View 1 RepliesLast night I was on the internet at home absolutely fine and my laptop automatically downloaded an update, since then I have been unable to connect to my wi-fi. I deleted the updates and was still unable to connect, so I tried to used a system recovery restore point and every one I use starts but fails to complete. So, I did a factory reset after around 8 hours of trying to sort it out today and I STILL have the same problem. I can plug in the cable to connect and my housemate is having absolutely no issues connecting and neither is my phone so now I am at a total loss what I should do to resolve this. Prior to the factory reset I was able to connect to the wi-fi but it was stating no network access/limited access and now it simply won't connect to my internet at all. It finds my full strength signal but will not connect. My drivers for the Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n card are the most up to date and the laptop (HP G62) says it is working fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with my daughter's laptop accessing the internet with her wifi, She accidentally reset her laptop back to factory settings. She also didn't make any recovery disks. The problem is now the laptop keeps asking for a network user name/Password when she tries to access the internet. I have researched this issue but to no avail. I am curious as to how to resolve this issue. I feel the only way may be to reset the wireless router back to factory settings and start again.

View 6 Replies View Relatedwhy, when connecting wirelessly under Windows 7, to a wireless access point I am unable to change the "Network Type" from Public to Home, thus no connection to the Internet is allowed? I cannot change any of the parameters of the network at all. Under XP on the same network I have no problems at all.I have set up three access points by simply adding additional wireless modems (of the same brand as the primary modem), turning off DCHP and U PnP and assigning a unique IP address, to avoid DCHP conflicts (as I understood it).Which change would I have to make to the access points such that Windows 7 fully recognises each access point and allow me to assign them to type "Home"?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an intermittent problem with networking my desktop machine to my laptop. Sometimes after I hibernate my laptop and then wake it up, I am unable to access my shared drives on my laptop from my desktop. I am always able to go the other way (access shared drives on desktop from laptop. When it does this, even reboots of both machines don't help.
I just asked Windows 7 to diagnose and I get this. Usually after "messing" with the network settings, log offs, reboots, who knows, it usually starts working both ways again until some later hibernation restart of laptop. I wish I could pinpoint some common things that cause it but I just can't figure it out. Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 N&S center is really slow. I have no idea what's causing it.Symptoms not present when I connect to my wireless router. But when I tether (get a connection from a USB device) the N&S Center stops responding for about 10 minutes. At some point, it will come up with the "Public Network?" box.How can I debug this?Even after the network is initialized, the N&S center is still very slow.I assume it's doing some automatic something or other that keeps pinging this, that or the otherThe USB device would serve an internet connection that has a reasonably high latency.Lots of network tools seem to slow down, especially while the connection is configuring itself. This is probably because all of the services involved are interlinked somewhere, and are waiting on the same mutex to be released or something.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just set up a new ASUS zenbook prime. I set up the wireless network 2 nights ago and had no problems. I then installed Microsoft Office 2010 and the problems started. I started getting errors about ATK0100 driver missing and the wireless function stopped working. I re-installed the ATK0100 driver and that stoppped that error message. I then thought that the wireless adapter may have also been affected by the Offce install so I removed then re-installed that one (Intel Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6235). I also unistalled Office but still hasn't fixed the problem. I can connect via a 4G USB wireless adapter but can't connect to my home wireless modem. I have 2 other laptops (windows7 and vista) accessing the wireless modem. When I try to connect the error is "no network access"" and "Windows was unable to connect to "SSID"". I have tried removing the wireless network and adding it again but to no avail. I have also used the troubleshooter but it can't find anything wrong either. The wireless function is on and I'm not sure what else to try? I have trawled through lots of forums and it seems like quite a few people have the same problem but I haven't yet found an answer.

