Win7 Is Not Take Up The Whole Screen
Nov 29, 2009I upgraded to windows 7 from xp and after i did that my display is not taken up the whole screen can anyone help me out.

Win7 Loading Screen
Jan 16, 2009Ok. I have Windows 7 x64 on my computer, and I have seen that with Windows 7 there is a new loading screen. All that I ever get is the same boring green bar like in Vista. Did I do something wrong, or is there an option to change it?

Black Screen Win7 Problem
Sep 24, 2009I've been using Windows 7 for about 2 weeks and I didn't have much issues with it. Today when I turned on my laptop, everything was booting fine until the welcome screen where I enter my password to log in. It gives me a blank page but it's not loading at all, I see my mouse not to mention. It's working fine when I boot up from safe mode though, that's how I'm typing this :P.Anyways, I really need someone to help fix this.

Jan 7, 2010My comp:Windows 7 (x32), MSI (865GNeo2), GeForce 6200.
After Windows 7 installation get in random time way, black screen for 1 to 2 seconds in very "soft" way.
In Even Viewer, Custom Views, Administrative Events have only one type of Warning:"Name resolution for the name wpad.phub.net.cable.rogers.com timed out after none of the configured DNS serves responded".
UsedWin7 DVD to "repair and upgrade". No solution.
Delete and install again NVIDIA. No solution.
Windows and drivers are update.
Will appreciate very much for suggestion.
Touch Screen Monitors For Win7?
Mar 16, 2009You know, I've been well impressed over this last week of running Windows 7 that I've treated myself to a new large computer desk, a new case (Antec Skeleton) and a nice set of Creative speakers. Now it suddenly occured to me that Microsoft was bragging recently about the touchscreen abilities of Windows 7, and now I'm thinking "where can I get a touchscreen Monitor from, here in the UK?". Hey, I'm a geek!!
Looked on feebay, but they are limited as to what's on offer.
Any suggestions?
Win7 (Pro) Will Not Load Passed Opening Screen
Dec 9, 2009M/c starts with a nice blue screen with left and right icons and mouse cursor all operatig .It will go no further.
when this first occured it went into Repair mode twice - said it could not fix and pointed to System32 DriversWDF01000.sys.Subsequent use of Repair now shows no errors.
Booting to Repair from my installation Disk reports eveything as OK.Moved to Restore point - section shows only one point of todays date -which apparantly was made before an automatic update - ran OK.
I have run SFCscannow but cannot interpret it. - sent to rapiddatashare -lost the ref No. for the moment.
Option For Win7 Disappeared On The Boot Screen
Jun 30, 2009I installed Win 7 sometime around Feb, a dual boot with Win XP. But when I upgraded Win XP to Vista, the option for Win 7 disappeared on the boot screen, and the system would boot straight into Vista. So, I used the Startup repair option from the Win 7, and after rebooting it showed the boot screen with W 7, and Vista. But, after I "repaired" it, Win 7 seems to have lost the Win 7 startup screen. It now shows the "Starting Windows" from Windows Vista, then the Win 7 "welcome" screen.
I realize it's not much of a problem, but is there any way I could get the Win 7 startup screen back?

Oct 3, 2009I had to return to xp mce till I get my W7 ultimate signature edition in a few days and am wondering what is that program for changing your boot screen ?
I knwo it was a freeware and it was compatible with vista xp and w7 so I am gonna use it on my xp systems and once i return to w7 on my main system ..
Sorry havent made any posts in a while I got burried in school and starting my own lan center / custyom build computer shop so I havent had time to do my normal posting and catching up..
IU am however back I got my collage scedual and work scedual to allow me 2 horus of messing around in between plus time for pro gamming WOOT MLGPRO FTW!!!!!
No Screen Recording Software Works On Win7
Aug 18, 2009I cannot find any high quality Screen Recording software that will work on Win 7.
Camtasia Studio 6 installs fine and I have tried ALL compatibilty settings, still NO GO.
ADOBE Captivate 4 will not work either.
I have tried several others, all with the same results.
Outside of me posting 100 different error messages does anyone have a clue where I should start with this problem?
I have been a beta tester for MS since 1992 and this issue has confounded me more than anything I have encountered.
BTW I run an AMD Phenom-X4, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 9800 GT, 4GB ReadyBoost and have DivX and all other CODECS freshly updated.
2nd Win7 Install, Now Vista Loading Screen After Remove
Jun 30, 2009Some might remember I posted a few days ago about installing Windows 7 (64bit) separately on this same comp (different hard drive) to test what drivers worked for the devices I had, in particular the Canon scanner.
Anyway it worked, and I booted into Windows 7 64b fine - but I had a few issues getting back into 32-bit one (64bit one became the active boot. even after i used diskpart and bcdedit etc.
Anyway, I got the 32-bit install to again load as the default (and deleted the 64-bit partition). BUT, I keep getting the Vista booting screen - i.e. the small green loading bar instead of the elaborate "Starting Windows'. I then put in the Windows 7 dvd in and went to repair the install (to try & get the Windows 7 boot screen back), but it wouldnt even find the OS install to repair it.
So basically, its back to the 32bit Windows 7 install fine - but with the older Vista loading screen. Any ideas?

