Debugging :: BOSD When Computer Start Up - Multiple IRP Complete Requests

Feb 2, 2014

I am getting BSOD most of the time when my computer starts up, also a few times when I'm browsing websites. The first few times it happened I did not notice the file name that causes it.

The files that I noticed which causes the BSOD:
DPC_WATCHDOG_VOLIATION
MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS

What I did that causes this mentioned file to prompt BSOD. I have attached a zip file achieved by the diagnostic tool from this website as told.

Debugging :: BSOD - Multiple IRP Complete Requests

Apr 14, 2014

I recently purchased a refurbished Lenovo G505s about a month ago. Today I got my first BSOD, which was classified as "Multiple IRP Complete Requests" - this is the first BSOD I've gotten on this laptop.

The only other issues the laptop had was intermittently shutting down for some reason if pressure was applied on the surface near the touchpad.

Debugging :: Multiple IRP Complete Requests Upon Booting Windows 8.1

Jan 19, 2014

Everytime I boot my pc I get a MULTIPLE IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS BSOD on Windows 8.1. Upon rebooting (which takes quite a bit longer than the original boot) things work fine. From what I understand the causes of this BSOD vary quite a bit.

Debugging :: New Computer With Windows 8.1 - Multiple BSOD / Hard Crash To Black

Dec 13, 2013

I've recently built a new computer with Windows 8.1 and have been having some BSOD issues. Initially, I was getting a "Kernel_Security_Check_Failure" BSOD about once every day or two. After running MemTest+ (and confirming my RAM was fine), I started reading around online and began thinking it was a driver issue.

At the time, I did have a Belkin Wireless USB adapter which did not have an official driver for Windows 8.1. I had gotten it to work by installing it in Win 7 compatibility mode. So to try and solve the problem, I uninstalled that driver and software, and went to hard-line ethernet. The BSOD's went away for about two days until:

Yesterday I had another crash. Except this time I didn't get a BSOD, but instead just a hard crash to black. When I rebooted I ran the Driver Verifier (after reading about it online), and then did a restart. When it booted back up, it started saying I had a "driver_verifier_detected_violation" BSOD appear, which was pointing to "nvlddmkm.sys". This looks like be some sort of Nvidia driver. I had to boot in safe mode to get back in and turn off driver verifier.

Debugging :: BSOD Multiple Times With Multiple Drivers / Bug Check Settings

Jul 19, 2014

I built a computer recently. Since day one I get BSODs but the drivers, and Bug/Checks listed are never the same.I was thinking it couldn't be a single device or driver so I've:

Replaced the MOBO.
Repair Installed the OS.
Replaced the RAM.

It BSOD'd multiple times between each change.

The only things I've run are IE/FF and Ableton Live 9. Ableton is usually running during the BSOD but it was not the last time.

Debugging :: Computer Won't Start Up Properly After BSOD

Jul 11, 2014

Last night my laptop (lenovo z400 ideapad, running windows 8 - i never updated to 8.1) went to a blue screen with a "kernel data inpage error" message. Tried to boot it back up, but once i entered my password and logged in, the screen looked wrong. The windows homepage had no apps and the background pattern was not the one i normally had. I couldn't click on anything, so i shut it back down and went to sleep. This morning, i turned it back on, and this time it looked normal when i logged in. However, after about a minute, it froze and would not unfreeze. Thats where i am now. I can open the computer in safe mode and it works fine, and through that i can access the event viewer and command prompt, etc. I did a disc repair, no luck, and a system restore failed. Like i said, computer only works in safe mode, so i dont know if I'll be able to do the right procedure to upload the dump file from the BSOD, but i can try. Lots of interesting things in the event viewer. I'm on my phone but i can sample them later.

Debugging :: BSOD Critical Process Died Even After Complete Reinstall

Mar 7, 2014

Minidump: [URL] ....

Memtest came back good. No errors. Also thought I should mention temps are just fine, nothing going above 50C.

