If i decide that i want to uninstall windows 8 from my computer, can i then install it on another using the same product key that i used on the first or is it once used you cannot recover your product key?

What can I do to remove it permanently from my account? I do not want it showing up as an app that I own and is not yet installed on my computer.

What i am trying to do is retrieve my product key from the BIOS with a program that is bootable outside of windows. Like from a USB for example.
My intention is to restore my computer with a clean install by downloading my windows 8 version on another computer to a usb through the windows website after i retreive my product key. Then use this usb to install my windows 8 version back onto the BSOD computer. But as i have stated, i am unable to use the conventional product key finding programs since i cant even boot windows 8.
When I go to the Store and choose Account > My apps, this is what I see.
It says there are four apps that are on my pc, yet it also says that they're not installed? I think this is why it's giving me the 80073cf0 error that I mentioned before. How would I go about completely deleting these apps from my computer? Like which folder do I go into and what do I delete?

No DVD's and product key given at the time of purchase so how to get windows 8 single language software to re-install and the key for the same. As the OS were pre installed. This is to avoid future issues that may come up like software failure etc.

I did a fresh reboot of my system and now I cannot reactivate it. My product ID is "not available" and I have an activation error description. I've tried all the slui commands and the sfc scans.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have an issue with activating Windows 8.1. I bought a Samsung series 7 chronos NP780 last November that came with Windows 8 installed already. I upgraded to 8.1 a few days ago and left it overnight to complete. Everything went fine up until I had to activate it. It says that the product key is incorrect and to enter a different one. I have looked at the box that the laptop came in, the manuals in it and on the laptop itself and there is no product key to be found. One or two of the manuals/booklets might be missing but I'm fairly sure that the product key is within the BIOS so should it not recognise the product key itself automatically and complete the upgrade without asking me for the key? I ran belarc to can by laptop and at the section where the product key should be it says "Key: None activated". I also ran keyfinder and the key it gave me back didnt work (although the end of it seems to match the end of the one that is listed as the "current product key".

How to I uninstall windows defender. I have disabled it however it is still running. I look in event log and it says unable to stop windows defender. It posts error 16 every 5 minutes. I have disabled it when I try to open it it says it is disabled. I really wouldn't care except several times a day my app will freeze. They always coincide with the windows defender error. I am running windows 8.1.

I visited this link -- Upgrade Windows with only a product key - Microsoft Windows Support, clicked the "Install Windows 8" button, ran the setup file that downloaded, and when prompted for the product key, entered it, only to see the message.
The product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8.
Is there another ISO I should be using? Ultimately I'm trying to get an ISO for use with my VMWare Fusion 6 install running on my Mac (10.9.1). I'm confident the product key given to me by my company is legit, but it obviously isn't a retail product key, probably some kind of corporate key or the equivalent.

Can you system image a drive that has Win 8.1 (OEM) onto a new SSD, and not have your sheer will destroyed by the OS not being activated after the image has been applied to new SSD?
I would hope that once the image has been applied to the new drive, the magic within Win 8.1 would realise I am using the same motherboard, but it's just a different drive. Infact, I'm keeping the original 2TB drive in the exact same slot, but of course formatting it once I can get the SSD to boot. (I'm installing the SSD into my Acer's expansion SATA 3 bay on the front of the case - hot swappable technology or something)
I got a message yesterday on my windows 8.1 laptop saying my windows is expiring in a couple of weeks and I need to put in a product key to renew it. So I found my product key and put i tin and it won't work? It says it can't be accepted and to use another one?

I have tons of apps installed it seams, Weather, Video, Travel, netflix etc.. i don't need any of these and wish to completely remove them from my system. I suspect i should be able to do this from Programs and Features and turning windows features on and off but I don't know where these apps reside.. I can't seem to be able to find any of them in the Windows features area. I also want to uninstall any unneeded apps that show up in the metro start page thing. Not just disable them, or unpin them.. I am having trouble reinstalling windows 8 on my Dell XPS 8500. Since installing a new SSD and having reset the BIOS using a jumper, my copy of Windows 8 will no longer detect my product key that i assume is embedded in the BIOS.

If i remove a programs folder from the programs folders in an WIM image file, then when installing the WIM using windows setup, will the program no longer exist or is there remnants of that program that I have to delete (e.g. registry details)?
And if I want to install custom programs, will it be the same process but in reverse (i.e. get all the files and folders of that program and place then in a new entry under the programs folder or is it different?
I have toshiba recovery OEM discs which I have extracted and joined the existing SWM files into a big WIM file.

I wonder whether one or more of 13 recent Windows Updates has caused an issue. I can use System Restore to take my PC back to September 7th, three days before the Windows Updates were installed (there is just a Java update that has taken place since that I would have to carry out again). Alternatively, I can uninstall the Windows Updates one at a time or all together to see whether that rectifies the situation. Is there a preference?