all i cant get is 1600/1200 or above but not he optimal.
9800GT Black Screen Only With Win7/Vista X65 Drivers
Apr 19, 2009I got a Asus P5Q-E Mobo, 8gb ram
Having Windows 7 7077 x64 installed for one week and before the upgrade nearly 2 months with build 7000.
I bought a new gpu, and replaces my old 8500GTS with a new 9800GT,
Problem is, Windows find the gpu, installs standard driver. all fine.
Second, Install new Win beta 7 Drivers (was trying new vista x64 drivers too), and i got black screen and lockup half time in install progress and when doing a hard restart right before Loginscreen also.
Restart, and windows is doing reset, and old drivers back.
Trying to install several times. no luck with any settings or admin settings to install, same problem, black restart black reset, black restart black reset, black restart black reset.... etc etc.
Putting back the old gpu, install same drivers, power of, putt new gpu in, and its getting black...
What is the problem? I cant find any info in systemlogg either, but the gpu works with standard drivers from windows
I hope i havent missed anything
Edit: My psu is Corsair 650w, i got 10 HDs, and it uses max 220-260w what i have tested, a bit more while playing (old gpu)
I will get a Vertex SSD this week, maybe the problems solves when installing a fresh Windows 7 on it? Otherwise i hope someone knows the issue.

Updated Bios on Mobo, Adaptec 2405 and Rocketraid 2320, Still same issue.
I have noticed that the HD led blinks all the time with that gpu, and its gets very hot...
I plugged out the power of my 2x5hds hotswapmodule, so only one hd was active and same error accured, The problems dissapears when i but pack the old gpu.
Black Screen Arrow After Win7 64bit Install
Aug 30, 2009I upgraded from Vista64 to Windows7 64bit final (not a clean install) on an HP M9300T desktop.
Everything worked fine, until the final restart. System will start, I get the colored thingees, I get the Welcome screen, when it should go to my desktop, I get only a black screen with the arrow in the middle. Even if I boot into safe mode, I still only get the black screen...
I've tried reinstalling x4.
I can hit CRTL+ALT+DEL and get to the task manager, and I can run task, programs go on-line etc.
Ran the Nvidia control applet, the monitor is set to native resolution @ 59hz. Don't know if that is causing a problem, I've changed it but it doesn't seem to stay set.
Other than the DVI output I've tried VGA and HDMI outputs to several different screens from the GS 9800 video card, no change.
I even browsed to the Nvidia site and installed their latest Windows 7 64bit WHQL drivers. I've disconnected everything except the keyboard, monitor and mouse, I've pulled every card out of it except the video card, no change?

Apr 24, 2009I've got a big problem this morning. My Windows 7 won't boot! All it does is restart at the loading screen. Win 7 is the only OS i have on the PC atm.
Apparantly i have a corrupted boot file and i have no idea how to fix it in win 7
it says: Root cause found:

No Dual Boot Manager / Option Screen After Win7 Install
Jun 9, 2009I've installed 64bit win 7 on a 2nd partion of my main drive running vista 64bit. The installation all went smoothly and loaded into win 7.
But when restarted I did't get a windows boot manager screen so i could pick if I wish to load Vista or Windows 7, instead my system just loads straight into Vista.
Do I have to enable my system to be able to see the Windows 7 install?

Nov 8, 2009I have purchased and downloaded both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows7 Professional (no CDs or media here only download version)
I sucessfully upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32
Then I upgraded my hard disk (140Gb 500GB) and RAM (3GB to to 4GB)
Now I would like to go from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit
When I try and run the Windows 7-P-retail-en-us.x64.exe file it upacks the box then stops with this error:"We are unable to create or save files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write flies and that that folder is not read only".
I am the System Admin and I have full rights, and have moved the exe and the setup box files to My Documentsand I have modified the directory properties/attributes but I still get the same error over and over.
I searched the posts and some people stated one needs a clean install others say you can upgrade from any version so I am trying the upgrade here especially since the upgrade from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32 was smooth and did require all the extra work of a reinstall.

