership through properties/security/advanced -Change permissions in properties (goes through all of the files and unchecks read only but when I close and open it again read only is checked)
For some reason I can't seem to get a full administrator account to work. I am the only user of the pc and I have an administrator account but it's standard.
I currently have everything (windows 8 login, Xbox live, etc) linked to a myname@gmail.com account. I want to switch it all over to myname@outlook.com. How can i do this?
I was able to move skydrive and my Windows login, but I can't move my xbox account
Maintain Stuff as Migrate from Windows 7 to 8.1 So, when I moved from XP to Win 7 (late compared to most), I hear and read about Easy Transfer etc.
I figured the best was to figure out the FILE, FOLDER and PATHs for IMPORTANT things I wanted to CONSERVE.
If possible migrate PROGRAMS as THEY ARE.
XP32 > Win7x64 Migrate Settings Data: Chrome+Extn, Outlook+iTunes+App? - Windows 7 Now from XP > 7, a lot of paths changed.. Documents & Settings vs Users info, Local and other date.. Pretty much for every Program / Application.
Outlook was one drama, iTunes was other, Office another, WLMail another and so on.
Now, I am guessing there are some TOOLS or Simple Win 8.1 Upgrade that can be run on Win 7x64 Ultimate.. and there is..
.. Manual CURATING FILES, FOLDERS and PATHS and CONFIGURATIONS for Windows and Non-Windows thingies. (I did that XP .. > 7.. mapping big time.. and it was great.. but tiring to prepare the list and instructions)
Exhaustive MAPPING LIST.. that allows me to ensure BY HAND, everything was taken bit for bit.
I've used RichCopy, RoboCopy and TeraCopy in CONJUNCTION.. extensively before. Its just takes a lot of time, energy and attention to detail. "Easy transfer" resets folder modified date
I ran into a problem today where I entered in some details incorrectly to a hidden wireless network profile and then discovered that MS have removed the Wireless Network Manager so I couldn't delete or correctly configure that network as it would not get listed in the metro wireless interface.
After digging around on my machine I've discovered the wireless profiles are stored in
C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWlansvcProfilesInterfac es
Where the first sub folders list guides for respective wireless devices on you machine which contains xml files pertaining to the wireless profiles for the respective wireless devices. it seems same to manually delete the files or edit.
How can I modify an Windows 8.1 ISO so it can work with a non-supported CPU? I would like to make it work with a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz HT Northwood CPU. Rest of specs; 2GB RAM, ATI 4650 DDR3 1GB, 250GB HDD. Computer is a SONY VAIO PCV-RS430G. I updated its BIOS to latest which dates back to 2004 but did not add the NX/PAE that is needed for Win 8.1
Word documents open, but I can't delete, move, or open anything like pictures and media.
It says the file is damaged, windows can't read it, or it's corrupted.
I can't move any programs/stuff to a new folder, or the screen flashes dark blue then back again, with nothing changed
If I delete something, again, blue screen flash, nothing changes. If I delete something while editing a picture (ex: selecting part of the picture then pressing "delete" key), nothing happens (Paint.NET - doubt this issue is from them).
My temp folder is extremely messed up as well. Link to my temp folder [URL] ....
I just installed windows 8 and thought everything was fine. But then when I went to download a driver from the internet, I figured out it really isn't. I have Atheros AR8151 gigabit network adapter installed in my Sony Vaio, and it had been disabled automatically, I had to download driver from its own site and install it. After that it didnt get disabled on its own and when I could finally access internet, I was shocked once again.
I tried to download a bluetooth driver from Sony's website but no matter what browser or download manager I tried to download it from, it wouldn't I thought it was limited to just that website and went on to download another driver but it wouldn't either. On chrome it would start as usual download and eventually decrease the speed until the error was shown, while the download speed was going down, the ETA and downloaded size didn't change.
And while using Firefox it started the download as usual but after a while it would freeze and i had to press pause and play to get it downloading but the freezing thing happened too much(chrome wouldn't respond to pause and play). Then i tried a download manager and it showed similar problem as Firefox. The thing is I can browse the internet perfectly fine although it feels a bit slow, the problem is i cant download anything.
On my laptop I have my microsoft account and everything set up and I have just started online schooling but when I go to the campus every few weeks i cant use their internet because i dont have a computer on their domain thing and I want to be able to join their domain but don't want it to affect my current setup.
So if i connect to their domain will it modify my current account or give them access to my current accounts files???
