I just downloaded new drivers for my Realtek Audio and now every 20 minutes or so I'm getting a message pop up saying "You just unplugged a device from the audio jack." and for about 2 seconds audio won't work, then it will work fine. This has only happened after I downloaded the new drivers. I've checked the physical speaker connection and it's properly in there.I don't know how to get the exact name for my sound card so if that's needed please tell me how.I suspect that it might be because of some other out of date driver, if it is so I would be very grateful if you could give me links to where I could download drivers because besides this update and graphics cards updates I have no idea how to update any other drivers.
A few days ago, one half of the jack of my external speakers got stuck in the female jack of my PC laptop.I am using Realtek HD audio, and I wanted to ask whether it is possible for me to somehow disable the jack and have my audio played through my normal inbuilt laptop speakers, seeing as I will be needing audio from my computer as soon as possible.
My headfone jack (incorporated on the motherboard) is broken, and I bought a USB adaptor to conect my head fones, but it has a low quality.I came to know that it's possible to switch the microfone jack to use it has a audio jack, but I cant figure or research how. I use windows home premium 64bits.

I have a Gateway model MD2614U laptop os Windows 7 home 32bit. When I unplug the headphones to use the internal speakers sometimes the laptop will switch over and sometimes it won't. When it won't switch over. I open the volumes control window and I can see the green bar going up and down with the audio source but there is no sound coming out. I have to end up closing down the program that is producing the sound then the switch over will complete and I restart the program. I also have the same problem when I plug the headphones back in, again no sound from the headphones even though I see the green bar moving. Also some programs that send and receive audio over the internet will lock up when I unplug or plug in ether the headphones and or the microphone.
Recently my audio manager pops up advising that I have diconnected my speakers however, I'll be listening to music or watching tv with no sound loss or interuption. Device manager indicates all drivers are up to date (vers: 6.0.1.6251). What's causing this and how do I correct it?
My audio jack or headphones on Dell Vostro 1015 do not produce sound. The computer recognizes and displays that a headphone has been inserted. The in-built speakers work well. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the high definition audio drivers. I have tried to troubleshoot it with the Windows 7 Professional 32 bit troubleshooter but it does not work. It was working well until a few days ago. I have done a sfc/scannow on it.
So I just got an update for Windows and after the update my headphones stop working. Sound still works with the integrated speakers but whenever I plug in my headphones they don't work. I've tried making the headphones the default device and that didn't work. I have BeatsAudio on my computer so I would like to know which driver update I need to try and fix the issue.
Last month I built my own computer. I am having a problem with my Front I/O audio jacks.- Headset is Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD- I have went into BIOS and enabled my Front I/O- My front I/O is properly connected to my Motherboard- My driver is Realtek HD R267 (Newest driver)I have looked up this problem for quite some time but can't find a way to fix it. People have said to go into Realtek Audio HD Manager and click on the folder next to analog and untick disable front detection. I don't have this folder
My Moterboard is asus m2n68-am plus , problem is that in windows 7 my front audio jack not working.ihave tried many latest realtech audio drivers but nothing , the problem is still continue.
how I would do a 5.1 surround sound set up using only the microphone jack and headphone jack on my laptop - without utilizing an external sound card.
What I am interested in is: would it be possible to reconfigure/reassign the role of each audio port and how would I do that? How would I physically connect a front left/right, rear left/right and sub-woofer cable, to two ports available on my basic laptop? do i have to strip some wires and "piggy-back" the wires. Is what I am asking for possible? I know, the easy thing to do is to go and buy an external sound card like the Zalman-RSSC V2 5.1ch USB sound card, but I already have a desktop with an adequate sound-card for the purposes stated above and I want to try something challenging
I built a barebone kit and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, I installed all the drivers correctly but for some reason Windows keeps detecting the front audio jack as if someone is repeatedly pushing in and out headphones(no pun intended). Audio doesn't work at all through front and back audio jacks, only HDMI. I only get static from the audio jacks.
I have a Touchmate PC with two sets of audio ports (3.55mm jacks or 1/8" ) the front ones are not working (because they are disconnected) so i wish to use the rear ones, however, windows is set up so that the audio output (into my headphones) send information through all ports but the front mic, which is fine because i use the rear output port. My problem is that the microphone settings will only allow the microphone to be read through the front microphone port. Is there any way i can change these settings so that the microphone reads through the rear microphone port.
