View 1 RepliesIn the last few days my Toshiba Satellite L745-S43210 hasn't been working right. Recently it won't boot up properly. It started to boot up and then it would freeze up seconds after showing my desktop. I managed to go into safe mode and use msconfig to change start up programs and turn it to only the essential items. After that it worked and I tried turning everything back on and it worked fine last night. I assumed it was just overheating from being used so much in the last few days. Now today when I tried starting it up I was able to enter my password but the screen went black with my mouse pointer working. I turned it off and tried again a few times before going into safe mode.
I went back into msconfig again and turned it back to only essential programs and I performed a virus scan with Super Anti-Spyware and Malware Bytes and the only thing that they found were cookies. I cleared them out and booted up windows again and it worked fine. Now I am trying to select only certain programs and choose only the Microsoft, Intel and Toshiba programs/services and now when I boot it up I don't even get the the text box to enter my password, it just shows the blue windows start up screen. Right now I am using Safe Mode With Networking to type this and try messing with start up programs again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my os from windows vista 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit home premium a few days ago, and am having a horrendous time fixing the resolution problem. I can not seem to locate a driver from ati or toshiba themselves to support this upgrade, anything i do find does not install stating that the os is not supported. My resolution was much higher (do not recall the exact numbers) but now maxs at 1152x864.
here are my comp specs:

Ok, my Toshiba Satellite laptop originally had Windows Vista on it, I then downloaded Windows 7 but today i went back to Vista because some things weren't supported like my brightness settings and stuff. however. Now that I went back, my computer seems alot slower. Also it never auto connects to the internet when I turn it on. I always have to "diagnose and repair" to get it started. The worst thing is though is I had absolutely no drivers.
I have no disk for my pc so I had to go on my other pc, download the correct internet driver, install it on my laptop then manually download all the drivers i thought I needed. Well, everything is working except for the slowness of the pc still and my audio! It sounds like crap. It used to sound soooo good for a laptop. So I updated drivers but then it gave me an error and said it wont work correctly and then it disabled my audio completely. So I rolled back my driver and now it just sounds like crap again.
Its literally so much of a difference that i dont even want to listen to music or play my games because the sound was one of the reasons I got this laptop. I hardly doubt anyone can help me because you'd have to have my specific model and drivers to figure it out. Man, I just dont know what to do. I fear there is nothing I can do
EDIT: Although, now I think I'm going insane. I feel sick to my stomach whenever I mess something up. At this point, I cant tell if the sound thing is in my mind or not. I mean, it always seemed so good. When i play music, it seems good at times but at other times it doesn't. I'm pretty sure its bad though. I wish I could just send this somewhere and get it all taken care of.
EDIT AGAIN: Phew, I fixed the audio problem by switching some settings. Man am a relived. Now I just gotta work on reinstalling things But I still dont know what drivers I'm missing and also why my computer seems so slow. Also there is a 30 second gap in between the loading bar boot and the vista logo sequence. I dont remember that before but its not the biggest deal.
Man... Edit again: Just wondering if anyone would upload all the different Windows sounds in Windows 7. I liked one of the themes and want to use it in Vista but forgot to back it up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my Toshiba Satellite C655. I can turn it on and off just fine, but when I turn it on, it skips over the Toshiba loading screen. url...I need to use that screen in order to access BIOS, but it does not show up and instead shows the screen with the Windows logo and a loading bar. I have tried pressing the function keys (F1 - F12) while the Windows logo was shown, but it did nothing.Recently, I was fooling around with some of the settings and may have accidentally disabled something, but I do not know what/how I did it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to hibernate, the screen goes black, then immediately comes back to the log on screen; this is regardless of whether I go into hibernate via the start button, pushing the power button, or closing the lid. I have each of those methods set to hibernate.I actually cloned my original HDD to an SSD; the original HDD was about 10GB larger than the SSD, but nowhere full. I was not experiencing any issues with the HDD. After the clone, I am not having any functionality issues besides the inability to go into hibernate mode. What I've tried so far includes: Followed all steps in the tutorial/guide for the enable/disable hibernate. here Looked through my BIOS settings, reverted them to defaults. Performed a disk repair. Ran CCleaner.
Looked through all my power plan settings to ensure hibernate is enabled and no options say "never" for hibernate. Increased the file of hibersys.fil to 100% per the tutorial hereThe rationale for using hibernate and why this is a big deal to me is as follows. Booting take time compared to dehibernating, which is instant. Also, more importantly, I usually have at least 8 instances of word/excel/email client/PDFs/web browser open as I work on a project. I often need to power down the laptop and then continue where I left off and reopening all of those items is quite annoying. Using hibernate, I do not have to close the various documents/programs to power down. This increases my efficiency enormously. Also please note that sleeping still consumes battery power where hibernating does not consume any battery power.
I have an LG N2A2 NAS box with a wired connection into my router. I then have two laptops that are generally connected to the router wirelessly but sometimes via cable, if I am transferring a large amount of data. The main laptop is running Win 7 Pro (64 bit) and the other one is running Vista Business. Until a couple of weeks ago the NAS would show up under computers in Windows Explorer on the Win 7 laptop, and the shared folders could be accessed. At that point I connected the other laptop via cable to the router.
Since then NAS has not been showing under computers in WE on the Win 7 laptop and I haven't been able to access the shared folders. The NAS is still showing as a media device and I can log in via IE - but I cannot get at the files directly or back up to a NAS folder. I have tried entering the device name and IP address in WE but I get the error message "Windows cannot access XYZ...". I ran the troubleshooter but it didn't work. The NAS came with a NAS detector utility and sure enough this detects the NAS but when I click "Open Network Folder" nothing happens. I have tried changing the IP of the NAS but this does not make any difference.
