I install most Windows 7 updates, but I am not ready to go to IE9.But every time I turn on my laptop I get a notification of a "new" update avaialable, that ends up being for the IE9 I keep declining.How do I stop Windows Update from notifing me on specific updates I want to decline.

3. Reboot and try to install new driver BUT Windows 7 automatically find their stock driver for 7600GT and installs it, damn it.

I did the Asus live update, soon as i hit ok, one of my usb slots stopped working but the other is working just fine. It makes the noise when you plug in something, but wont work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't remember the exact date, but before, whenever I startup my laptop, I always have the Dolby notification icon in the bottom right. But now, I don't know what I did, the notification icon never appears for Dolby. The settings for that icon is set to "Show" but whenever I click on it again, it says "This notification is currently not active" Eventhough, I'm pretty sure it's on.I tried reinstalling, but I keep getting error messages once it's reinstalled. So I have to use System Restore, and this has been driving me nuts...and this keeps going in circles.I think there is something wrong with the registry of this program.When I go to the program location, I have a Dolby Profile Selector, Dolby Profile Editor, and Dolby Profile Launcher...I am so confused now, as I always had the Notification Icon available.I can add Dolby to the Startup Folder, but when turning on the laptop, the entire Dolby profile pops up when Windows 7 boots, and that was not what happened before?

My computer doesn't acknowledge my internet network and now at the bottom right of my desktop says Windows 7 is not genuine when it is. I did a system restore several days back and the problem still persists. I just failed to use Malwarebytes even in Safe Mode + Networking because it is now corrupt, missing files, or mabservices is down. I did a virus scan with indexes last updated feb 28th and found nothing.

After all that was fixed and replaced my computer seemed to have ran fine for a few days, and it still technically is except for this problem.The problem is when I log in into windows normally it takes a while for Windows to boot up. I get a "Please wait" screen, then after a long 4 minute log in once inside windows I get the"Windows could not connect to the system event notification service", and the toolbar is grey all old school windows like.

In services the service is called System event notification, it says that the service is running fine. Even when i try to restart it, it makes no difference at all.

I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.

After installing it, whenever my laptop tries to use the Nvidia card, I get a blue screen and the system restarts. I looked in installed updates to uninstall it, and it is not there. I did a system restore to four days before I installed it, and I still get the same effect. Lastly, I installed some older nvidia drivers that used to work using the clean install option, and I still have this problem.
A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have noticed that rec task is scheduled hourly in task scheduler but cannot fine any indication that it has a notification button. I can, and do, mute the speakers for most of the day but when listening to audio/movies the sound comes through the speakers loud and clear.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI get this error message when i boot up Windows 7:Wireless Configuration: Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly.When i turn it on it goes into Windows Error Recovery mode and only gives me the options of Safe Mode or Start Windows normally.Whichever I choose looks like it's loading up but when it gets to the blue Win 7 Welcome screen the error message pops up.The only option is to click OK. When I do, nothing happens the page blinks on and off and won't go any further until I do a hard shut down.Before this happened i was trying to uninstall Windows live messenger.

In Windows Live Mail Version 2011 (15.4.3538.513), when a new mail is downloaded from the IMAP server, there is no sound or popup notification. I think that all necessary sound / notification settings are properly checked in Windows Live Mail > Mail > Options. My sound is ok. I even get a windows default sound, when some error is notified in Windows Live Mail. I have been using OE (under XP) and WinMail (under Vista), and this problem does not happen there.
