Nov 14, 2013Some websites the video stops but audio can still be heard.
View 3 RepliesSome websites the video stops but audio can still be heard.
View 3 RepliesOnly does it on Facebook. Video only, sound is fine. Does it with all browsers. Changed a few settings but reverts back.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen using Flash Player within IE10 in 8, audio and video synch is fine at standard small screen, but when I go to full screen they do not synch. The video is behind timing with the audio. It looks as though the video skips now and then trying to catch up with the audio. I dual boot with 7 and do not have a problem with Flash within IE10 there, so I'm assuming it's not hardware. This happens on any site using Flash.
All the settings in both Flash Players are the same. The only difference is that my 7 OS is 32 bit with 32bit Flash whereas my 8 OS is 64bit with 32bit Flash.
(Windows 8.1). I have seen a problem quite like this. IE is not my default browser. I uncovered this due to an application that is hard coded top open IE. When I open IE nothing happens. When I enter a url it just sits there like it is not connected to the Internet. No errors, nothing. When I click on the gear everything is grayed out except File, Safety and View compatibility settings. I cannot get into settings. My first thought was corrupted files. I ran SFC /scannow and no errors are reported. Also did a DSIM restorehealth.
I am stumped at this point. I have turned off IE and brought it back to no avail using the Windows Features turn off/on option. If this was any other application I would delete and re-install but this is IE. Any attempt to download and install another version is blocked by MS indicating that it is already installed. Everything appears to be operating just fine except IE.
It boots OK. Dell 755 dual core 1.8 3.5Gb ram,
For some time now, the machine will suddenly freeze, after 10 sec or so back to working, using any program. When I open outlook I'm now getting a message saying outlook didn't close properly, or personal folder didn't close properly. I always shut down al rpgrogram before switching off.
After it's frozen you can hear the HDD crackling a little, it's like backing up. Don't a HDD scan and check everything seem to be OK. I did look through the log, I noticed a lot of multiple triggers. Don't know what that means.
I run a Huawei modem since I used a Tigo chip, when It boots up, I notice the FDD light comes on. When I leave the modem in the USB and boot up, I loose my CD ROM icon, to get it back If I need it, I have to remove any usb drive like Modem, flash drive it reappears. This has happened for long long time. It did the same in Win7.
I have an ASUS G75 - installed a new Samsung SSD to replace a Kingston SSD + clean install W 8.1 (new product key) + updates.
Trying to login to my company email (they use gmail) through secureauth - the username is accepted and this brings up the password box, but when the password is entered, the password box disappears and all I am left with is the username box. Repeating the process gives the same result.
With the W 8.1 on the old SSD, there was no problem.
On a desktop with W 8.1 there is also no problem. The internet options seem the same on both computers.
Everything else works fine, no boot problems etc etc.
Appears browser related as problem is only in IE11. Have googled issue and can find no definitive answer. Clearing cookies, etc and resetting IE11 does not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen playing almost any game that has some kind of load on the GPU (from FPS games to Strategy), the game often freezes after around 10 - 60 minutes of playtime and the FPS drops to an unbearable amount and the only way to 'solve' the FPS issue is to restart the PC.
For some games, this FPS drop doesn't happen and it just freezes about 4 or 5 times before ultimately crashing because of some display driver issue about the AMD drivers not responding. This kind of issue usually happens with the older games rather than modern ones.
I am running an MSI Radeon 6850 with an AMD Phenom II X4 960T and a 600W power supply. I have tried all kinds of graphics drivers: the latest stable ones, the latest beta ones. I have tried uninstalling all graphics drivers and reinstalling them, with and without driver cleaning software but all to no avail.
I am now starting to think it may be a hardware issue but I do not have another graphics card to swap it out for so.
How to fix Chrome as it is taking an unusually long time to load. It started just today a few hours ago when I logged into Facebook here in my laptop, I normally don't use it in my laptop as I just use it on my phone mainly and have a desktop at school where I submit my school files early to avoid submitting them on my laptop. But when I was forced to submit at home and use Facebook on my laptop to submit my files, Chrome then starts taking a very long time to load, about 10-15 minutes. It isn't an internet problem as were getting a pretty average 7 mbps, and strange thing is IE is working well and fine. Tried doing some research and some suggested it was a firewall issue but I doubt it, as I never tweak my antivirus settings. I tried this When Google Chrome won't start up | Computerworld Blogs but couldn't continue as I seem to be missing the debug.log mentioned and so couldn't make sure if I was having the same problem, so pretty lost at the moment.
After the 15 minute wait for chrome to open, and while I STILL have the browser open, opening new Chrome windows is then back to normal. But soon as I close my Chrome windows I then have to wait lots again. And it seems no matter how many shortcuts I try to open, I remember I clicked Chrome about 20 times it only always opens just 2 Chrome windows
I want to try to uninstall Internet Explorer, but I can't fin it at all. I'm running Windows 8.1.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is since updating to 8.1, whenever I fire up IE11 on desktop mode a Windows Installer box shows in the middle of the screen saying "preparing to install" and the box continually flashes and the webpage will not load. Why this happens! IE works fine in metro mode and I cannot find any logs in Event Viewer with regards to this problem.
