View 3 Replies View RelatedSo My new Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit PC doesnt seem to want to sleep. I'm away to work for a day at a time and when I get home the PC is up and running.I found this article:Windows 7 will not sleep or not sleepingwhich indicates to update driver, particularly the video card driver. I go to the vendor site and download the newest driver. I go to Device Manager open Display Adapters and find my card, double click on that and I'm in the properties. The driver date is 9/2010 so there is definitely a newer driver. Click on update driver/search on computer and navigate to the folder where I downloaded the new driver. I click next and get "Windows has determined that the current driver software for the device is up to date" and thats it, no apparent way around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new motherboard and processor today and whenever I boot up the pc I have to go into safe mode because if I boot as normal it will stay on the windows welcome screen with the rotating loading circle and will stay there. But when I boot in safe mode I cannot access my driver cd, it tells me to reinstall the program or something. So basically i'm stuck in a loop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy dads laptop has suddenly stopped recognizing any type of usb device properly that has not been used before. This includes 2 memory sticks and a 250gb Hdd. What happens is the devices are visible in the device manager, However they are not being recognised as Usb mass storage devices and are "Unknown". Windows update fails to find the drivers for them despite the fact when plugged into my pc it finds them instantly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 Ultimate just fine on my Dell GX270, although I still need a new PCI graphics card. I select Custom so I could do a clean install. But it left all my files on the C: drive. I wanted to format the drive first. Problem is the TechNet Windows 7 Ultimate DVD won't boot.
What is my next best selection? Searches for boot cd's looked too complicated to build.
My Mom has an HP laptop. She recently purchased a new HP printer and I have been trying for the last 4 days to get it to install/connect. I've been in touch with HP but the links they provide aren't resolving the issues. First, using the CD that came with the printer: hangs up at around 85-90%. It doesn't not show up as installed. I copied the CD to the desktop, modified Setup.exe in CFFExplorer and Run as Administrator and it appears to completely install; however, when I go to Device Manager, it says no driver is found.
I sometimes have the option to update and sometimes that seems to work but I can't access it through Add a Printer (which has the green bar run across the top, then pulsate and freeze). Trying to install using the driver I download from HP results in no installing screen appearing but it does hang up in the background and the only way to stop it is to Restart. The same thing happens if I try to use HPs Wizard. I've installed several HP printers through the years and not had this much trouble. That doesn't even include the dozens of times I've had to reinstall my own HP printer because of its contrariness!
Additionally, attempts to uninstall the old printer results in it hanging up/freezing soon in to the process, whether I try to uninstall from the Start menu, file or Uninstall program. I'm not even being able to get the Windows Updates to install - that process also just hangs up/freezes. I've not checked her machine in a while so there are many updates; however, when I just choose 1 at a time, it still sits at 0% and never moves. The printer, when connected, is with the USB and I've tried all 4 USB ports on this just in case. Am still in touch with HP but they are sending me the usual links so I'm hoping perhaps someone here can think of something a little less ordinary!
why dell gx270 is not giving proper resolution on window7 however i have installed drivers?

I tried changing the registry entries as described in this forum but no effect. I am stuck. Tried re-installing the device driver too but no effect. Still the same.
recently my laptop has stopped working completely. It previously had Windows Vista Home Basic 64bit installed. Eventually, it stopped starting up and just remained stuck at loading drivers, no matter how I went about starting it (Safe Mode, Safe Mode with command prompt, normally, etc). I decided it was time for me to ditch Vista anyways and procured a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit disk from a family member. After some initial troubles with installation I followed online advice to format my computer first. After some navigating I managed to open up the command prompt and format successfully. However, the problem I had before still remains; once I go to 'Install Now' and then 'Custom', it asks me 'Where do you want to install Windows?'. At the bottom of the screen, it notes that 'No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation'. Now, I've gotten drivers on several different devices, whether it be SD card, USB, or CD. None of it worked.I've seen that many others have had this same problem, but never under the same circumstances as mine. Here are the specs of my computer that I could gather from the PhoenixBIOS menu:
CPU Type: AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual-Core QL-64
CPU Speed: 2.10 GHz
IDEO Model Name: WDC WD3200BEKT-60V5T1-(S1)
ATAPI Model Name: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT20N-(S2)
System BIOS Version: V1.05
VGA BIOS Version: BK-ATI VER010.094.001.008.031368
KBC Version: 03.40
Product Name: NV52 Series
Manufacturer Name: Gateway
I'm having major problems playing HD video. This includes my own home videos (1440 x 1080 / 29 fps) and dual-layer DVDs. I can't use WM Player because it's useless, the picture looks like a moving oil-painting. I can't use VLC player because the audio cuts out every few seconds when I play either HD video files or a dual-layer DVD. I can't use GOM Player because the audio lags severely when I play HD video files and it squeezes my wide-screen videos into a square for some reason (it's okay with dual-layer DVDs though, thankfully). I can't use KM Player because it just won't start, no matter how many times I reinstall it.EDIT: The GOM Player audio lag is caused by the software playing the video at several times normal speed, but not speeding up the audio.

I recently upgraded to the MS 2007 Enterprise suite on our media computer, and having trouble playing video in PowerPoint. I insert my movie via Insert > Movie > Movie From File. I found out that if I right-click and Preview the movie, it will play fine in my slide, however when running the slide show it will play only audio.Notes: It will play audio only either when asking it to start automatically or on click. It is listed as MS Compatible files (WMV). The movie is located on the PC locally in the same folder as the PPT. The movie plays fine in Windows Media Player. I've read through "Compatible multimedia file formats" and "My movie doesn't play" articles on MS website regarding version 2007.

I'm an IT student who got a free Win 7 x64 disk from my school, and I am unable to do a clean install. My system specs are as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.12 Ghz
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512 MB PCI-e
320 GB Western Digital HD SATA
1 Gb DDR2 1066 MHz and 2x2Gb DDR2 1066 MHz SDRAM
I set my boot sequence to boot from DVD-ROM drive first, and HD second. It goes to the "Windows is loading files" screen and gets hung up. I started the process and went to watch TV for an hour, and it is still on the "Windows is loading files" screen. I haven't gotten any error messages. I've unplugged all USB devices from my computer as I have seen on this forum that it has worked for some people.
edited to add: I originally had only 2 Gb of RAM, and it got hung up at the "Windows is loading files" screen. I thought it was getting hung up because I didn't have enough RAM, so I bought brand new 2 sticks of 2 Gb RAM. I took out one of the 1 Gb sticks and placed both of the 2 Gb of RAM...for a total of 5 Gigs. And, it is still doing the same thing.
I have just installed 7137. while ms drivers are nice, I think I will get the nvidia one (better game support?). The official nvidia drivers are released May 6 (before 7137) , so is it wise to install those drivers or stay the the ms ones?
