View 1 RepliesI accidentally deleted the entire My Pictures folder from my library. How do I get it back? I was trying to delete an album and it deleted the entire library of pictures. My photos are still in the Windows 8 library just not the My folders library.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAll my items in picture library are gone from my hard drive. not in recyle bin i have scanned using recover software and they are all listed when I go to photo app displays photos then says they are not accessible. How this happened folder option is not hidden, I search hard drive for .jpg .mov files and nothing! yet they can be seen by scanning using recover software.
How I can recover files that i now cannot access!!! totally baffled how this happened.
I'm using Windows 8 x64, all updated, which had been working without problem for about 8 months now.
I noticed my internel card reader drives (9 pin USB header) kept disappearing and reappearing quickly, in both My Computer, and Device Manager. So I assumed it was dying and bought a new one, but it too did the same thing, so assumed it must be the USB connecter dying, and left it unplugged, and orderd an external card reader (yet to arrive).
Sadly my USB flash drives and USB hard drives started doing the same thing, front and back ports, these drives will disappear and reappear a few times then work as normal, weird thing is my USB printer, mouse, keyboard, and Sansa Clip+ work fine.
I tried testing in WinPE v4, and Linux (Ubuntu LiveCD) and everything seems to be working fine, including the internel card reader. So I reinstalled Windows 8 after trying fixes like uninstalling the USB Root entries in Device Manager, and messing with the USB power saving options in Windows, even though they're at the defaults and never caused problems before, but the internel card reader was doing the same thing again before even doing any updates, or installing drivers.
I have found a workaround for the reader, if I disable it within Device Manger before putting a card in, and then enabling the device it works, but once ejected it goes back to disappearing and reappearing again.
The PC is a Dell Inspiron 531.
I recently deleted a user account, and clicked yes to also delete all associated files...the user was successfully deleted, however, the user's folders/files remain, and cannot be deleted. Is it possible to associate that user's folder with a new user's login? If not, what needs to be done in order to delete the remaining user folder?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWent to my desktop and tried to look at for a picture. Got this instead...
Applies to pictures, video, documents, music, everything. It is all still there...I am so confused. Seems like there was an update recently.
having ordered a new sound card and speaker set, I've been thinking of gradually upgrading my MP3 collection to FLAC. I also still have a Zune HD, which I wasn't planning on replacing, which doesn't play FLAC. To this end I'd keep a MP3 copy of the flac collection for Zune to sync to the HD.
Now the problem: Windows media player and Zune both look in the same folder for their media library!! So I can't tell WMP to look at the FLAC while having Zune look at the MP3 using the standard music library in windows... Is there a way to have either program look at a different folder than the standard library?
I don't know when it happened, although I suspect it could be due to the last set of updates I downloaded.. All I know is that for some reason, I cannot access my library folders.
Double clicking on the folders does absolutely nothing. I get no errors of any kind either. This is what I've done so far to try and fix the problem:
1) chkdsk /spotfix (no bad sectors found)
2) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (the component store corruption was repaired, whatever that means)
3) sfc /scannow (all files verified successfully)
4) Deleted library folders and then reset to default (did not work)
5) Windows 7 library registry fix (did not work)
None of these worked, and I'm at my wits end. I can still access the actual information, by going to C:Users. But I'd still like to be able to use the library function.
I just upgraded to W8P and can't figure out how to quickly access Library to get to Music, Pictures, etc. which I do frequently. With W7 it was two clicks on the Start button. I've created a Computer tile on the Start page to access it, but I'm thinking there must be a better way.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCurrently in the process of locating my "library folders" to my storage drive rather than keeping them on my boot drive. In the process, I made a mistake of somehow syncing my music folder with my pictures folder. Now they open up to the same directory on my storage drive. At the same time, my pictures folder was renamed to Music.
1.) How do I disconnect my original "pictures folder" (which is now renamed to music and is essentially the same folder as my music folder).
2.) How do I rename it back to "pictures" ?
I use snip a lot to use as post attachments and they are saved by default to Pictures.
When I am attaching any pics to posts when I go to Manage attachments it always defaults to Desktop. Is there a way to change this to default to Pictures?
Is it possible to include a map drive folder in the library.

My windows 8 library is not working...
Anyway, I've researched how to delete and then reinstall/program. What I cannot understand is why this library facility has so many awful reviews on the forum, who are slatting this facility and how it eventually clogs up memory with duplicated files.
there are many attempting to disable or totally eradicate it from the computer There is a "registry hack" website for windows 7, which disables the library.
I've used the method 2 from the sevenforums tutorial to include a network folder in the Picture Library. In Windows 7 it works with thumbnails but not in Windows 8.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am not loving windows eight. Slow, clutzy and when I couldn't retrieve any documents after installing scansnap software, I uninstalled all the new software, that didn't work, I tried to restore the computer to an earlier date and it wouldn't restore, said a file was missing. One thing that seems to have an impact is that it initiated a homegroup that wasn't there before. I can't delete or uninstall it and I have no need for it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen booting from his new SSD boot drive, Leo will end up with "errors" on the hard drives that need to be "fixed" IF he accesses any libraries that he set up on his old hard drive still is the computer.
My friend Leo, installed and boots from an SSD I gave him. He loves it. He also like that he can still boot from his old hard drive. If he accesses something via the library links that he had set up tho, it causes Windows 8 to report disk errors on boot that need to be fixed.
How would Leo go about disabling the libraries that he has set up? And is this the real issue for the errors? (Leo says that that he gets no errors unless he accesses something via the libraries).
I have Windows 8.1 and I had the Library icon pinned to my task bar. But I somehow unpinned it. How to get it back?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI don't use WMP, but decided to give it a try as part of a test about some audio cutout and freeze problems with foobar player being discussed in a General Support thread and elsewhere. After adding the ASIO plugin from SourcForge and adjusting settings, I removed the two default locations from the library and added my own music folder. WMP then started to load mine, but after three or four items, the program crashed. On every reopening, it starts to load more of mine, then crashes again within a few seconds.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFile history seemed to be working OK. But then I added a library in Windows Explorer with my Google Drive folder. I don't have much stuff in this folder, less than 1GB. The problem is that File History is not backing up this folder in its backups.
Do I have to delete the file history backup and redo it again every time I add a library? (I haven't tried it but it'd be a nuisance wouldn't it?).
I used the file explorer on desktop to move a bunch of pictures off an external backup drive and into the pictures folder within my pictures library. They now show up under the pictures library in desktop. But the Metro Pictures app insists that there are no pictures in my pictures library.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an extensive video library which I am trying to put onto my computer. I am running windows 8. I have tried lots of programs and nearly all of them fail to produce good quality on the computer. All of them seem to break up and pixelate. I can remove some of the "VOB" files to the computer from the disc but these will not play even on VLC. There are some I want to convert to play on the Galaxy Tab2. I know windows 8 does not have a program to play DVD but I have put VLC in and that plays them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was not able to find the results I needed via Google keywords, I have all my personal files (music, videos, photos, documents) on a separate hard drive so the library folders are directed to the HDD. I was keeping my music specifically on another disc and have now moved the collection onto my files disc so you see the "D:" folder which is the missing music drive directory and I do not know how to delete it.
I need to add a Music folder into the library but do not know how...or change the name of the "D:" folder to "Music" and point it to my the files HDD.