I have a home network with 2 laptops and 1 desktop. The desktop I use as a "file server" in that all work done on the laptops is stored to the desktop. The desktop computer name is HAL. One laptop is fine and sees the network. The other just stopped seeing it; rebooted the laptop; rebooted HAL; did a number of refreshes without any luck. I opened EXCEL and found a worksheet that was listed that I knew was saved on HAL. Was able to open the file and when I tried the SAVE AS I could navigate through all of HAL just as normal. Went to Windows Explorer and still no HAL listed as a COMPUTER on the NETWORK. I have a internet connection so I know I am making it to the router at least. And when I check NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER it shows an active home network. The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 Build 7601.
Today, I managed to redecorate my bedroom; where my computer sat on top of a shaky, wooden desk. That desk is now gone, caput, and replaced by a much bigger, sturdier and prettier glass replacement. Before I dissasembled the computer to re-decorate, I was able to browse the internet at ease. There were no problems at all...However, after the new desk was setup - and all wires replaced in their correct slots, I find that I am unable to connect to the internet, or even the house's network! For the past year, I have been wired to the router using a RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It was plugged into an extension cord, in my room, into the Ethernet port in the back of my computer. Downstairs, it's twin was situated no less than 2 feet away from the router - plugged into the first port. Now, when I boot up the computer, the network notification presents the following message: "Unidentified Network. No network access", and sometimes presents a yellow ! next to it. So, I am reduced to typing on my mother's laptop - which has no problems connecting to the network.I am able to use the ipconfig /release command, but unable to use the /renew - it hangs in the command prompt, then tells me that the DHCP server cannot be located. The IP, beforehand, was reverted to 169.254.223.117 - before all of this, I was 192.168.0.5?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 different laptops. both running Windows7 and connecting to the internet wirelessly. within a few days of each other they both began to display "Currently connected to: Unidentified network No network access" and they will not let me get on the internet. It is not my router becuase It shows the same thing no matter where I try to connect. I have tried my gym and a local restaurant that I have always had success connecting to before. Furthermore my WindowsXP desktop is directly connected and is connecting to the internet without any problems. My laptops are both running AVG for antivirus.

- I am using d-Lan (PowerLan) and have had no problems with it until today.
- My router, modem and the d-lan devices are functioning properly which I have tested multiple times so I'm sure the problem lies with my computer.
- I have tried Troubleshooting with no effect
- It isn't an IP conflict
- It isn't a 3rd party program (I started it in safe mode, same problem)
- Internet still works over my W-Lan but is incredibly slow and unstable
For boxing day, I bought myself a new Computer case, a Cooler Master HAF 932. After setting it up and booting my computer, without any problems, my Internet would not work.
I attached the Network & Sharing Centre screen to show you what it says. I've tried many things, switching cables, direct input from modem (I use a router), and all sorts of guides that have similar problems.
I've installed Windows 7, is nice I must say but there is a problem I cannot access a NAS that is attached to my network.

My 15 year old son was trying to bypass Cyberpatrol and in the process of tring to change his account from an adminstrator to a standard user I've made things worse. I changed the administrator account in his name to a standard user account but there was no other administrator account on the PC other then something called CYBERPATROL_SERVICE which is an administrative account istalled automatically by Cyberpatrol. This was the first mistake. Then he guessed the password to Cyberpatrol and attemped to uninstall it...it only 'half' uninstalled it, leaving a real mess of error messages and no access to let me change anything. I can now neither reinstall cyberpatrol or unistall it, nor can I see a way to log back in as an administrator to effect any changes to put things right. Three emails to cyberpatrol have elicited no response so I'm coming to the conclusion the onlu way out is to reinstall Windows 7 and find a different web filtering program- is there any way to log back in a an administrator? I didnt delete the admin account, only changed it to a standard type. Then If I can get back in as a administrator how can I get rid of the unwanted Cyberpatrol?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop computer with Windows 7. This morning, every time I try to enter any program, I get a message which reads: Choose which program you want to open this file". This has never happened before. I tried going into Safe Mode, but the same message pops up when I attempt to open any program there as well. I tried scanning the computer with AVG, but am unable to because I get that same message. Is this some sort of virus? And what can I do to remove this message?
Also, I'm unable to go into regedit. I got a message which reads: File not found.
EDIT: I am able to access my programs in the Start menu. Now, I'm thinking that I might need to delete my shortcuts and replace them with new ones.

I am using Win 7 64bit. I am unable to get to Facebook (and Mozilla, probably many others) through IE 9, Firefox, and Chrome.
If I use Win XP, I can access Facebook from all three browsers. I have tried multiple PCc/Laptops and the same thing happens....it works in XP but not in Windows 7 x64.
If I run an XP virtual machine within the Win 7 machine, I can access Facebook. It seems to be something with Win 7 64bit (maybe 32bit as well?)
If use a web proxy like HidemyAss.com I can at least bring up the Facebook login page, though cookies become an issue.
I have followed multiple suggestions from other sites i found such as clear cache, DNS cache, resetting TCP/IP stack etc.
I've added a new laptop to my home network (now 3 computers, all of them with win 7 ultimate 64) . I didn't use home group because i don't like it, so i configured everything manually and everything worked great, file sharing. printer sharing, everything. And then I added a password to my user on the new laptop to protect it and the sharing between the laptop and the two other computers stopped working. when i try to access the laptop from another computer it reports i have no access, and when i try to access one of the computers from the laptop it asks for a user name and password.i uninstalled firewall - didn't help. reinstalled. i removed the password - problem solved. added password again - problem returns.

Recently, I lost access to many of the programs from my desktop. For example...when I try to open My Computer, or Recycle Bin, or Control Panel, I get an error panel stating....."This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program, or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." Unfortunately, I cannot access the Default Programs program either, for the same reason.
