I've had BSOD's before a clean install of Windows 8.1. Ran diagnostics and updated drivers and even did a memtest (6 hours 10 tests) no errors.
After clean install... no problems for 3 days and I've recorded everything I've added or installed in a journal.
As soon as I jumped on a Skype call I got a BSOD. Couldn't catch the error... it was overstack buffer of some sort.
Before the clean install I had BSOD's occur from Gaming and Skype.
All drivers are up to date and I don't seem to have any hardware issues because of all the tests I've run.
Could updating these cause problems:
PCI Simple Communication Controller
SM Bus Controller
Here's what was removed and now things work:

SKYPE needs an ID (usually a Microsoft ID). Now is there anyway I can test a connection from My computer to phone or the reverse. AS I have only a single Microsoft ID I can't test this. I don't want to wait until I'm over at someone else's house to set this up. Is there a way you can test a SKYPE video call between your own laptop and your mobile. I just want to see if the video works both way.
I just upgraded our computer to Windows 8, but it crashes during a Skype session. I installed the Windows 8 desktop version of Skype, not the app version. I need the small window on top of the screen, and this is only possible with the desktop version, not with the Windows 8 app version!!
I already reinstalled Skype, but the problem persists.
I used to blue screen whenever I start up my laptop; could only start it through safe mode. I had a ton of errors trying to reinstall Windows, but then eventually did it. Anyway, Why I was blue screening. I was setting up everything and downloading things I wanted (after resetting Windows and deleting almost everything), when *SEEMINGLY* out of nowhere, I would blue screen. After a couple of blue screens, I noticed it was only when opening Skype. Turns out this was why I was blue screening ages ago when opening my laptop. Anyway, I want to fix this. More detail would be this: I click on Skype, blue screen with something to do with "System service exception ks.sys"
I need Skype to communicate with friends and family.
I don't want necessarily to remove SKyDrive but it annoys the hell out of me when my files go to it and not to Documents which is where I want them. I do not know how to stop Skydrive being the first port of call for all my saved files or how to replace it with the good old fashioned Documents File. I am sure I am not alone in thinking that the Microsoft techies did a lousy job trying to better Win7 with this appalling Windows 8.1. I am about to buy a new laptop but what was once a real pleasure is now going to be a pain in the neck to have to get a new laptop with Windows 8 on it.
I have a customer that brought in his windows 8.1 machine because after responding to a "Call from Microsoft" he let them into his computer. I would like to preface this with the fact that in the pact he has indeed let the real Microsoft into his machine to assist with 8.1 setup so I don't think he realized until too late that it was a scam.
I haven't seen this type of lockout since the days of windows 2000. I cant even boot with a cd. I have checked and reset the bios to no avail.
I just started to receive this message whenever I try to open a PDF file. I even get this message when trying open a previously saved PDF file. I have never had this problem before.
Having problems with facebook calling on win8.1 RTM? Sometimes I get " The software that powers video calling is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
Other times I get " It looks like a program on your computer may have blocked your video calling software" reinstalled the plugin several times but i still get the same errors. Seems to be blocked by something inside Win 8.1 ...

I just bought a new laptop with windows 8 on and I m a bit lost....
I installed the yahoo messenger for windows 8 and I noticed that everytime I open a chat window with my contacts, the video call and call button are disabled and it says something like the other person doesn t have the right settings to make a video call? I can still do video calls on yahoo. I also got skype but yahoo for windows 8 seems a bit more similar to the messenger for windows 7..
I have been having a problem with Windows 8.1 Pro for a few months now. Every time windows, java, drivers, or anything updates and the PC is restarted, after login, it acts as though its a fresh install. When everything is loaded, the start window is blank and so is the desktop. When I press the windows key, to go to desktop, there is an error. I can not remember exactly what it says but next time I update i will edit it in. It basically says that, "The desktop cannot be found." along with it listing the directory for it.
So I searched for months and have not found a fix or a lot of people with the same thing. I did however get a clue about RPC (remote procedure call). I figured out a quick fix for this but every time there is a new update its back to the beginning. These are the steps I take
press windows key to view desktop close all errors Alt+Ctrl+Del Services tab Find RPC (remote procedure call) witch will be stopped every time. Start the service (Witch appears to do nothing) Details tap Find explorer.exe and end the process Click File Run New Task Explorer.exe
After all of that the desktop starts to load and everything is back to normal except the appearance settings. I then restart the PC and as long as there is not other update in that time, Everything is just the way its suppose to be, appearance and everything.
I tried just restarting Explorer.exe and it will just cycle and give the same error.