I'm setting up for the first time a Homegroup (on Windows 8.1) between laptop and desktop. So far, Im impressed with the speed of transmission from one computer to the other. However, I noticed that I can only access the C: drive as well as the Library stuff such as Music, Pictures, Desktop, Downloads, etc folders. I would like to be able to access from my laptop the OTHER DRIVES on my desktop PC. What's the best way to do this?
My previous OS was Windows 7 64-bit. I used rip my favorite music tracks and was able to edit the details in the Details tab of the Properties window after right-clicking on the file name. The system hardware is the same. OS is now Windows 8 64-bit. But when I open the mp3 file's property window and go to the details tab, I get fewer options in detail and I CANNOT edit any one of them. I have run sfc - no problem. I have opened the Explorer as Administrator and still the same issue. Here's the screen capture:
I am the sole user of the desktop PC. And that I have another PC at another place with same configuration also running Win 8 64-bit. On that PC for the same file I see more details on the screen and I can edit the fields. I might post the capture from that PC later when I go there. I also ran the mp3Tag to get over the possible issue with ID3 tags.
Can I remove the "Last Printed" detail from file properties->details somehow. Managed to remove all other details but this, and I need to make a clean file with the information inside . Is there any way I can do this?
I made the mistake of buying windows 8 assuming it was just windows 7 fixed up, wow was I ever wrong The problem I am trying to solve at this moment is I set my folders to show medium icon view and no matter what it always reverts back to details (default view) I have reset all folders and applied to all folders but it changes back. The same thing happens for example.....
I like to see file extensions but it changes by itself ,it is strange that sometime it will keep my changes for a time but it will always go back to default. I have also gone back to the factory setting 3 times thinking I did something wrong cuz one time I couldn't get the preview pane (pain) or the navigation pane to remove. The only thing Im using at the moment that didn't come with the system is the Classic Shell Windows 8. My OS is windows 8 X64. I have always tweaked the system I was running at work or home but this OS doesn't wanna cooperate at all.
I'd prefer to have details for all folders. It looks like I found a solution for the annoying auto changing of folder types:
Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00;This registry script has been made by Vishal Gupta - AskVG.com[-HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellBags][HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellBags][HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellBagsAllFolders][HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellBagsAllFoldersShell]"FolderType"="NotSpecified"
But I also want the view to stay details even if I change it in explorer's view menu to look at something. In this case currently the setting is immediately saved somewhere and next time I get that view. I want it to show details the next time I visit it...
(I have also disabled thumbs.db and desktop.ini via registry settings.)
I find it annoying when I use windows Explorer to browse my files and see folders where my files are not displayed in 'Details'-view. (Other views are: Icons, Tiles, Content etc...)
How do I set up Windows 8 so that it always displays all foders in the 'Details' -view
Some time ago I replaced an IDE hard drive with Windows 8 installed for an SSD drive onto which I installed Windows 7. I would like to know if I can temporarily swap back to the IDE drive (Windows 8) while I obtain the Windows Product Key (embedded in BIOS apparently) and then replace the SSD drive (Windows 7), or boot from an external docking station and if so how do I do that?I am totally confused about the BIOS. Does a different OS change the BIOS details?
how to delete music from music app i delete all my music from my pc but when ever i open the music app it stream my music back wth i want to delete everything start from scratch
What I am trying to do is sort my favorites for the IE10 app. So far there seems to be no way to manually arrange the favorites so what I tried to do was change the sort in the favorites folder under C/USERS/myname etc. I was going to add a 1 to the detail tab in the file properties but I get an error message reading "You need to provide administrator permission to apply properties to this file." If I select continue the message reads "You need permission to perform this action" "You require permission from MEMe to make changes to this file"
I am the only user and set up as the system administrator. I have tried completely disabling UAC and installed "Take Ownsership" Nothing has allowed me to do this. Now my problem is there is no reason why I can't add a 1 to the detail description to a file for sorting. What harm could possibly come from editing that field. Most importantly, if I am the system administrator why am I fighting for permission from myself?
I recently used IOBit uninstaller to remove all traces of a program from the registry. I'm assuming it removed something that caused this issue, because after I used it all my program information in Add/Remove programs was missing. However, other users on my PC show all information in Add/Remove programs. Is there a way to repopulate this or would I have to create a new user?
Win 7 was easy to make all your folders show details view and not what windows thought you should view it as.
I can't find a way to do that in Win 8. I have googled it many times and all attempts have failed. I have changed several folders to details view only to have them revert back to what windows wants me to view them as.
I would like to do this for all my folders and libraries, which I understand may not work for libraries.
Is there a registry setting I can set to force all views to be detail view?
