Audio And Mouse Stuttering?
Jun 30, 2013audio and pointer stuttering. As far as I know I haven't changed anything on my computer that may cause this but seemingly randomly this error has sprung up.
My audio glitches up at 10-20 second intervals, (sometimes even 2-3sec) and simultaneously my mouse stutters. I have tried updating drivers, and have googled but nothing has worked. This error occured around the same time internet shopping extensions were added to my google chrome without my permission, but I cannot recall which happened first.
Naturally I have run ASC and AVG as well as Malware bytes, basically all the anti-virus software I have, but this yielded no results.
I have looked in my services tray and discovered that vsmon.exe has a far higher CPU time value than I expect it to, but other than this I can't find anything unusual.
The stuttering has made using my computer frustrating, and it bothers me that a brand new laptop is wigging out. Prior to this error the only other problem I've had has been a random system crash which while scary, seemed to be fixed by a system restore, but what caused it.
Audio :: No Sound In Videos - No Changes Made To Laptop?
Sep 5, 2013I have an Acer Aspire V5 laptop.It has a celeron cpu,and is a basic small laptop. I listen to video news online,and i have not installed or uninstalled any software prior to the problem of no sound in videos since it last played back video with sound.
I have tried to play the same video on firefox and internet explorer,and there was no sound,only video. The browsers are using FlashPlayer as far as I know.And the speakers (realtech are the default speakers-found in the control panel/sound.Is there another sound setting? The sound card works as skype works.
The volume link is not available on the video played in both browsers.And the mute button is available in IE but not in Firefox,but it is not muted(as I have checked). And the volume which is accessed from the bottom right hands side of windows is at max.
Freezes When Streaming Videos - Audio Continues Normally
Jul 8, 2014I have brand new MSI GT60 laptop with GTX870M ,i7-4800MQ CPU and 8gb ram.
There is a random 2-3 second freeze every few minutes while i am streaming videos(any site CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News, youtube, etc). they don't play smoothly at all , they play so laggy. during this freeze audio does not loop or freeze, it continues normally.
i have tried the following
1. i have updated all the drivers video, network, sound.
2. Tried a different browser (both Firefox and Chrome).
3. Used the killer cleaner and installed the pure drivers.
4. Tried the killer package from MSI support page, recovery disc and the version from Qualcomm site.
5. Gave up and installed a brand new windows 8.1 as a secondary boot, same issue.
6. tried disconnecting all USB devices and everything , still freezes.
This particular issue could not be a temp thing, since it starts right from the moment i switch on the laptop. Also i don't notice any lags when i am playing games or playing videos using some video player(BS player/VLN)
Its not an internet issue as well, videos would have completely buffered already but would still freeze. Looks like a flash player issue, i have tried 3 versions of flash player (11,13,14 ) all have this issue, i just cant solve this.

Audio :: Missing Sound In Speakers After Playing Few Videos?
Apr 14, 2014I had my laptop for about a year now. The problem is after watching 3-4 videos, the sound will not work on the next file. I tried restarting and it worked! But after another 3-4 videos, there was no sound again. Another thing is when I open a music file, it works again. But the cycle just goes on.

Aug 16, 2014I have been having an issue recently with my Windows 8 HP laptop where it'll just stop playing videos (whether if streamed through the internet such as you tube or if played on the actual computer as a downloaded video) or the sound for said videos just won't play. The problem can usually be temporarily fixed by restarting my computer but it gets annoying to restart my computer constantly because a video is not playing or the sound is not working so I am trying to see if there is a permanent solution. Adobe flash player is up to date and the problem has been occurring before and after I updated flash player.

May 7, 2013While playing a video or games or any app that has sound... the sound suddenly disappears if it is too loud. At first I thought it might be the driver... so i replaced HD Audio with Conexant... but the problem still persists, which lead me to believe that it could be probably the speaker's problem.
But while tweaking around I found that if i quit the video or the game, the sound came back to normal. And also when the sound goes off,the green bar on the volume tray icon still keeps jumping up and down indicating sound output. Hence audio troubleshooter was of no use.
When i opened volume properties,playback devices (a video playing in the background where the sound had gone off),as i switched between the tabs in the dialog box (playbackrecording,sounds,communincation) the sound came back! This cannot be due to the speaker.
I have reinstalled windows8, updated drivers and everything but no effect. What to do, as i cannot see movies or play games with speaker. Also headphones and external speakers have no problem whatsoever.
Apps / Software :: Flash Videos - Video Hangs At Start Audio Runs Normally
Jun 13, 2014For sometime now, can't say exactly when it started, all Flash videos have a strange startup delay. Videos buffer fast, no complaints, audio starts immediately but the video hangs there up to 7 - 8 seconds showing the first frame and then after this delay, jumps forward to catch the audio and finally plays normally.
I have difficulties to describe this, lets try with other words: I start for example a YouTube video. Audio of the video starts immediately, totally normally, but for the first 7 or 8 seconds the video only shows a still image of the first frame, totally frozen, then jumps to same time spot where audio currently is going and from that point I can watch videos normally. I lose nothing of the audio but visually I am not able to see those first seconds of the video.
When finally both audio and video streams are normal and running, if I switch to / from full screen, the same happens again although the video is frozen only 2 to 4 seconds (audio runs normally), delay being not as long as when video is started.
I have latest Flash installed, the laptop in question is the one told in my system specs. The issue is only when streaming Flash videos; disabling Flash for instance in IE11 and using HTML5 player instead, all videos (even YouTube) work as they should, both audio and video starting immediately.

