View 4 Replies View RelatedI've looked around some, but most other people's problems seemed to be that they could at least see a grayed out version of the card or locate it in the Device Manager, but absolutely nothing shows up for me. It worked fine a couple of days ago (when I was still on Vista), but after upgrading to 7, it no longer detects the SD card at all. Other topics had lots of random driver downloads, but the ones I tried did not seem to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista. Before upgrading, everything was fine. Now, I have a rather annoying sound problem. When I play anything that uses flash, the program will freeze up and have to be ended. After this point, the sound on my computer is completely gone until I restart the system. Additionally, I cannot access the volume control panel or anything that deals with the sound settings after this particular event occurs. I've been doing a little bit of research, and it sounds like the IDT sound codec is the problem. I followed the instructions on this link to a point. Fixing Flash Crashes after Windows 7 Upgrade: IDT Sound Codec Conflicts with Flash Drivers Causing Crashes |[URL] Here are the instructions that it gives: Disabling Software at Boot:
Click on the Start button, and then click 'Run...'In the Run window, type msconfig and click 'OK'.Go to the 'Startup' tab and locate the Startup Item named IDT PC Audio by IDT, Inc.Uncheck the IDT PC Audio item.Click 'Apply', and then click 'OK'.Reboot the laptop for the change to take effect.
Disabling Enhancements:Click on the Start button, then click Control Panel, and click 'Sound' from the context menu.Highlight 'Speakers / Headphones' from the list of playback devices, then click on the 'Properties' button.Go to the 'Enhancements' tab, and check the checkbox labeled 'Disable all enhancements'.Click 'Apply', and then click 'OK'.Highlight 'Independent (R.T.C.) Headphones' from the list of playback devices, then click on the 'Properties' button.Go to the 'Effects' tab, and check the checkbox labels 'Disable System Effects'.Click 'Apply', and then click 'OK'.Click 'OK'.
My problem with following these instructions is that I do not have 'Independent (R.T.C.) Headphones' in the list of playback devices. The four playback devices that I have listed are 'Digital Output Device (HDMI)', 'Speakers and Dual Headphones','Independent Dual Headphones' and 'SPDIF (Digital Out via HP Dock)'. That being the case, I cannot disable the last portion of the IDT sound codec. As a result, my problem persists. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get around this. Would it be wise to just uninstall the idt sound codec altogether? My computer is the HP Pavillion dv7-2185dx Entertainment Notebook PC?
after upgrading to win 7 32 to from vista my sound dose not eork properly. i get a sound bar but no internal audio on speakers. my headphone socket works, well it works at such a low volume that its useless even when turned up full. i have tryed everything to sort this but no joy even after talking to hp. i have tryed every driver known to man, every setting ,well you get the picture. i have a hp dv 9000 motherboard qanta 30 bd chipset intel 945pm bios f.2e

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded my os to windows 7, and noticed a significant
fps drop in all games I've installed. The problem seems to come from the sound card.
I've disabled it in device manager and I gained a steady 15-20 more in most of the applications.
Any idea what to do? Is it a driver issue or something? I got an Athlon 64x2 4600+, Asus M2N mainboard,

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family Graphics card. I want to upgrade it since I'll most likely starting my gaming business off of it. And since I am not rich, does anyone know a good graphics/video card I can buy, reasonable in price and good on my computer?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was planning on upgrading my computer. Namely, replacing the motherboard so that I could upgrade my processor, and getting a new video card. Under XP it was fine, I just had to install new drivers. But will 7 complain about licenses and such?
Would I need to 'easy in' to the change (new motherboard, check drivers, restart, new cpu, etc), or can I change everything but the hard drive? And if I was to change the hard drive could I just dd over the hard drive image?
The place I worked had an enterprise license for XP, so I never ran into any problems, and so I'm not sure how this will work.
Does anyone have a suggestion to what video card i can upgrade to with an old dell dimension 3000? i just installed windows 7 home premium 32 bit and I'm having a major resolution issues. the computer is old, so I'm looking to spend 30-40 clams.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy brother needs a video card but me being the smart one here. I got his info from dxdiag and I need a recommendation for two things , a video card and power supply. His current power supply runs at a max of 250w and it seems low, mine being 500w so its the right thing to upgrade in order to get a video card. keep video card recommendations "single slot" only since I have no idea how to hook up a video card to a power supply. Single slot ones are simple.

If anybody knows a fix for this I really would be eternally grateful
I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?
I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and all applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to Internet, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch Internet on pc
is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser)
and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade
ok I have no idea on this one and the good news is i can't fix it LOL.
i have an hp m9340f purchased a couple new nvidea graphics cards when I started getting the noisy fan issue .
Installed windows 7 everything worked great but was having problems with windows media center after I went to a 56k connection so i decided to format start over,
Everytime it installs the drivers for my nvidea graphics card my monitor goes black and has no signal. i tried both dif cards. same problem. I am guessing it is the recommended settings but since I only have one monitor I can't change the settings cause.. can't see to do it, and I have no other monitor to hook to to try.
I can start up in safe mode so any idea's how to fix this issue or change it all to 800 x 600 so i can see when it starts up with new drivers .....
I removed my emu 0404 soundcard after problems (it's known to have problems with Windows 7).
My sound (with onboard) was working before installing the Emu.

I have a sound-card and my motherboard has on-board sound. I can't find the bios setting to turn it on and I can't see any hint of it anywhere on the computer. Can someone help me get the on board sound going? My computer is homebuilt, I recently installed Windows 7 pro 64bit.
Recently ive decided that Well i should upgrade this computer. give it a bit of ..well style. But since ive upgraded to Windows 7 there has been no sound whatsoever. Ive downloaded countless driver programs which tell you what sound card you have and not one has detected it. IVE ALSO downloaded drivers for the Windows 7 version of my sound (Realtek AC97) and ran windows updates and NONE worked. ive ran the troubleshooter on the sound thing...STILL not detecting any sound card. i tried changing the audio in BIOS from auto - enabled....nothing.

i have everything installed exept my soundcard. Philips PSC703 LWHA581-U3 A581-U30 soundcard. When i try to download and install my drivers, it says The Philips PSC update installer has been detected.New PSC update files cannot be copied until this installer has been removed. Do you wish to remove the old installer? Then its two options "Yes" and "No" I have never run this driver install before, and this pc is newly formated and installed. When i click Yes, it says it has been removed, and when i restart the installer, the same note comes up.. Ive tried to restart my pc, still no success. Also, when i downloaded the installer, it didnt say it was for win7, only XP and the other versions exept vista and 7, cant i have my soundcard at this pc..?
