Browsers/Mail :: Website Missing A Section In All Browsers?
Jan 2, 2014
how to get the top section of [URL] to display the top section. Everything under the date and tips in the blue bar shows up, everything above doesn't. I have already tried it in internet explorer(tried safe mode w/ no add ons), firefox, chrome with no luck. I uninstalled java, re-installed, I reset the internet back to factory setting, wiped out all the browsing history. Tried messing with the internet options in every combination I can. I don't know what else to try besides trying to factory reset this machine.
Old vista pc died, kept a running backup disc every sunday up until august when I bought an Toshibe ex. hard drive.I had quite a few problems transferring the Toshiba into the windows 8 pc. Made multiple copies on the hard drive darn near 250 gigs. So erased all those files and transferred the backups I had on discs. They're in my pc but I don't know how to access them/. I installed a couple apps but I still don't see anything. I want to send attachments via email and the pc wants me to create an association in the default section. There is a list a mile long which I don't understand. Do i install some kind of app or is something else not setup right....
I can't access a website which I know 100% is working because the owner is a musician with hundreds or more visits a day. I can't access it on either chrome, IE11 or firefox from any of the three computers on our home network.
What could the common link be? Have I been blocked from the website or a router issue?
I go to a website ([URL]....) to use their application, and I need to drag the window across to a second monitor. Initially the title bar was shown, for a few days, but now it has disappeared, so I can't drag the window. I recently installed Windows 8 so I've been personalizing it (and trying to learn it!!), and likely set something to open the screen in that fashion, but I can't find a setting where the title bar is shown. I have other machines that run win7 and Vista, and the title bar is shown. I need your expertise!
This is an odd little problem, but I can't access DeviantArt on my HP Laptop.
A little history: I bought the laptop new. It had Windows 8 64 bit installed, and I immediately upgraded to 8.1, and at that time, I remember browsing the site looking for desktop wallpaper. Since then I upgraded with the Spring update, and any other update Windows gives me, so the laptop is up to date. I use FireFox (up to date) as a browser, and when I recently tried to access the site, I got a 'Connection has timed out' screen. I opened IE, and got a 'The operation timed out' screen.
Things I have tried:
ISP / Router - The laptop I'm having the trouble with is wireless. Using an older desktop (XP 32 bit SP3 as up to date as it will ever get) that is hardwired into the router, I have no problems accessing the site. Using my cell phone on the same WiFi (Android OS with Chrome browser), I'm also able to access it. Using an online proxy/anonymizer, I was able to get the site site to on the laptop.
HOSTS file - Since the 'Connection has timed out' is the same one I get from an ad page the HOSTS file has blocked, I removed it and replaced it with a blank one. No effect on either browser. I should also note that this is the exact same HOSTS file and FireFox version I'm using on the XP machine without issue.
Anti-Virus - I use Avast's free version, also up to date. I turned it off, again with no effect, and, again, it's the same that's running on the XP.
DNS - I used the 'ipconfig /flushdns' to no effect. I even tried to use DeviantArt's IP address (199.15.160.100), again, nothing.
I ran a scan with my AV, MalwareBytes, and Kaspersky's TDSSKiller with no results on any of them. All other websites that I normally go to are working fine.
When opening any browser on my pc, I get a band of white across the page with the following message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program does not have a valid digital signature that verifies the publisher."
Name: C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlashFlashUtil_ActiveX.exe. Then there is a choice of 'Yes' in grey, or 'No' in blue. If I click on the 'No' box 3 times the band disappears. The string leads to an 'Adobe Flash Player Utility'.
If I open the box it gives me an alternative to 'Quit' or 'Uninstall'. When I 'Uninstall', it states that the program has been successfully uninstalled. However, the string is still there and the same problem exists when opening a browser.
When I right click on the last part of the string & select 'Delete', a box titled 'File Access Denied'. 'You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file.
With a website opened on the desktop that I want to send the 'link' or 'page' by email, I go to 'Page', (top right), but both the 'Send page by email' & the 'Send link by email' are greyed-out. They won't even work if I select/highlight the page first. Why? How do you normally accomplish the same thing with a site from the 'Start screen'?
I can successfully browse our corporate website from my home using the connection provided by an isp. But as soon as I establish a vpn connection this site becomes inaccessible.
When I'm on a website that has a link that says"Contact me" or other such words and I click on that link this is what it brings up. I think it started happening since I've installed Windows 8. The only way I can contact the person is to right-click and select "view source" where I can see the email address and then contact the person using that address.
