View 5 Replies View RelatedI've come to you before, and I'll come to you again when I am in need of your expertise! Two laptops of mine have been broken for a time now, and I decided it was time to fix them, but sadly I couldn't. First Laptop Won't boot in safe mode or in regular. BSOD, but auto reboots, can't read fast enough. When installing Windows 7, it hangs at the "Setup is starting" When attempting to "Repair your Computer" from the CD, nothing will show up. Second Laptop Won't boot gives the "NTLDR" is missing. When booting from Windows 7 CD, Gives "Bootmgr is missing" Edit: Second Laptop now booted from Windows 7 CD without issue now. Currently installing Windows 7. If there's any issues, I'll report it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have two laptops. 30 minutes ago, both of connected just fine. Then I uninstalled two programs called ezvid and Sendori. On both computers. Now one of them cannot open up any web pages, but the other one is completely fine. Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer. None of them work. I've tried the system restore twice, but both times it said that it was unable to restore.
I've also spoken to a Comcast representative and done the CMD ipconfig/release and renew. I've tried it on Safe Mode. I've tried turning off my fire wall. I've even connected the computer to the router with a wire.
I don't know what this means but it popped up after everthing went wrong: "Error loading peer to peer connection. Listening port is blocked and returned port zero, please check you firewall settings and you networks adapters. Downloads and fill lenght videos cannot be watched without the peer to peer library!"
i have a HP laptop and it came with a windows 7 orginal DVD and key. my Question is im thinking of buying a new dell laptop which also comes with installed windows 7 but i wont get a free copy of windows 7 DVD. so should i burn my existing HP's win7 dvd to a blank disc and use that dvd to install windows if needed in my new laptop.. ofcourse ill use different keys cuz keys are always underneath the laptop.
so in short, if i do that i will be able to run geniune windows on both my laptops? use same win 7 dvd but using HP key in HP laptop and dell key in dell laptop?
I was wondering if anyone knew whether sometime in the near future, it will be possible to purchase the discs with drivers etc on them from PC manufacturers?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy roommate and I have noticed that whenever my PC is turned on, nothing else can connect to our wireless -- our phones, laptops, and the PS3 simply won't connect. When we turn it off, all of those can be connected at the same time, but the second windows 7 begins, they'll all lose connection.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to buy a modest laptop but with Windows 7 Ultimate. (I am a one-man business, keep my business on my laptop and take it away on business every week and want good security: I have read that Bitlocker will give me that.)The problem seems to be that most big online suppliers don't even offer any laptops with Ultimate - I can buy laptops with Home, Pro, but not Ultimate. When I do find a supplier online who offers laptops with Ultimate, there are maybe just 2 or 3 and they are high-end prices. Should I buy a laptop with Home or Pro and an Ultimate upgrade license and install the Ultimate myself? (I'm not an IT expert and understand it would need disk partitioning.) Or do most suppliers agree to install Ultimate for the price of the license before shipment?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently found this lovely link to downloads for all VGN-FZ1xxx, VGN-FZ2xxx and VGN-FZ3xxx Sony Vaio Laptops. I recently installed Win 7 Enterprise on my laptop and the one thing I couldn't get to work was the webcam (VGP-VCC8).These drivers have all functionality required for 32 and 64 bit, win XP, Vista and Win 7. Pretty much everything you'd need! Some of the utilities links don't work, but all the driver ones do.

And is it safe to lightly wipe it down with water? Or how about windex?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne day my main desktop stopped recognizing my external 2.5 HD (uses to 2 usb ports for power). Even in "disc management" its not recognized, but the interesting thing is, all other usb devices work perfectly even all thumb drives.
I originally thought my HD was starting to fail, but later realized it worked on my laptop and htpc. Both computers recognized the external drive w/ no problems 100% of the time.
Things Ive done since:
1.Reformat main desktops HD and reinstall windows 7 (32)
2.Reformatted external HD (did it on the laptop)
3. Tried all usb ports with same result
* In the Bios, under "usb config". The drive IS recognizable. But when windows starts up, nothing happens.
But my main desktop still wont read or recognize my external drive. Im guessing its my motherboard (Asus P5KC) or PSU thats giving me the problems? Is my external drive not getting enough power? Is there any other way to trouble shoot this?
new to the laptop scene and thinking bout getting one. All I hear is "no windows disc" and no "restore disc". You cannot reformat, you are stuck with what the manufacturer gives you. So the question is if I get a licensed win 7 disc can I do a reformat of the laptop and have on it only what I want? Eliminate all the OEM bloat and control. Seems like a laptop may not be worth the bother if I cannot reformat it when it needs it.
PS - thinking bout a laptop cuz I may be moving and the tower will be on a ship for a month lol
So I bought a crossover cable just to connect two laptops. Like, a network. Mine is running on windows 7 and the other laptop is running on Vista. So I configured both laptops to be in the same workgroup (left the homegroup in Windows 7) and configured both NIC's to have an IP in the same class - one of them is 10.1.1.1 and the other one is 10.1.1.2 and subnet masks are the same 255.255.255.0. Now, I should be able to ping each of the laptops. But it pings only from Vista (10.1.1.2) to Windows 7 (10.1.1.1) and not the other way.
Network window in Windows 7 shows some computers in the different network, but in the same building, but does not show the laptop connected with the crossover cable. Network window in win vista does not show any computers. Both computers have some shared folders (for users Guest and Everyone).
I would really like to know what am I doing wrong, and how do I connect these two computers so I could easily transfer some files?
I have a HP laptop thats about a year old now. It was running great at school and when i got home my family decided to purchase a N route. We set it up with the security (pain in the ass) and everything seemed to be fine. About a day later my laptop takes close to 20 minutes to download a 5mb song. It can take almost a full minute or two to open a page such as this or one with pictures on it. Yet when i go on my brothers laptop or use the hardwire, the connection is blazing fast.

I have a 100% CPU Load, using very few ram, and my laptop fan i NOT on, and I'm at 41-43 Degrees Celsius... thats great, where usually my fan would be going nuts. As i am much tooooo lazy to write a tutorial to do this, please check out this link, its on a "under-volting" guide i followed closely, and now my laptop is great. Please remember to STRESS TEST!!!! or you will BSOD a lot... :-) Good luck to all those with laptops!
Applies to all types of Graphics Cards, and Intel/AMD CPU's, HDD and SSD's .
1. Brand of laptop (I want a 17 " ) that would be the best buy.
2. General comments about Windows 7. I see a lot of negative comments re installing updates. Are there other issues of significant magnitude to make one avoid Windows 7?