(I was running 8.1 before the reinstall) So randomly about a week ago my computer started to bsod out of nowhere saying Critical Prcoess died. Then I started getting Kernal data inpage error. I, of course, googled the issue and there seems to be no solid fix for them. After some fiddlig I seemed to make the bsods stop (could have been luck) and then I was only getting hard locks. No bsod, but everything, including the cursor, was frozen. No ctrl alt del could fix it, it was stuck and required a hard reset. Some thought it was registry errors, others thought it was hardware.

I think I have ruled out software after a reinstall, and still having the issue.

Getting Multiple Devices Shown Under My Computer

May 26, 2014

Lately I have observed that whenever I connect my computer through WiFi, I see various other devices visible under 'my computer', like network gateway, mobile phones, and other devices.

Is it because the network settings had network visibility option checked 'on'.

Also, would that mean someone may have accessed the files on my computer.

I want to know who else can access my computer through the same WiFi that I am connected to.

Debugging :: Getting Multiple BSoDs A Day?

Mar 18, 2014

I've been dealing with shoddy drivers for about three months now and recently it got so bad I had 9 BsoD's in one day. At that point I made major changes and got rid of everything that was unnecessary. Unfortunately I'm still having problems, with two BSoD's here in the last hour.

I'll attach the two BSoD's I've just had along with the data from msinfo32 in hopes this can finally stop.

Debugging :: Win 8.1 64 Bit - Multiple BSOD Crashes

Dec 13, 2013

I encounter really frequent bsod crashes (3-6 every day) with various errors on my relatively new notebook - Asus G750JH-T4080H. these include:

INTERRUPT_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
TIMER_OR_DPC_INVALID
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and
KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

Additional info: They mostly occur when in windows, browsing the web using firefox. only very seldom they appear during gaming. i also have to admit that i made recent changes to registry (regarding "The server {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." errors in event log/viewer") because of another problem (but the bsods were already there before that changes, but maybe not so frequently).

I just installed the new 8.1 windows updates, 30 minutes later new bsod appeared (uploaded current Diagnostic Tool zip):

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

I fear that there is a hardware problem ... Since I bought it, the pc make strange noise when I connect a usb device (a "bip-bip").

Debugging :: Multiple BSOD A Day Due To Variety Of Actions?

May 15, 2014

I have been getting multiple BSOD over the past couple weeks. Its got to the point where I can't really do anything even remotely "taxing" on my computer without an impending reboot. Playing more lightweight games such as Hearthstone or WoW are guaranteed crashes, as is listening to music in the web browser while doing anything else. Last night in a desperate attempt to correct the situation, I ran the Windows 8.1 refresh option. Unfortunately shortly after rebooting into the fresh install I had another BSOD and multiple more today. Ive run chkdsk on my harddrive, and ran memtests on my RAM, all came back clear. I went so far as to remove my graphics card in an attempt to isolate any potential hardware failure, but on the integrated graphics I received the same errors.

Debugging :: BSODs With Multiple Different Error Codes

I seem to get 1 BSOD each day I use my computer for more than an hour or two.

MSI GT70 2OD
Intel i7 4700mq
Intel HD4600 and Nvidia GTX780m

I have been told previously that the BSOD's i get have been graphics driver related. I have basically been going through every different driver I can find to hopefully find a combination where they do not conflict and crash.

I was thinking I should roll back to windows 8 from 8.1 but a quick look around and it seems these GT70's suffer from the blue screens on windows 8 too.

Debugging :: Multiple Different BSOD's On New Build With Windows 8.1

Sep 15, 2014

I built a new computer for my girlfriend, which of course ran fine at my house for 4 days, and even passed 12 hours of prime95. She lives over an hour away, and since I left a few days ago, she has had multiple problems with BSOD's. It seems to occur far more often when powering the computer on, and then it often takes multiple attempts to get the pc running - but once it is running, it seems to be somewhat stable. It seems to be somewhat random whether it will power up normally.

Some basic hardware info:
Intel Pentium G3258 with stock cooler running at stock speed (3.2)
Corsair XMS 2x4GB DDR3 1333
Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2V motherboard
Hanns-G HT231DPBU Touchscreen monitor
Plextor M6S SATA3 (6Gb/s) solid state
Corsair CX430M PSU

I am not sitting at the PC now, but I did manage to get her to send me the minidumps. However, I am not able to figure out what the error is, or even how to start looking for it. I have 6 minidumps, mostly different days, with 6 different errors. I am attaching the minidumps here. I've run them through online crash analyzers, and can't find a pattern.