I have a Toshiba laptop and Windows 8.1 operating system. When I click on the Internet Explorer tile on the Start page, either the latest accessed application's webpage is displayed, or an error message saying that the website address not found. Therefore if I want to access a webpage, I cannot enter its address in the address bar of Internet Explorer. instead I hold down the Microsoft Logo and press s for search. I works, but I do not understand the contradiction between the error message and the fact that internet Explorer is actually working.
unable to connect to one particular website using Windows 8.1 with IE11 or Google Chrome.
Always get message...."This page can't bedisplayed", then when I check box to fix connection problem a dialog box displays message, "The remotedevice or resource won't accept the connection... xxx(web site) is not set up to acceptconnections on port 'The World Wide Web Service HTTP'."
There are no problems using IE11or Google Chrome in connecting to any other site(s) or exploring the internet. I do not have any 3rd party antivirus or malware protection. Have tried many different suggestion found in searching the web but no luck yet.
I have been struggling to insert a photo as part of a signature and was trying out various options when I found I could no longer try different pictures because the Single Photo option was suddenly missing from the top menu.
The Photo Album option still exists but where has the Single Photo option gone?
I need this because I insert a lot of photos in my emails.....
I can figure out how to make the search bar viewable in the desktop version of IE10.
Instead the searches are appearing in the address bar, which I don't want. I went to Tools > Manage add ons and selected google, but it didn't create a separate search bar.
For some reason Outlook.com only shows my Outlook.com email inbox. There is no inbox for Gmail. I checked my aliases and they are both listed. Outlook 2013 shows all my inboxes. My Lumia phone shows all my inboxes.
I have just noticed at few days ago that in Internet Explorer 11 if I go to "view" tab to change the size of the browser window I'm viewing , the "50%" and "Custom" selection is shaded and NOT available. I do not know what might have happened to change this, or how to change it back.
I have just updated my windows 8 pc and it asked me about selecting my browser, I choose internet explorer. However I have now gone onto my desktop part of my laptop and the internet explorer icon has disappeared. I can still get on through the windows 8 side of things but I want the icon back on the desktop.
Recently I have been having a lot of BSOD issues while visiting a certain website on all browsers. The said website access my webcam as well as microphone. After few BSOD's i thought maybe its a adobe flash player issue so i uninstalled flash player.
Now to test my system further i visited the said website using IE and google chrome which have built-in flash player plugin and i got the same BSOD error.Tried the same in Guest account with the same BSOD error repeating itself.
I am attaching the relevant zip file.
My system is DELL Inspiron 14 laptop with windows 8.1 installed.
When ever I click a mailto link in either Chrome, IE, Firefox and Opera it opens up a new chrome browser window. Before I installed windows 8 I had it opening up Outlook 2010 new email, now it opens up a new Chrome browser window.
How do I change it in windows 8 to when I click a link in any browser to open up Outlook 2010 new email as it did before?
Latest Java updates (64bits and 32bits) work for a while then stop with no warning. Be it HTML chat rooms -not loading- or embedded videos or whatever else. That is on ALL browsers not just IE. Opera, Chrome, Firefox....they all stop working.
(on a strange note, trying to play an embedded video in Opera will result in Opera downloading it rather than playing it)
I shut down all anti viruses, turned off the windows firewall. Uninstalled and reinstalled javas. Even went as far as a full system refresh after which Java again worked for a while then stopped again.
I have windows 8.1 it was working fine for a good while but now web pages can be slow loading or dont load at all, if i hit F5 some pages will then load.
I have googled this problem & tried many different possible solutions but none have worked, this problem happens at home on my broadband & at work so i dont think its anything to do with the router.
I have ran malwarebytes & avast many times, the 1st run of malwarebytes it found 2 objects but since they have been removed everything has been clear.
(Windows 8.1). I have seen a problem quite like this. IE is not my default browser. I uncovered this due to an application that is hard coded top open IE. When I open IE nothing happens. When I enter a url it just sits there like it is not connected to the Internet. No errors, nothing. When I click on the gear everything is grayed out except File, Safety and View compatibility settings. I cannot get into settings. My first thought was corrupted files. I ran SFC /scannow and no errors are reported. Also did a DSIM restorehealth.
I am stumped at this point. I have turned off IE and brought it back to no avail using the Windows Features turn off/on option. If this was any other application I would delete and re-install but this is IE. Any attempt to download and install another version is blocked by MS indicating that it is already installed. Everything appears to be operating just fine except IE.
I bought a new Windows 8.1 laptop about 2 weeks ago. So far, I like 8.1 and everything had been working OK. I've been using the laptop with my home wifi network, usually with the Firefox browser, for the whole 2 weeks. Yesterday, suddenly Firefox stopped being able to access the internet (error message: "Unable to connect"). Internet Explorer, Skype, and ping access the internet OK, but Firefox, Chrome, and Opera all fail with similar errors. (Needless to say, older devices I use on my network still work fine.)