Aug 21, 2014Recently I decided to go ahead and update to the Windows 8.1 version of the Realtek HD Audio Driver. I procrastinated because it told me I'd have to uninstall the original audio driver and I knew it would take a while to do everything needed. It didn't work that after uninstalling the original audio driver, then restarting like Windows told me to do, I kept getting error messages that forced my computer to restart until eventually my computer let me log in and install the updated audio driver.
However, with the updated version of this driver I had the same issue I got with the original one only much much worse. The original Realtek HD Audio Driver that I had on my computer made music and videos sound absolutely awful when headphones were plugged in. I found out that this is because the driver automatically puts on so-called "enhancements" whenever headphones are plugged in. This was a very simple fix, simply go to "Sound", then under "Playback" you click on "Speakers", then go to "Enhancements" and check the box labeled "Disable all sound effects." Then sound through headphones would return to normal.
Well, with the Window 8.1 version of this audio driver, I can do the same thing, but it never stays that way. Every time I plug in my headphones, it resets back to having enhancements. The strange thing though is that it says the enhancements are disabled but when I reactivate the enhancements(No difference in sound quality) then deactivate it again, suddenly the sound through my headphones is back to normal.
Did the audio driver not install properly? Is there something I can do to permanently disable the audio enhancements?

A while ago, my PC was having some lag issues that made the computer practically unusable. I found out in msconfig that I had almost all services running. I disabled many of the services, and I made sure not disable the necessary ones (i.e, Windows Audio.) I restarted my computer and there was a red circle with a white "X" over the audio icon. I clicked on the icon. A window named "Playing Audio" opened. On the window was a bar similar to the one shown while loading/downloading something. Above the bar said "Detecting Problems" and then "Scanning for hardware changes...". This went on for about 10 seconds. After this, the window changed. At the top in blue was "Troubleshooting has completed". Under that was "The troubleshooter made some changes to your system. Try attempting the task you were trying to do before." In the center of the window was "Problems found-Hardware changes might not have been detected".
In the search bar, I typed "Manage audio devices". When I opened it up, the window told me that there were no audio devices installed. I have checked in Device management under "sound, video and game controllers" That I have sound drivers installed (AMD High Definition Audio Device & High Definition Audio Device.) I have tried multiple times to uninstall/reinstall the drivers to no avail.
Audio :: No Sound For About 5 Minutes - HDMI Audio In Some Sort Of Suspended Mode
Jan 9, 2014I have Windows 8.1 x64 and the following:
Radeon HD5450
Samsung TV connected via HDMI to graphics card
AMD HDMI High Definition Audio Device
Realtek HD audio
I have a strange problem that has not always been there but just recently if I don't have any sounds for about 5 minutes the HDMI audio seems to go into some sort of suspended mode and when I click on (generate) a sound (either system or music etc) it takes about 30 seconds for the sound to actually appear (manifest itself) through the Samsung TV speakers.
At first I thought it might be some conflict with the Realtek HD audio so I have disabled this (mobo built-in sound) in the BIOS and uninstalled the realtek drivers. This did not work.
I then thought it was probably an update to the Sound drivers or the graphics drivers for the ATI / AMD Sound card. I have installed the latest catalyst drivers and this did not work. I then fully uninstalled the catalyst drivers including the HDMI Audio and installed an earlier version 9.2.00 from 2012. This did not work either.
The only Playback Audio Device I have in the Sound settings is Digital Audio (HDMI) and I have tried disbling all audio enhancements. This did not work.
Please note that this happens even if I am using the computer (i.e. the screen can be on all of the time and it still happens after a few minutes).
Other things I have tried:
Power Config - disabled Link State Power Management for the PCIe card
One think I have observed (and I am not sure if this is a symptom or a cause) - The "Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation" process uses about 3-4% CPU while the 30 seconds or so elapses between the sound being invoked and it playing through the speakers. the rest of the sstem is relatively in idle. I can reproduce this by clicking on the sound and adjusting the volume a tad. It is meant to make an immediate "bing" sound to show the sound level is clicked or changed.
If I wait the 30 seconds then the sound eventually comes and then if I click on it again (or do other sound related things) then the sounds are instantaneous. Its only of I leave it 5 minutes or so with no sound activity. If I wait, say, 2 minutes the sound is instant too so long as their has been a sound event in the prior 5 minutes or so.

Sep 15, 2014I have a windows 8 laptop and today the sound just stopped working. The windows audio service will not enable and everytime i try to enable it fails due to a duplicate in Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
Now tricky part is i cant open control panel as it doesn't load, i tried reinstalling windows 8 but it also not load. This all was working perfectly just earlier today. I have no sound, just an x by the sound.