I rercently came with the following problem without any reason:I have a realtek audio chipset with my mother board.Since some time, the HD audio drivers keeps on detecting/undetecting a device plugged in my front jack (resulting is sound cutoff, which is more than annoying). But, there is nothing plugged. If I plug something then, the detection works right.I'm wondering if it is a software problem, or if there is something wrong with my motherboard or my front jack connector (some kind of shortcut or whatever).
I have realtek ALC898, part of gigabyte Z77 UD5h mobo, windows 7 ultimate 64bit. Rear jack speakers always work, sound always works. But after sleep, the front panel audio jack does not work, ie headphones silent.
Workaround 1) go to device manager, disable realtek high definition audio, then enable it, then front panel audio jack works properly. workaround 2) restart the computer and it works again.
I tried disabling sleep and using hibernate, since I read somewhere that hibernate is like a restart, but apparently it is not. Using hibernate, once it resumes from hibernate, front jack still doesnt work just like using sleep mode.
It sounds like resuming from sleep mode or hibernate mode, that windows 7 is failing to reinitialize some of the realtek audio drivers, at least those associated with front panel audio jack for headphones. So have to restart or disable/enable realtek high def audio in device manager. I have most recent realtek drivers, tried both from realtek, and most recent from Gigabyte, both have same issue. My windows 7 is fully up to date.
Am I right in this is just failure of 7 to reinitialize some drivers?
I have been trouble shooting my sound for quite some time with no results. I've deleted and reinstalled drivers, checked bios, etc. no luck.here are my speccy details
If i remove/uninstall 'High Definition Audio Device' Driver in Device Manager will Windows Update find it again?Because im having crackling issues basicly the sound is really choppy and choppy basicly and it makes my ram go to 100%
I turned my computer on to find no audio playing. My main audio device plays bac audio from DAW just fine but if I load a video in WMP i get a code C00D11B1. If I try to play a test tone in the sound settings I get "Failed to play test tone". I have other audio devices connected and also get the same errors which makes me think this is a registry error or some windows communication error. The only thing I think might have caused this is when I was trying to get my ram to run at 1866. This is a new build and the ram should run at this speed as it is in the QVL but that is another issue. I should also mention that I have tried reloading the device drivers, updated the BIOS, and restyored windows from a previous state with no change.

I installed Windows Vista using my computers recovery disk. Everything was working fine until I updated windows. After the last restart (after the updates) I notice that I am getthing this icon on the bottom right:And if I try to open the Volume controls it opens this window:I removed Windows Vista and now Im using Windows 7 (and thats why I came to this forum) in the hopes that it would fix the issue but it didnt. On Device manager I have no Sound devices:
this device is being used by another application. please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again. is what it is saying when i try to test , its hdmi ti hdmi from pc to tv i got picture but no audio and cable works fine on frineds pc and tv?
Since installing it, I had a problem with my sound, which was as the title states, no audio output device. I've been through several drivers, none of which worked, and I've also tried sound max, which has in fact worked, however I can't stand the little sound bar when you up or down the volume, and it's fairly unresponsive when I use the buttons on my laptop. So in all fairness, I just want the actual driver designed to work with this laptop.I do have a version of Windows 7 Home Premium, not too sure if it'd make much difference, however I'd rather not go through another OS install as I've got most of my stuff already set up on this now!I am good with computers so don't be afraid to get technical, but I just need another angle on this because it's most likely just something I'm overlooking.
In the Sound options window, you would see your several devices under Playback and Recording Devices. The thing is I have audio devices that have a number next to them, eg. "2- Creative Sound Blaster". Windows always does this, but I would like change these device names, and I don't know how.
For a while now(speaking in month terms), my sound would be working just fine. But sometimes when I put it into hibernate(for the night) and turn it back on, my speaker icon would have a red X over it. The only way this goes away is if I leave the computer off for a long time or, spam restarts(lol). What can be the problem here? My guess is that it's getting old or something.
Also, when I try to find it in the device manager, it doesn't show up. It can't even detect it either.
Also, I reinstalled the drivers yesterday, and it worked again....for another few hours. So when I retried doing that, windows update didn't detect the sound card.
I have an acer aspire 5610z and i know it is not compatable with windows 7 according to acer but everything works apart from the audio!when i go onto device manager there is no audio tab but when i go to system> there is a "high definition audio controller" which i have been trying to install the audio drivers to because the usual audio device is not there in device manager.I have done a fresh install and updated the majority of the drivers but i cannot find the audio one anywhere ive tried downloading the vista one and running it in compatibility mode and it is a realtek one that is reccomended.