I would like to be able to close Skype while still logged onto Win 8. If I click on logout I get a message that says I am logged in with my microsoft account and can't log out.
So, yesterday is the first time this has happened. It has never happened before. The first time it happened yesterday, I Was watching some TV shows online, and then I got the PAGE_FAULT(...) error code.
I tried running my Anti_Malware scanner to see if that could pick something up. It crashed again just as it started.
So I tried Advanced SystemCare. Again, same problem.
And it just keeps happening.
I tried refreshing my computer to see if that would do anything, but it crashed during that too.
I ran the SF Diagnostic program and I have the .DMP files (But I can't seem to upload them. Maybe I'm trying to upload the wrong ones, I don't know.)
Anyway, these are the specs of my system. HP ENVY DV-7 7270CA (less than 8 months old) running Windows 8 (as I wasn't able to update to 8.1. I got the 0x80000004 error, or whatever it was. I can't remember exactly), 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM, Intel Core i7 3630QM, NVIDIA GT630M (2GB) GPU, and a 1TB 5400RPM HDD. Don't know what brand, I didn't check.
-Ram-TEST lasted nine hours and successfully completed -Change the motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth 990FX From R2.0 to MSI 890FX-GD70, the latter shall use at this time, the other I sold it) -Changed video card (ATI 6870 Updated NVIDIA 760) -Replaced SSD where the system resides, had a value SMART wrong, incorrectly replaced by Samsung (EVO 250GB) -Analyzed by-DUMP bluescreenanalizer and semrpe the same file with the same bug tails -Windows-formatted 3 times already
The temperatures are good .. I also have a Corsair H100i and a fairly spacious case that allows good ventilation (CM Storm Trooper) This is my components: CPU: AMD FX8350 RAM: 16GB (4 x 4) G SKILL 1866 MHz CAS 8 SSD: 250GB Samsung EVO Video Card: Zotac 760 amp edition! HDD: 3TB WD, 250GB WD Motherboard: MSI 890FX-GD70 Sound Card: Asus Xonar Phoebus ONLY Case: CM Storm Trooper Black Win 8.1 x64 Original I repeat that I do not overclock, the frequencies are those of series
Now I'll explain when I turn on my pc at COLD (the day after practically) happens to me .. and not always! However, if you reboot immediately after work PERFECTLY, and for hours and hours! without presenting problems or other, and even under stress. The next day, however, having been off the night it happens it happens .. this blue screen without doing anything specific! Coincidentally, sometimes even if I do nothing on windows just turned on, or a complete on the internet, or other, causally!
I started a thread a while ago and You Fellas diagnosed the problem was the faulty RAM. So I bought and replaced using 2 other slot of memory that wasn't used before (i have 4 slots). It took some time, but sadly it started crashing again. 4 dmps and routine stuff attached. It happens usually in games but it happens sometimes in desktop so its random for me. What component or anything else is corrupted.
The crashes usually occur when the computer is not in use. I will move the mouse and either the screen will come to life... or the computer has crashed.
I updated NVIDEA drivers end of July and thought I fixed it. But apparently not.
Since yesterday, I keep getting Kernel Inpage Error like every 15 mins I turnd the computer on. It runs on pre-installed Windows 8 after I bought it new a year ago. In the past, I have been getting BSOD, but it is usually after I wake it from sleep mode and the error is IRQL EQUAL OR LESS ..
I have an issue with bsod that keeps happening when I play bf4 all the threads say to post here to get to know what program is issueing. 0n reading the dump file to know what program / driver is the issue.
About 2 - 3 weeks ago, I've got a lot of bluescreens, and I've solved it by removing my USB wireless adapter and connecting to my router by using an Ethernet cable, this reduced the amount of them, I think that I only got one after that. In the last sunday, my hard drive broke and bought a new one in monday, and after formatting it and reinstalling Windows 8, the bluescreens returned and now they're more than ever!!!! And one thing I have noticed, is that two of them appeared when I was copying big files which total size was about 60 GB from a directory to another inside the C: .
I'm starting to think that this is related to the motherboard or something like that.
I walk away from my computer for a bit and come back to a BSOD. This happens quite regular. I have run my system both stock and highly overclocked. When it started BSODing on me I put it back to stock to see if that worked but it has not worked.
I Have been Having BSOD for a while now and have tried multiple time to self Fix it short of a full Format. Before I Format windows, I have tried Reinstalling My Nvidia drivers to no avail. I Even got New ram sticks recently and when The BSOD started i replaced them thinking it was that but they continued anyway.
I downloaded skype from the windows appstore and I cant log in to a skype account unless I accept that the skype account will be synced with the windows live account.
I am able to Skype For Desktop on Windows 8.1. Turns out it is not just me.
For starters it takes Skype several minutes to send and recvive messages as well as the CPU usage varying from 35%-60%(Average is 45-50%) it is also constantly using more than 0.3MB/s disk usage. But now and again Skype will tell me I have revived a messaged when in fact the message it said I revived was sent in Late December. Also it says some people are not on my contact list/ offline when infarct they are on my contact list and are online.
I have tried Skype on other machines and it works just fine.
i have windows 8.1 enterprise 9600 iso and activation by skype (windows is activated) now can we add activation into the iso file ... > not needed activaion after install or restor by m.toolkit