Sep 15, 2014I need removing the SmartAudio application from my Control Panel. Every time I click on it, it says "failed to initialize" - I no longer have it nor do I need it. I would just like to get rid of it from Control Panel, it's not slowing my system down or anything, it's the OCD in me that is killing me seeing a non working function there!

Jul 27, 2013When I watch YouTube videos I get random stutters where the sound skips. The image doesn't seem to freeze though, just the sound
I also get issues with the sound streaming music online, where it pauses for a second and stutters even though it's not buffering.
When this happens, NT Kernel & System shoots up in task manager and uses more CPU than the browser. This by the way happens in every browser, IE, Chrome or Firefox.
It doesn't happen when playing music in iTunes or watching videos from my hard drive.
That being said I'm not posting about a buffering type stutter, I am aware of that and this is not it. This is like basically suddenly the computer has a big spike in memory or cpu usage and the video/sound clip stutters for a sec. But it happens often enough to be very annoying. In a 15 min YouTube clip it happened 10 times.
I have reinstalled my IDT High Definition Codec and my Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver, but still the problem persists.

I am using Windows Pro 64 Bit, and I have latest Realtek Driver, I have tried High Definition Audio but again no solution.
I have read that if I choose "Separate all input jacks as independent input devices" from Realtek Audio Manager's Advanced Settings, I am sure the problem will be solved, but I do not have Advanced Settings.

Audio :: Dolby Audio Driver Not Working After 8.1 Update?
Oct 24, 2013I updated to 8.1 because supposedly, it was to offer features similar to win 7. Instead, it's even worse than win 8. Now, the sound quality on my laptop is lousy because the Dolby Audio driver receives an error message and isn't working. I went to Lenovo (I have a Ideapad N Series 580) and followed these instructions from Lenovo and microsoft, which unfortunately didn't work. I'm still getting the same error message. I wish I had never heard of windows 8.1! Many have had this same problem after installing 8.1. This instructions are from Answers.Microsoft, but didn't work.
Open Device Manager. (Right-click on the Start button and choose Device Manager).
Expand the Sound, Video and Games Controllers section.
Right Click on the Conexant Smart Audio HD item and choose Uninstall.
Still in Device Manager, click on Action>Scan for new Hardware.
The Conexant Smart Audio item will re-appear.
Right-Click on it and choose update driver.
Navigate to d:driversaudio.
When that's done, close Device Manager.
Open File Manager and navigate to D:driversAudioDolbyGUI and install Dolby Home Theater.
These instructions are from Lenovo and didn't work.

Jan 28, 2014So about a month after I bought my computer,all of a sudden there was no audio comming from my headphones or speakers. i do have to say that windows 8 was a bit new for me because i was using windows xp the only way i can get audio now, is by plugging in a usb with bluetooth connection. even HDMI won't work. i'm getting no errors when running errorchecker.

The front port worked with Ubuntu and other Linux distros but it seems to be the opposite case with Windows 8.1. Feb 2, 2014Two programs are creating audio outputs such as a game program and iTunes, I desire to send the game program to my headset while remain the iTunes audio to my default playback device, speakers.
I am wondering if there is audio management software. Similar to how if I am on Skype I can communicate through headset and hear them on the headset while the audio on iTunes by default is outputted through the speakers.

But now, i cannot get any audio from the audio jacks, they are detected, but no sound is produced and I just cannot figure it out. I've disabled the HDMI, installed, un-installed, re-installed audio drivers and pretty much any method and i can find thus far and nothing at all has worked. I'm a huge lover of music, and the is driving me insane!
Note: The speakers are fine, they work with my iPhone.

Dec 18, 2012Recently upgraded my Dell Latitude E6420 to Windows 8.
When I attempt to use my Sony TV as a second monitor via HDMI cable, I no longer get audio. Cable is fine and worked previous to upgrade.
Video comes up fine. In "Playback Devices" (with both "Show Disabled" and "Show Disconnected" devices checked), Digital Audio is greyed out and unable to be selected as a default device - simply says "Not plugged in".
I've tried updating various drivers, but to no avail.

example - i am watching something on youtube and want to adjust the audio but within my sound options i dont see graphic equaliser at all .
i done have a dedicated sound card yet but until i do i need to be able to sort out and adjust audio for things like youtube/twitch/and spotify
is there a really good free graphic equaliser available to download or even a paid one . i dont know why but i swear my audio was better on windows 7 .
i also have a xfi mb built into my motherboard i believe as it used to work on windows 7 but since i changed operating systems it has obviously gone . where can i download the x-fi mb programme for windows 8.1 ? it is the basic version with just a control panel and built in equaliser
Audio :: Losing Audio When Plugging In Any USB Device
Jul 17, 2014why my audio goes every time I plug in my mouse or external hard drive into one of the usb ports. The only way I can get audio back is by restarting the computer.
I'm running Windows 8 on ASUS UX32VD.
I've gone into Sound settings, Communications tab, and selected Do Nothing.
