Uninstall One Windows 7 Vista While Having Windows 7 Installed?
Dec 26, 2011
I've mistakenly installed windows 7 on F drive while having windows vista on C drive. I think I didn't upgrade it because i needed service pack 1 on windows vista which i didn't have after fresh install so I mistakenly just installed windows 7.Now when I start the computer I get promt to pick one OS at the beginning. I've only use windows 7 and wish to delete vista. Q) how do i delete vista on C driveQ) Will certain things get deleted if I remoe vista?Q) I noticed the computer freezes for 3 seconds and I hear some sound coming from my hard drive and after the sound disappears the computer un freezes (well its not a total freeze but the mouse cursor goes into the loading circle). This didn't happen previously. Will this problem be fixed if i remove vista?

I have inadvertantly installed Windows live on to my husband's Vista laptop. How can I remove it, please?. Is it G-mail that he would have been using before. He would like it back as he is having connection and signing up problems. What is the point of windows live? He certainly doesn't want a hotmail account.

I had Excel 2007 on Windows XP and now just upgraded to Windows 7. Excel 2007 (also tried the beta of Excel 2010) does not work well. The PASTE function losts it PASTE FORMULA and other paste special options. Sometime, it shows up but most of the time it's not there. CUT/INSERT cut cells are also gone.

I installed windows seven and it boots up automatically without giving me the option to boot into my old vista partition.
Background:
I am sure this is something simple, but I can't get it working.
I had vista installed and I used partition magic to repartition my hard drive on my laptop.
I made the new partition come before my old partition, because I wanted windows 7 to be my primary eventually.
I think it may have someting to do with making the vista partition active, but I am notentirely sure how to do that.

I had a Vista computer that crashed. It wouldn't start up. Figured I would try to install Windows 7 on top of the Vista installation. I read that a custom installation would save the old contents in and Windows.old folder, including the user profiles. However, after custom installation the windows.old folder is there, but my Vista profile is gone. Probably because it was password protected. I figured I would be able to find it and elevate my privelegies in Win 7, but seems not. It still seems the harddrive is full of my old information(alot of GB's are used). Is there any way to recover the information? I know the old password and all that, just can't find the information. (Also tried to search for exact file and folder names but they cannot be found).

I got windows 7 ultimate 32bit free from my school, and decided that I wanted to clean install, and not upgrade it. I transferred all my files off, booted the laptop up with the windows 7 disk, and proceeded to clean install. I didn't have the drivers cd for my laptop, but I just wiped my drive and installed 7 anyway. Now I have windows 7 ultimate 32bit, and can only use 3 of my 4 gigabytes of memory.. The thing I don't really understand is the whole upgrading option, and like, I know that it's a windows 7 32bit dvd, but it doesn't seem right to go from 64bit to 32bit. So is there anyway I can make it 64bit without having to buy a new dvd? And if not, how much am I missing out on, with not having 64bit, especially with having 4 gigabytes of ram?

How can I uninstall a Gigabyte raid contoller without crashing my Win 7 OS? Uninstall is being prevented because "the OS is on the contoller"! Win 7 64 bit is on a Crucial SSD boot drive and AHCI is set in BIOS. However the raid controller is setting all internal drives to SCSI!

i have done a complete upgrade to windows 7 from a preinstalled vista. The vista came with my laptop and it had a recovery backup drive on my hard drive. I did create recovery disks but i don't think they are working correctly as when i put them in on a boot up it says windows is loading files but stops half way.
So my question is, if i ever need or want to go back to my preinstalled vista could i and how would i perform this step. I still have my recovery partition and i have not messed with that. But i cannot see my recovery partition in windows 7 but i know its there as the memory is not available.

I bought my laptop about a year ago with Vista 32-bit pre-installed even though it is capable of running 64-bit, and now I'm looking to upgrade to Win7 and would like to make use of it's 64-bit capabilities. Is there any easy way of going about this? Since I got the computer with it pre-installed, it did not come with the 32/64-bit installation CDs for Vista. I can buy the Win7 64-bit upgrade CD from my campus store with my student discount, so I was hoping there would be a way for me to do this easily.