- Any ideas how I can get the 64bit version?
- For those who ordered the 32bit back-up disc kit for the extra $15 and have received it, does it come with both 32bit & 64bit?
- I've already installed and activated the 32bit version, but when I go to install the 64bit version, will I need to / is there a way to deactivate my initial 32bit install or will this not matter?
Creating Bootable USB For Win7 X64 Using Win7 X86
Sep 23, 2009I'm currently running 32-bit Windows 7 (Professional, full version) on my laptop, and want to use this machine to create a bootable USB drive with 64-bit Windows 7 (also Professional, full version). I tried going through the steps that are available on various tutorials online, but I'm always tripped up while attempting to use bootsect to make the drive bootable; basically I get an error saying that I need to be using a 64-bit OS.
I don't have convenient access to a computer with 64-bit Windows Vista/7 (I work at an academic institution where all pubic computers have XP or Linux), so I'm wondering if there's any way to get around this and create a bootable USB for 64-bit Windows 7 via a 32-bit OS.
Win7 Theme
Oct 25, 2009I am looking for any Windows 7 Theme that includes changing the looks of any window that exemplifies the architectural look of a Mac: sharp edges, and boxy buttons, and colored scroll bars. It doesn't have to be necessarily the Mac theme, but anything around that look is acceptable.
I am fine with tweaking the explorer.exe, and some system32 files.
Any suggestions, comments and questions are always welcome.
P.S. I just got tired of the round look of any window.
Win7 USB Problem
Jan 20, 2009I own a USB Drive ... Dane-Elec 16GB . I have a big problem with the USB on Windows 7 .
This USB have a password protect system and he need to create a virtual floppy drive so i can open the password program in order to get access to the USB .
My problem is that Windows 7 can`t install the virtual floppy drive . I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 as my second OS and the USB works perfect . Same on Windows XP . The only problem is here on Windows 7 . I used Windows updates to get the drivers but still not working .
By the way , if i run W. Vista and disable the password protection then in Windows 7 i can see my USB drive but i need the protection for my USB so if anyone know how to solve it please tell me .
[EDIT] Forgot to mention that i have the latest drivers for the USB even if i make the update from Device Manager i get the next message :
"Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date. USB FloppyDisk Drive"
The XP And Win7 Widescreen
Jun 6, 2009Have an weird issue with Win 7 in the sense of Widescreen support.
I have an 22inch screen and run my games at the native rez of 1680 X 1050
Now the thing is older games like Project Snowblind and NFS:Most Wanted for example doesent support Widescreen as such, obviously. But in XP it seems to stretch the image and run fullscreen without any black edges on screen.
Where as in Win 7 it runs like in unstreched with Black Edges cause of the rez.
In XP even though not in Widescreen res , NFS for example I run 1280 X 1024 it runs full screen stretched, but in Win 7 it runs with the same rez and settings. But doesen't stretch image to rez.
Anyone else experience the same problem or know of a solution. I didin't do anything strange in XP, or change any settings or tweak GFX card drivers.
I tried running in XP Compatibility mode with Win 7, still the same.
I have a Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX card.

Win7 RC Freezes
May 2, 2009I recently installed Windows 7 RC to my laptop and am facing a problem now. Sometimes when I plug in an USB Hard-drive or a ZEN MP3 player, the system does a full lock-up.
I had 7 Beta on the laptop earlier and it had no problems whatsoever. Anyone else experienced/solved similar problems or should I just go try and reinstall?

32 Bit Upgrade To Win7 64?
Oct 17, 20091st. Can I upgrade (clean install) from either XP or Vista 32 bit system to Windows 7 64?
2nd. If the answer to 1st is yes... If the Win 7 64 bit gives too much trouble, will I be able to reinstall and go with Win 7 32 bit.
I believe the future is going to be 64 but I've never used the 64 bit and really don't know what to expect or how smooth the transition will be. Any thoughts or advice???
2 Different Errors On Win7 Set Up
Dec 2, 2009I downloaded Windows 7 x64 and x86. i was in dubai last week and installed the x86 on my parents PC. works like a breeze and the installation couldnt have gone smoother.
I come back to melbourne and try the install on my PC and whether I run it through my current win7beta OS or whether i boot drom cd, both thr x64 and x86 give me error 0x80070241 around the 15% installation mark. after many attempts, i thought that i was perhaps because when doing a clean install, Windows 7 doesnt let you do a full format but only a quick format.
so i got a friends PC and did a full format. x84 installed upto 50% and gave me error 0x80070570.

Win7 Laptop Can See XP By IP, Not By Name
Nov 30, 2009I've read a lot of threads about Windows 7 servers not being able to see XP servers, but didn't see a lot of clear resolution to the issue.
Just got a new notebook with Win 7 Pro (32 bit). I cannot get it to see our office file server by name (633D). However, it can see it fine by IP address (192.168.0.103).
What should I look at first?
Ram Usage On Win7
Jun 4, 2009I Downloaded windows Windows 7 and i like it but it use so much of the ram.
I have 2 Gb of ram and i only use msn, AVG antivirus program and the internet and it use 740 mb of the ram, this is 32-bit.
if i use Windows vista ultimate 64-bit and use the same program then i use about 700-800 mb of the ram..