Some possibly relevant details: 1) I'm running Windows Firewall. I've tried several times to "allow these apps through Windows Firewall" but it doesn't work. (I tried disabling the firewall from Control PanelSystem and SecurityWindows FirewallCustomize Settings, this still doesn't work!!) 2) The day before the problem started, I switched from Norton Internet Security to Windows Defender (this may be because the trial subscription expired -- before that it was very hard to control which was running). 3) Turning off Windows Defender (from Defender's Settings tab) didn't work.
I'm getting pretty desperate to choose my own browser and be able to control my laptop better.
I have an HP laptop running Windows 8. On 09/15, it did an automatic update to Windows. After that I am not able to browse internet using any browser - IE, firefox, Chrome. My laptop connects to internet. Apps like yahoo messenger works fine. But browsers wont.
I searched internet and as per some forums I tried 'netsh winsock reset ' command. After that browser will connect to internet, but after a minute or so, it stops connecting. Also, I noticed that when I do a restart, the laptop doesnt restart. It shows the 'Restarting' screen for hours and I have to manaully power it off.
I have no clue what update was pushed by microsoft which messed up my laptop. The laptop is pretty new and I did not have any issues until the windows update.
So randomly I stopped being able to move my firefox windows or use plugin windows (like firebug), I could still switch tabs and make new windows where I wanted them by dragging a tab out of firefox.
I reported that problem here [URL] ....
While waiting I decided to try out Internet Explorer (which i typically only use to confirm compatibility) and it won't go to any web pages at all.
Then Desperate I tried opera Which I can move around however I can't switch between tabs.
Kept ignoring prompts to upgrade to 8.1. Finally went ahead and did it and now neither IE or Chrome will load web pages. The programs themselves open but nothing happens. Not even a "can't load page" message. I am connected to the internet and I tried a few apps that seemed to work as normal. I've found this question online and followed a few instructions that didn't work. One worked for a minute but it went back. I'm not super tech savvy so I don't even know what it did, just followed some command prompts. I contacted Samsung support and they had me turn off IE under "turn windows features on or off" and turn it back on. It worked. For about two minutes. Now nothing again.
(I don't use IE a lot ) I run a completely updated Windows 8.1 (home?) edition operating system so the browser I take it should be fully updated already. I have tried opening it directly from the local directory for it and also running as an administrator and neither would make it open.
There is no error message and there is no direct indication in the processes currently running under task manager that shows that it has booted up and is just not responding.
I thought maybe I could uninstall it but... then I look under program and features and I didn't see any relative program to uninstall for it. I remember a few years back uninstalling like version six or seven under a xp operating machine but that was ages ago.
I have a problem with my new laptop i have recently bought. Dell Inspiron 7537 15inch OS 8.1 (after upgrade from 8.0) 16gb RAM, Samsung SSD SM 841 256gb. Lets go to the point - When i try to load a page, usually i have to refresh that page, because i get an error like "No connection" or sometimes it loads only HTML code. Almost always i cant see any pictures in Facebook, only broken links. Same is happening to the ads(if i am lucky enogh to see anything except html code). Its happening with all browsers i have: IE, CHROME, MOZZILA. I will upload pictures if needed.
Things i have done: I installed a malware anrivirus, and performed a cleanup. I disabled all "Startup" features from Task manager. I started the laptop in Safe mode with network - it didn't work. I updated the WiFi drivers, from intel website. I reinstalled the browsers, and cleaned all ( history, cache, cookies, etc ).
I've mentioned the model of the laptop because i saw that many users from Dell and Samsung were claiming about same issue. I didnt notice if the browsers were working fine in OS 8 because i updated it immediately. I think a software or other is corrupting the connection. I have a phone and other laptop, and they are working fine with my home WiFi.
I forgot to say that i bought the laptop with OS 8 installed and i dont have a windows disc for repair. Is it necessary that?
Every time I click on a browser it can take anywhere from 5-30 seconds or more to open now. Before you ask my computer is a gaming rig and has WELL beyond any normal hardware. When I click the browser icons on the task bar they light up like they normally do when they open. But after a few seconds they slowly fade away like they were closed.
But then after a sporadic number of seconds they open. No other program on my PC does. My PC boots pretty damn fast and everything else opens smooth as butter.I defrag and optimize it once a week and I clean it daily.
1) Why the resolution is so bad.
2) Not sure why there is a censor bar the first few seconds.