My system dual boots to either Windows 7 or Vista Ultimate, or, at least it is supposed to. Something happened and now the system just boots to Winodows 7 without giving me the choice to boot to either. When I use F6 I find that only Windows 7 is listed in the Operating Systems box.

New laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I have two business programs that won't run on a 64bit system. Partitioned the hard drive to install Vista Home Premium 32bit to create a dual boot system solely to run these two programs. Can't get Vista to load. Followed tutorial meticulously. All goes fine until the "Vista will boot for the first time" step. After this first boot, the screen returns to the "completing installation" page. However, the process dies here and the progress bar across the bottom of the screen never moves, even after an hour. Reformatted the partition and started over with same results. Multiple attempts always die after the first boot.

I have two drives (C and D) with Vista on one and Win 7 on the other (not sure if they're actual drives or partitions of a single drive, how do I tell?). I am dual booting and never use Vista. Starting to need the disk space and want to delete Vista. Is this difficult in this scenario?

I had recently installed windows 7 on my laptop running windows vista. I did not remove the existing windows vista installation, and thus win 7 was installed in a dual boot combination. Now, i want to remove vista from my laptop and use windows 7 only. The problem is that during installation, win 7 was installed on logical drive and windows vista was on the primary drive. Thus, i cannot delete/format the windows vista partition. Also I cannot transfer the boot drive to the partition containing win 7 because the vista partition is the active one.

I have a legitimate copy of Windows Vista with key codes etc and I have a legitimate upgrade disk for Windows 7. I had Windows 7 installed on a previous system build which had a HD crash and now I am starting again from scratch (wiyh backed up data).
Like a dolt, I installed Wondows 7 before I remembered it was an upgrade edition. I've looked all over the MS site and don't see a method I can use to Activate Windows 7 from this point. way to use my legitimate Windows disks and keys without having to wipe the drive, install Vista and then install Windows 7 yet again.
It's aggravating to have legitimate software and not be able to use it without needing to trick the system - surely there is a way to not have to start all over?

I had Windows XP on one of my laptops and installed Windows 7 on a seperate partition to see how it would cope. Well.... it doesn't cope at all.I have the dual boot screen when I start the laptop and the default is of course the last O/S system loaded. i.e. Windows 7.Unless I am quick enough to change the bootup, it tries to load Windows 7. And when I say tries, I mean 'tries'. Windows will load after about 20 minutes but is unusable. Nothing will respond. Nothing will function.I cannot change the boot sequence on XP. I have to 'be in' Windows 7 environment to edit the boot sequence, but I cannot get there. How do I either competely uninstall 7 or at the very least change the boot sequence without 'loading' Windows 7?

So basically, a couple days ago, I installed a new ASUS Mobo, Intel CPU and Vengence RAM. But when I tried to boot into Windows 7, it would act like it was loading just fine, and then get a BSOD so quick that I couldn't read it, and fail to boot (I do not have an OEM copy of Windows). With not many options, I decided to reinstall Windows to fix my problem. And in that install screen, it listed all of my HDDs, without letters. I was like "uh-oh, which one is it?" So, I pick one, and it's the wrong one. But, instead of removing Windows from what was my D drive and now is my C drive, I'd like to just remove Windows 7 (the still corrupted one) from my now D drive. Is that making any sense? lol So anyway, I know that you can't just "uninstall windows", and I've read about just deleting the file folders... but that I have to give myself permissions to do it. Of course, I can't seem to do that. I have several to choose from, including "trustedinstaller" "creatorowner" "System" "Administrators" nothing seems to work. They even have full access and permission, and when I try to delete the Windows folder, it says "you must have permission to continue" I click okay, it continues, and then says it can't delete the folder. When I try to give permission to one of those names, it denies access for the Windows folder.Oh, also, formatting is really out of the question, as this D drive has all my precious files on it that I can't lose. But, I do have enough space to maybe partition it, copy it all over, and then format the windows partition?
