Would I not get the same result if I created a Disk and Partition Backup using a program like Acronis or Easeus? That way I hope to keep all my initial system, personal files and third party applications.

Accounts :: Prevent All But Admin Accounts To Create More Accounts?
Sep 10, 2013I just bought my 15 year old son a laptop with Windows 8. I was able to set up my Admin account and his "standard" account, and put a time curfew and limits on his account, but when I logged in as him, I saw that he would be able to create another account which would pretty much defeat the whole time limit thing! Is there a way to prevent all but admin accounts to be able to create more accounts?? I'm pretty technically savvy but this new Windows 8 is not as easy to navigate as the previous versions!! (I wouldn't mind a "classic view" either, if that exists!)

Dec 13, 2013Why can I not sync my Global Address Book? When I add info via active directory, it updates in the GAB, not in the contact list, and the contact list is what shows on the phone....and is what we need to update as we add info!!!!! Why isn't this possible? That isn't "syncing" that is just refreshing what is already there! We have around 500 employees, and having to log into each of there emails and add new contacts manually is NOT ok.
How do I sync my droid with exchange's GAB? Like I said, I can copy all of the GAB to contacts, but that doesn't do anything? It doesn't update in there when you add or change information..

This is pretty insane because all I had to do was enter an email address; no name, no password, nothing. Now, all I have is an email address, and of course no name and no password. So, exactly how am I supposed to enter a name and password din SQL server, for the security to work, or whatever, when these things don't exist, and there's no way to create them.
I've been working on this project for weeks now, simply because every time I need to do something, I literally can't do what I need to do.
The REAL problem is that I have to use SQL Server to login to Windows. My Windows 8 works fine, and my SQL Server works fine, but they won't work together. That's the entire problem that I'm dealing with.

Jul 9, 2013So I was selling my computer to my grandmother, and my dad took it over to her house to set it up. He somehow managed to completely lock everything down. He created an account for her, but we never once were able to log into it. But he also deactivated me as an administrator.
So now I have my computer back, and I am trying to set up the accounts, but I cannot do anything as I am no longer an admin. From what I have gathered, im up the creek without a paddle!
How do I create an administrator account without an admin accoutn already in place?

Then I disactivated Skydrive in the registry according to the following. How to Get Rid of SkyDrive in Windows 8.1 Explorer.It does the same as this tutorial but set the value at 0 rather than f090004d.
I did set it back to f090004d.
I can no longer create a new account, hotmail or local. It goes through all the first process, the final screen is 'Let's start' but end with a blue screen and hangs forever.

Repositioning Start Screen Tile Groups
Nov 2, 2012I'm using an eyefinity setup that makes three monitors appear as one 5292 x1050 resolution monitor. I would like the tile group positions to default to the center of the screens. Right now the tile groups are positioned to the far left of the left monitor. Is there anyway to get the tile groups to stay more to the center of the available screen space so I don't have to keep looking to far left all the time? I'd also like to know if there's a way to add space between tile groups. The bezel compensation eyefinity feature is causing some rows of tiles to get covered up. Are there any settings for this or registry hacks I don't know about?

May 31, 2014I started using Windows 8 for the first time today and actually like it quite a bit. I think with some tweaks, I will like it more than Windows 7 and previous versions of the OS. However, I have spent approximately an hour trying to figure out one thing.
I would like to have two tiles in two different groups for the same program. Let me provide an example for ease of understanding.
On the Start screen, I have one group titled Browsers. In it, I have tiles for multiple browsers, including Firefox. In another group, I have Work, where I have productivity applications. I would like to have the Firefox tile appear in both the Browsers group and the Work group.

Jun 10, 2013I am using windows 8 pro OS. I have only one local account on my machine. My account is already in Administrator groups. I have checked that.
My problem is that I am not able to create/change any user account from control panel. After traversing to Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsUser Accounts.
There are all the different links named as below:
Change your account name
Change your account type
Manage other account etc..
However when I click on any of these links, nothing happens at all !!!
What could be the possible reason of this? Window is updated, I am able to do other stuff that only admin can do for example: installing/uninstalling software, running system tools etc. Moreover I am able to make changes to user accounts from Computer Management.

How To Undo The Custom Size From 500%
May 12, 2014I increased the custom sizing to 500 and now I can't undo it, and I can't do anything at all actually. I do not have a system restore point either, my Windows 8 doesn't let me for some reason... this is a serious glitch I cannot believe there is nothing to prevent this.
I did have a system restore, got to it by holding Shift when selecting restart. I was nervous about using it but it said none of my documents would be erased so I guess it worked out. Microsoft owes me a tablet!!! Seriously though, quit making new products until you can actually build one that works properly.
Custom Scaling Of DPI Of Modern UI In 8.1?
Nov 19, 2013I am running Win 8.1 on a Yoga 2 Pro convertible laptop with a 3200 x 1800 res screen. Although my DPI scaling is set to 250%, the Modern UI tiles and text (Start screen) are still too small. In addition, many of the apps show text that is too small, as well.
This Eightforums article showed a terrific registry hack to adjust this in Windows 8. Unfortunately, the article warns that it does not work in Windows 8.1.
Any way to increase the text size of the Modern UI? As it is right now, it's unusable.
Cursor Changes From Custom To Hand

Nov 11, 2013I recently had a computer custom built at my local Fry's (not so local though..) 2 weeks ago.
On the second day, the CPU was BSOD hourly, and after bring it to Fry's, they said the power supply was bad, and they replaced it.
I'm still having issues with random BSOD and would rather not bring it to Fry's to have them trouble shoot it for a few days, replace the "bad" component, and give it back to me with the same issue.
My CPU and Motherboard temps average 30-35c even while gaming.
I'm beyond the "return" time frame and only have 2 weeks of build support left from Fry's.

Aug 27, 2014My PC freezes when I'm just browing the web. It doesn't happen when I'm decoding a video, or when I'm playing a game, or running an emulator. It always happens when I'm browsing, or during idle. All of a sudden there's a slowdown, and the right mouse click menu takes a while to appear. When the right click menu appears it's kind of transparant/greyish and then it fully appears but none of the options work. For example I right click on the desktop and click task manager, but it never appears. I can minimize/maximize windows but cannot close or open new ones. Then it's completely frozen, I can't do anything other than move the mouse around.
Yet Metro UI still works, somewhat until it slows down and completely freezes again. I cannot restart or shut down PC, I have to do it manually by holding down power button or pressing the reset button.
I get no error messages... I used to have malware antibytes installed but removed it. I have all the drivers up to date (motherboard, sound, graphics card, intel, and windows updates of course).
Deleted graphics drivers and installed latest ones and the problem still persists.

Windows 8.1

I have dual monitors set up, one at 1920x1080 and another one at 1600 x900 on DVI from graphics card. It's happening very frequently now, after about 15 minutes, no matter what I do.

Dec 29, 2013When I entered recimg/show current in elevated cmd , I get the message : There is no active custom recovery image.
However when I checked disk management , I get the following partitions:
EFI System 50mb
OEM 40mb
Recovery Partition 2GB
OS C 50.12Gb
Recovery Partition 5.42Gb
What are in those 2 Recovery Partitions ? Are they the 2 restore points I created? Why is the second Recovery Partition so much larger than the first?
Changing How Custom Sleep Shortcut Works

Instead of waking computer by using the power button, is there a way that I can go back to waking with the keyboard (like it is if I sleep from start menu).
