View 9 RepliesI have been getting many different BSOD crashes. I went ahead and reinstalled Windows 8 to see if it would alleviate the issue with no avail. I installed the fresh drivers from the manufactures page. I have been getting these crashes much more frequently.

I'm running on a Windows 8.1 OS, and recently it keeps getting BSODs before starting up/restarting, but it still manages to get into Windows, and it seems to run normally after that. The error message is something like PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (rtwlane.sys). I have uploaded a minidump file of the most recent BSOD on my OneDrive here.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter my PC has been shutdown for a while (5 hours?), when I turn it back on again I get a BSOD.
If it is turned off for a couple of hours then I don't, everything is fine.
It normally boots up ok to the windows login wall paper, as soon as I click to select a user to login as it crashes.
A reboot normally cures it and I'm and running.
The messages I've been getting include:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
Driver IRQL not less or equal
(I've attached my SF Diagnostics Dump File)....
t i am fed up with the constant error messages since i upgraded to Windows 8.
I have run through several of the suggestions posted here but to no avail.
I have followed the instructions regarding the SF thread and will upload the zip file created.
Windows 8.1, I can reboot, login, and get to the desktop, but then about 2 or 3 minutes later it locks up and crashes with a DPC_WATCHDOG_ERROR.
I am attaching the file from diagnostic tool ....
I'm having BSOD for a few months now. It all started while I still had Windows 7 installed and by that time I did full RAM testing without ever accusing flaws. A month ago I did a clean format of my Disk and installed Windows 8.1 Pro with hopes that things would be better but they aren't.
I've had 6 BSOD since last month, with the first being after 1-2 days after installation (I had hardly anything installed), they all reported different messages and between them I reinstalled drivers with no success at ending them. In addition, all BSOD happened while doing different things or doing nothing (AFK).
If you want any further details besides the zip files attached feel free to ask. ( I inserted both OPTIONS zip files - JLReis.zip (OPTION 1), SFdebugFiles-JL-PC (OPTION 2)).
my computer crashes every time I play any game I have. So, what the problem is from the crash report I have or do I have to do a total reinstall of everything?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been getting the BSOD every time I try to update my computer. The updates that I am trying to apply are mandatory updates, so this happens every week when my computer requires me to update.
The updates being applied are 3
Security for IE, KB 2964444
Security Update for Windows x64 based systems, KB2964757
Update Windows 8.1 for x64 based systems, KB2919355
I have attached the SF file.
I have recently installed fresh Windows 8 on my laptop - HP 6735b. Installation went smooth, it has installed all the drievers on his own, I just installed few more applications and within few days, problems appeared. I'm getting BSOD on startup, but sometimes it starts normaly and after few minutes/hours - BSOD appears.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having this problem since the last 2 days.

Windows restarts every 5 minutes or so.
Responding to an error code while attempting an install of arcgis, I reduced the amount of RAM for startup under msconfig, advanced, boot.ini. Now I get the bsod with error code bad_system_config_info. I can't access Windows in any mode but can get to the black screen command prompt line.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a BSOD after some minutes working on my PC. I'm attaching the SF Diagnostic tool from the last crash.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so yesterday, I was using my laptop (Asus k45vm) and things started getting laggy. It got to the point were I had to restart it and after that was when everything went downhill. I loaded up to the Windows logo and the spinning dots, didn't get further than that. So I restarted again and mashed the f8 key (I later tested out all the keys), laptop scanned and "fixed" the problem. Still didn't work. So then in a fit of rage, I pulled the battery out, it loaded to the logo screen a few times after, but now right after the Asus boot screen, the screen goes black (without any cursor). F8 (and the rest) doesn't work anymore (no more boot screen). But if I wait for 5 min , a blue screen with:Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Date file is missing some required information.
File:BCD
Error Code: 0xc000000d
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have and installation media, contact your system admin or PC manufacturer. And then it shuts down in a minute.
So I created a bootable usb with win 8, Fat 32, uefi and all that , but it still goes to the black screen followed by the error. At this point I doubt that I can get into advanced boot options.
Even though I boot the laptop with the usb plugged in, it still says :You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have and installation media, contact your system admin or PC manufacturer.

Most of the time when my laptop startup i got a BSO with DPC Watchdog. After a phew restarts I can login normally and nothing happens.
When i close the lid for a while and I come back my laptop also is restarted because of a BSOD. Check Logs?
