View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new HP 6200 small form factor that came pre-installed with Windows 7 64bit. I installed our corporate copy of MS Office Pro 2003 and then installed UPS Worldship 2011, which requires an ODBC to connect to our Access database. When I go into the ODBC to set up the connection under System DSN, it's completely blank. No Access DSN, no Excel DSN, completely blank. If I try to ADD a DSN the only options shown are SQL DSNs which I can not use.Initially, I called UPS Worldship Support. They referred me to Microsoft. After nearly 2 hrs on the phone with MS, they told me to call HP since HP preinstalled the Windows 7 and they handle anysoftware/warranty issues. So, I called HP. Their support is the pits. Nobody I talked with even knew what a DSN is (they kept telling me it was DNS not DSN and they are 2 different things!!).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wondering if anyone can help answer a problem I am experiencing with using Windows 7 own backup tool.
I have two 500GB hard drives in my system. Drive 0 is partitioned with 390 GB as the C: drive containing Windows 7 and user data, the remaining space is unallocated ready for me to install Ubuntu 9.10. Drive 1, as D:, is the full 465.8GB and is planned to store backups. Before my initial backup this drive was empty.
In the past I've used Acronis to backup, but my version is old and before purchasing the latest version I thought I would try Windows own backup as I have got the impression that it's pretty good.
However, backing up my C: to D: takes up more space than I expected it too.
C:
Size: 390GB
Used: 185GB
Free: 205GB
D: after initial backup (drive empty before then)
Size: 465.76GB
Used: 320.01GB
Free: 145.75GB
Is there something I doing wrong? or is there a reason why it is nearly twice the size? I chose the recommend option and let Windows decide what to backup, was that the wrong decision?
If it helps these are the three files/folders I see at the root of D:
MediaID.bin, WindowsImageBackup and LIANLI-QUAD (my computer name)
So a few weeks ago I was running on Vista and everything crashed completely. After a lot of thinking about it, I decided it was time to change over to Windows 7 Home Premium. But a few days after a clean and easy install, my laptop switched itself off completely, I think because my fans aren't particularly on form atm. Switching it back on I received this message[CODE]No drivers were found! Please browse to locate a driver! With no options of making a new one and no evidence of my C or E drive, I got fed up I took the disk out and gave it another switch on (in hope) and voila! It worked again! Only to switch off and take me back to square one, receiving the same errors as before.Though now, when I try to boot from the CD, I reach the loading stage of Windows 7 I occasionally also receive a blue screen which informs me of a fatal error and forces me to restart the entire thing again. The laptop itself is about 3 years old and hasn't had many problems (other than the overheating) until now. I'm not fussed about saving work/pictures/etc, I have them all on disk elsewhere. I just really want to be able to sort this out
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday, my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate finally arrived! Installation was no problem and most of the drivers are installed. However, I still miss a few.
I miss:
Name: A base system device
Developer: unknown
Location: PCI-bus 3, device 1, function 3
Name: Unknow device
Developer: unknowm
Location: on Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2815
Windows automatically installed all the other drivers.
But I cannot find any driver for the devices listed above.
Does somebody know where I can find them?
Its been about 2 week since I installed Windows 7.I love the new OS but I am still missing some drivers!!!I tried to contact Dell, and this was their answer:"You need to download the Windows 7 drivers"Like I dont know...But there are still no Windows 7 drivers on the Studio 1535 driver download page. This is the information Windows gives me:Name: A base system deviceDeveloper: unknownLocation: PCI-bus 3, device 1, function 3Name: Unknow deviceDeveloper: unknowmLocation: on Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2815I read something about Ricoh drivers or something like that, but I cannot find any solution... One of the missing drivers listed above is for the remote control (i think)Because it doesnt respond to any button I push on it

View 5 Replies View RelatedHis system have 3 partitions, 2 of which (drive D and E) are dedicated to data. About 2 months ago, he did a full reinstall of his XP system and upgrade to 7. After sometime, for whatever reason, he downgraded his system back to XP. On that system, he did some work and added 50gb+ data to the data partition.Today, he reformatted the C drive and install 7 again. The funny thing is, the 50gb+ data he added when on XP now missing. All other data is intact. In fact, the state of the 2 data partition is like when he last use 7 before downgrading to XP.just to be clear, all his data partition is intact after today's 7 install, only those data (contained on several folders) he added when on XP is missing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI screwed up today. While meaning to delete files from AppDataLocalTemp, I accidentally deleted (many) from AppData. [Sidebar: Is there any way to configure the file explorer such that deleting from the folder view is disabled?] After a brief panic, I downloaded (from another machine) the utility Recuva64 and restored the missing files to a separate drive, after which I copied them back to where they belong.
But, there was a problem - I could not copy files from the recovered folder Credentials to LocalAppDataCredentials. Even stranger, I did not have permission to view the security credentials of LocalAppDataCredentials. I tried booting to safe mode to fix this, but both folders were gone - the recovered one as well as LocalAppDataCredentials.
So, my system is up and running, but the folder LocalAppDataCredentials is missing. I tried using Recuva64 again, but it did not find the folder. I also looked in an older backup of my profile, but again, I did not see the folder. The folder does, whoever, exist on my notebook (but whose to say if the information is consistent).
I was trying to get my laptop to boot into safe mode to get rid of a file. I went to msconfig and picked Safe Boot, after I restarted my laptop, I got the message:Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have the disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.File: BootBCD Status: 0xc0000034 Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information. When I hit enter, it just restarts my laptop and brings me to the same screen. My laptop did not come with a installation disc.. The only thing I did was change a setting which I thought was going to boot me into safemode in msconfig.
I've almost given up on trying to install Windows Mail (WM) on my new Windows7 laoptop. I am really having a horrible time trying to recover/import my WM data from Vista, into Windows Live Mail (WLM). First, when I run the Import function on WLM, I can see my 20K+ emails all being imported, however, these don't seem to be displayed anywhere. What am I missing? I am most concerned with the folders and sub-folders I created in WM, because WLM has a completely different format that separates each email account. So I can't exactly understand how the emails in the folders will be distributed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed one of these recently. Tunes in all SBS channels, but NO C2, C7, C9 or C10 channels.
Anyone got an idea on what might be the problem.
I installed this on the weekend on Windows 7. "Works" fine...but it only finds the SBS channels....no Channels 2, 7, 9, 10.
THe SBS channels (incl the HD) work fine, no 'buffering', no freezing, and I was able to record a show (Rockwiz) on Sat night, but no other channels sort of bugs me....
Rescan using Windows Media Centre didnt fix issue. Also, now that I have used WMC, the actual Pinnacle rescan doesn't work at all. I get "Error" next to the USB device inside the Pinnacle Rescan window.