PC is a Dell XPS8500, seven months old.
When I try to run the videos at this site, the black window for the video opens, but no video appears to run. Using MS Defender for AV, and have tried disabling pop up blocker, with no change. I can run the videos with my Win7 laptop which also uses IE11 and Defender. The difference between the two setups seems to be Windows 8.1. What I could change for settings to get the video to run.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using IE11 on Windows 8.1 Pro x64. I'm manually adding youtube.com to compatibility view settings and when I close IE and reopen it, the compatibility view settings list is empty.
Is there any way to add a website to compatibility view settings and that it will stick?
IE opens, but doesn't function properly, won't display web pages and the settings are all greyed out. running 8.1 Pro with Media Center 64 bit. Ran SFC/Scan, but got the error that it found corrupt files but couldn't repair them. Then I couldn't find the file cbs.log to see. I also turned off IE11 rebooted and turned it on then rebooted with the same result. I did have a virus (which I can't remember the name). that is gone but now this.
Here is screen shot, it is small. It is just a "white screen"
So I just did a clean install 8 upgraded to windows 8.1, I'm pretty sure I got all my drivers installed.
but for some reason IE11 looks fuzzy.
specs:
Lenovo y580
i7-3610QM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M 2GB
16GB Ram
My IE11 doesn't respond after the Windows 8.1 Update1, I have tried sfc /scannow and Dism command to repair but the result is same,
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using WIN 8.1 with IE 11. I want to lock my homepage so it cannot be changed by anyone else or hijacked etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIE11 does not run in desktop mode except with add-ons disabled. IE11 from Metro page works with no problems.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 8.1 and IE11 always hangs after about 1 hour, all tabs do not respond and the top of the page says Internet Explorer (not Responding).
I can leave it for a couple of hours and nothing happens, when I right click on the IE on the taskbar and select close window an error message comes up that IE is not responding and if I click "close" nothing happens, if I click search for solution and restart, a new IE restarts but the original stays and remains "not responding".
Even Task Manager cannot close it down I have to reboot to get rid of it.
I believe I have the attest version of IE11 (11.01)
Wasn't there supposed to be the swipe back option for the desktop version of IE11? I tried finding an option to turn in on in the advanced settings, but don't see anything there.

2) after linking to page - the back button just displays a blank screen
(Now I'm not sure if this is in configuration - but it never worked like that before -- I got returned to my Google search query). screenshots shown.
right clicking on the browser back button doesn't achieve anything - I'm really used to it popping down a list of the previous pages so I can hop back for example to the search engine results list page which I had about four pages ago etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter I launch IE11 and then close it(with all tabs), then I open the Task Manager on the Processes tab and there are 3 IE11 instances still open and no matter how many times I end these tasks, they'll immediately open again, consuming my ram AND CPU. That's why I started using Chrome. Still, I'd like to know what causes this bug with IE11 in 8.1.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow to enable IE11 to open full screen. I have just changed my default back to IE11 due to Chrome's persistent crashing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIE11 seems to have a strange "Feature". When you close a Web site with an active download the whole thing closes and the download disappears -- IE 11 shows no windows open.
However press CTRL+J and you'll see the download lists again. If there's no activity press PAUSE and then press RESUME and then it should continue from where it stopped.
To some this might seem obvious but I've seen people re-start a 2hr download because they thought they had lost their currently active download when they accidentally closed the web site.
IE Desktop (Menu bar) Favorites always seem to sort by name. Want to manually shift high usage items to top like I could with IE8. Have disabled Add-ons (Classic IE, Logitech SetPoint, Shockwave) with no effect. Looked in IE options for a sort or drag/drop setting, but didn't see anything.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn booting up 8.1, lenovo z410, the first few attempts to use IE11 from the desktop fail. "cannot open page". Connection troubleshooter produces nothing.
go to APPS > IE and it works fine.
After using chrome and the tile app for awhile, IE11-Desktop will gain coherency and start working. Is there a way to reinstall the desktop side?
this is a clean install with little/nothing loaded on it, about to be deployed for real work so its important.
unable to connect to one particular website using Windows 8.1 with IE11 or Google Chrome.
Always get message...."This page can't bedisplayed", then when I check box to fix connection problem a dialog box displays message, "The remotedevice or resource won't accept the connection... xxx(web site) is not set up to acceptconnections on port 'The World Wide Web Service HTTP'."
There are no problems using IE11or Google Chrome in connecting to any other site(s) or exploring the internet. I do not have any 3rd party antivirus or malware protection. Have tried many different suggestion found in searching the web but no luck yet.
Can a text label be added to the favorites icon in IE11 desktop? I'm transitioning my parents from XP to 8.1 and need to make things discoverable.
The favorites list in the menu bar can't be scrolled with the mouse wheel, so that's out, and pinning the Favorites Center would be too intrusive.
I get the following message when I try to play some of the videos in youtube using IE11, tried deleting browsing history but no luck. I can play the video by using search with the name of the video.