I was getting a few driver IRQL BSOD's when my system was running, I have had it built for about a week now.But now I can't even boot, i get KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and some other errors I believe, after one of these comes up it says prepairing automatic repair then that will also crash and this then loops. I had seen other people saying they solved similar problems by removing the graphics driver in safe mode, but I can't even access safe mode so that made me think it might be a hardware fault.
I don't know how to save the dump file as I can't even get in to windows, can only access the BIOS. I have also tried running the windows disc to access advanced start up options to get in to safe mode but this also gives me a blue screen error.
I have a 4770K and Asus Maximus VI Hero mobo and 4x8GB Corsair RAM
Today I installed a sound card driver called 5Hv2 sound card game. The disc was so small though. At first the setup didn't work due to platform error I think so I ran it under Windows XP SP3 compatibility. So then it works and asked me to reboot the system.
After restarting, the startup was taking longer than usual. The ASUS logo screen stays for about 3-5 minutes then the blue screen appears but it is so fast that I could not see the error message or code. I thought maybe because the cd was still inside so I quickly open the drive and remove the cd. After the blue screen, it restarts automatically then only I can login. I checked the Minidump folder and found nothing. I also used the SF_Diagnostic_Tool and Grab All but no Minidump file.
I thought maybe the drivers of the 5Hv2 sound card was not compatible on my laptop but it works. I use my Siberia headset and use the sound card with no problem. But I wonder what's the issue here, I don't want another blue screen when restarting.
I've been getting kernel security check failure BSODs after keeping my computer on for a few hours. I am unable to fix it on my own.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer would randomly restart very rarely. Today it started happening frequently and saying there is a problem with your PC. I figured enough out on how to get the Memory Dumps so here is a link to those. Currently running windows 8 pro.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHave attached the SF diagnostic zip.
My system is Windows 8.1, Samsung notebook, i7, 8gb RAM and 1tb hard-drive.
I updated the Intel Rapid Storage Driver but no improvement in situation of BSOD on waking up from sleep. Basically, the screen/desktop is visible and I can move the cursor and try to double click on programs, before getting the BSOD (collecting errors and restarting) screen.
I always do 'full shutdowns' /have disabled fast startup. Have also disabled some startup apps such as google updater and a couple others but the laptop is still taking around 3 minutes to boot with no HDD light activity for a couple of minutes (is this normal when fast startup is disabled???). Shut downs /entering sleep mode are swift.
On another note, Synaptics driver isn't installing and I was told that would work (for some reason) but that may not be relevant.
I don't know how it happens, no errors And i have a Acer Aspire X3470. My PC beeps too.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to deal with a BSOD problem that resulted from KERNEL_CHECK_SECURITY_FAILURE (or something along those lines). I did some research and got it could be the RAM, HDD, or Drivers.
Scanning the RAM for 16 hours gave me two errors on test 10, passes 1 & 9. Testing the sticks individually found nothing, testing both slots found nothing. I can only assume those were false positives.
Next, I tried driver verifier. Boom. Instant crashes. Now, disabling it, I have the minidump file. Which driver is causing this problem?
I get BSOD once in a while during startup with "Kernel Data Inpage Error". I did chkdsk /f /r and tried memory diagnostic. got a positive result also did a clean install of windows but still getting BSOD. I've attached the files.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been suffering a high volume of BSODs - both before and after I switched hard drive last week.
I'm getting Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error on almost every first startup. In addition, I often get a Page Fault in Unpaged Area BSOD when gaming (primarily Max Payne 3) - dxgmms1.sys has been referenced on more than one of these occasions.
Dump file log (hopefully attached).
So my laptop has been getting multiple BSOD errors during or shortly after startup. I let my roommate download and play WoW and Ventrillo. And the issues started shortly after, first with the game simply crashing and escalating into the computer itself not working correctly. I figured the best place to start since it didn't have much stuff on it was to just put my stuff I needed on a USB and do a factory reset. Which seemed to make no change. I have run memtest once for four passes and it found no errors.
I can remember a few of the errors I have been getting.
Bad Pool Header
Memory Management
IRQL not less or equal
Kernal Security Check Error/Failure
There was also one or two other memory related ones that I cant remember the exact wording of.
Delay Chkdsk start up time at OS Boot | Windows 8 & 8.1 (Or Disable Altogether)
Previous to Windows 8 if Chkdsk needed to run without prompt the user had the ability to cancel if so desired. Since Windows 8, the user input has been removed.
At the least, you can change the delay setting as follows:
Modify DWORD "AutoChkTimeout"
IMAGE ONE:
1. Open Regedit:
One way to open regedit is to hit the Winkey+S and type regedit, hit enter when you see it appear.