Debugging :: Multiple BSODs Occurring Mainly During Startup

Sep 15, 2014

Recently my computer has been crashing multiple times with BSOD errors, quite a few of them are different to each other. Here is a couple of BSODs I've noted down, although I guess they'll be in the dump files:

- BAD_POOL_HEADER
- IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- nvlddmkm.sys (pretty sure it was this or similar to)

There were a few others as well. Like I mentioned in the title, most occur whilst the computer is booting up. The computer mostly crashes just after the boot options are shown or just as the lock screen appears. I've added the diagnostic files so you can view them.

I'm pretty sure these started happening after my house had a power cut a week ago, and my computer was on at the time (so it was shutdown instantly). I wiped my computer and reinstalled Windows a few days ago, however I'm still getting the BSODs. Also, the computers crashed in other ways - for example, I was on it two days ago and everything connected to the computer died (mouse, keyboard, monitor), as in they stopped connecting to the computer. As well as this, on the same day I tried using it and it went to a darkish brown screen.

As you can see, its in a bit of a state. However, I am generally able to use it after one or two crashes and restarting it.

Debugging :: Random Multiple BSODs On Windows 8.1 / 8 And 7

Sep 15, 2014

I needed Windows again and decided to try it once again and immediatly got random BSOD again, right after a fresh installation and even after getting all updates and all the newest device drivers. Being within warranty I handed the notebook in to an authorized service partner. Disappointed I switched back to Linux and never had the time to investigate the problems any further. I also installed Windows 8 and the problems persisted.

Now I decided to investigate any further and decided to install Windows 8.1. From the beginning and also after upgrading to the newest available device drivers I'm experiencing the following BSOD.

Just a screenshot from BlueScreenView:

Attached you find the results of SF Diagnostic Tool. I also get some other instabilities, like crashing System Services, as shown in Event Viewer screenshot:

I did some memory tests, several with different versions of MEMTEST86+ and one over 48 hours with Windows Memory Diagnostic. I also ran Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool and got no errors.Assuming failing device drivers I enabled Driver Verifier as described in the forum (only mentioned tests and non-MS-drivers) and oddly I experienced only 1 BSOD during about 48 hours of operation with activated driver verifier (but unfortunately nothing driver specific). Normally I get at least 2 BSOD a day.

Debugging :: Multiple BSOD Crashes Every Hour

Mar 19, 2014

While doing seemingly resource light tasks such as watching a youtube video or listening to soundcloud, I would get BSOD. There are several different ones like the Watch dog one, pfn list corrupt, IRLQ not less or equal, system service exception and a memory dump.

I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 since I thought 8.1 was causing the issue. It started up around the time I upgraded to it and has gotten progressively worse.

Using an AMD HD7870 with the current non beta drivers. It caused it with the beta driver as well.

I checked all the RAM (4 sticks of 4) and they all worked individually.

Debugging :: Win8 X64 - Blue Screens On And Off Multiple Times A Day

Sep 15, 2014

So I have been getting Blue screens on and off for a fair time now ( few months ) from once per week to multiple times per day. I have been trying to fix the problem for a fair while but I feel I am getting nowhere in which the frequency of the blue screens doesn't seem to change no matter.

Steps I have taken so far:

- cmd>sfc /scannow: This might have been a culprit to some blue screens. At first when run I would get "corrupt files found but not fixed". After spending some time trying to refresh windows 8.1 and failing (as I only had Windows 8 key), eventually I did a clean install of windows 8 (and still having the same message). I have since acquired a windows 8.1 key and used that to refresh windows, and now the message is from sfc when run is "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".

- Windows memory test : So I ran this and had no errors.

- cmd>verifier: I have recently tried that with no crashes ( I think I set it up correctly and when I rebooted it booted normally to windows following steps here : [URL] ....).

- Moved graphics card slot: So I move my graphics card down one slot on my motherboard in case there was a dodgy connection, but this didn't work

I have attached the output from the SF Diagnostic tool and also an additional text file generated from WhoCrashed with some additional information.