2. Navigate to the following registry key:
Code: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession Manager 3. Click on the folder "Session Manager"
4. In the right hand pane you will see registry values. Right click on the value "AutoChkTimeout" and select "Modify" (See image one)
If the value is missing, create it (See image two)
5. Change the "Value data:" to the desired delay time of your choice.
e.x. Changing the value to 10, will delay the Chkdsk start time by 10 seconds.
Click OK, close the registry.
Finished.
Create DWORD "AutoChkTimeout"
IMAGE TWO:
If the registry value "AutoChkTimeout" is not present:
Right click on an empty space in the right hand pain (in folder "Session Manager")
Select "New"
Select "DWORD (32-Bit) Value
Name it "AutoChkTimeout" (No Quotation Marks "")
Follow step 4. above.
Remember:
Name = AutoChkTimeout
Base = Hexadecimal
Value Data = Delaytime (in seconds)
DISABLE automatic repair in Windows 8 & Windows 8.1
If you would like to disable automatic repair altogether:
1. Open the command prompt as Administrator (an elevated instance). If you have no idea how to open an elevated command prompt. Hit Winkey+S type in cmd.exe, when it appears, right click on the name and choose "Run as administrator"
2. Type the following text into the cmd window
Code: bcdedit /set recoveryenabled NO
You have now disabled the Automatic repair function.
To reinable: Follow step 1 and in step 2 type in the following text:
Code: bcdedit /set recoveryenabled YES
Having disabled the Automatic repair feature, you can follow Brink's tutorial on manually running Chkdsk > Here:
CHKDSK - Check a Drive for Errors in Windows 8
On my HTPC, I used to be able to boot Win 8 Pro in about 12-15 seconds off of my M4 SSD. Recently it's taking almost a minute. what could have caused the slowdown and where I should look?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 8.1 ... Noticed shortly after upgrading the Asus VivoTab Smart to Windows 8.1 (from Windows 8) -- that sometimes the system's date and time will be incorrect after a shut-down, turn on cycle. Sometimes the clock is as fast as three hours, but others much longer. Interestingly, if you go into PC Settings > Time & Settings and then toggle off the "Set time automatically" option, and then toggle it back on, the time and date are immediately corrected. However, the time would again be wrong after a shutdown. If the tablet is restarted, though, the time is correct again.
THE SYSTEM: Windows 8.1 (upgraded from Windows Store). Intel Atom processor.
WHAT'S BEEN TRIED: I:
1. Stopped the Windows Time service, registered it again and restated it. The issue remained. I entered the desktop and clicked on the time in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. From here I confirmed the time zone was correct and changed the date and time. That fixes the problem during the current session, but the time/date are again wrong on reboot.
2. Tried Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, the time is correct and stays correct.
3. Tried Clean Boot. In Clean Boot, with all non-Microsoft services disables, the issue returns and the time is wrong again.
THE BREAKTHROUGH THAT BEGS FOR AN ANSWER: While reading this thread, I read up on Windows 8's Fast Startup. Just on a lark, I went into the Power settings area of the Control Panel and turned off Fast Startup. Now the clock is correct. There's a downside , of course, to this in that shutdown and startup is notably slower.
The tablet now keeps perfect time -- but cannot have Fast Startup - which is a bummer for a tablet.
QUESTIONS:
1. Is this is hardware issue? Asus is offering an RMA -- but hate to add to a landfill when this is fixable with software.
2. Is there a way to check the BIOS clock on a Windows 8.1 tablet ? I believe it's a UEFI system....
3. Is there a way to fix this so fast startup can be used -- and have correct time?
4. Is this a known issue?
5. Is there a way to make sure the Windows Time service is activated in a Fast Startup.
So I've recently reinstalled windows 8 and it seems I have no permission to do anything like create/delete folders and rename.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having some problems after installing some updates. For example, after installing these updates, every time I run uTorrent, I get a Blue Screen of Death, almost instantly. The problem is not with the software because I always used the same and nothing ever happened like that. The Blue Screens of Death were more frequent when the software was run. I researched a lot and saw a lot of people reported problems with the update KB2821895 and have not yet emerged any official response or fix patch from Microsoft. I was instructed to run in the command prompt, the following commands:
sfc / scannow
dism / online / clean-up / restoreheath
The problem is that when I run the sfc / scannow, after checking 100%, he is just standing there, frozen in 100% with no response.
And running *** / restorehealth, there was much delay and it got stuck at 20% and after a long time went to 40% where it has remained for hours, so it haven't finished the way it should.
