I recently received a watermark saying that my windows version was not genuine. (It is) Anyhow, in my scurry to remove the watermark I somehow probably changed a setting that has rendered my Min, max & close buttons useless. I am also not able to drag windows. When I open certain MMC documents, including device manager, I receive a notification stating "Unable to create new document." I have tried restoring my system to no avail. I have done so with my av & firewall down too, as well as from safe mode. I have run multiple virus scans & my system is clean!
I recently upgrade from Vista to W7 ultimate. The upgrade, itself, went fine. Once I got to moving around and learning the nuances of the OS, the screen would shake or waver, then, freeze into a reduced resolution or "fuzzy" state. The Vid card is a NVidia 8400 GS. The OS does not report it as not being compatible. I have to reboot when this happens. It can do this an any given time while moving in and out of programs.
This machine built appox. 1 year ago by a local custom builder began experiencing about 6 months ago unexplained and unexpected BSOD's seemingly unrelated to any particular computer function. Refusing to accept further BSOD's without attempting to correct, I've come here hopefully for final resolution and correction. This system was custom built with Win 7 Home Premium x64 as original software.I ran Memtest86 yesterday with both memory sticks in the two Mobo slots...1 mem stick tested well with 4 passes in each slot. Another mem stick threw 122+ errors in both memory slots early on in the test.Attempting to resolve prior to purchasing new mem sticks, thought I'd submit the BSOD issues to this forum, what seems to be required new memory.
there my minimize button and stuff are too big, I've changed to zoom thingy to 100% when I log off and log back on, It's small like a normal windows 7 has. But then If I restart It goes big again. How do I permanently make It small?
I just purchased a new Toshiba laptop that came with Windows 7....while using my Microsoft Works Word Processor, the program minimizes on its own...you can bring the document up again, but this is very disconcerting....at first I thought maybe I was hitting a combination of keys in error but it keeps happening when no incorrect keys are hit....I don't know if other programs will also minimize on their own, since I just got the computer and haven't done alot on it yet....
maximize or minimize several programs such as Google chrome , Firefox or my computer window, also can't close them using close button on top right corner rather i can close them by right click on task bar and choosing close window option.it is annoying as i can't properly use my pc, don't have any great knowledge about computer.my pc details are below.OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bitProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz, x64 Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 5Processor Count: 4RAM: 1911 MbGraphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics, 731 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 99990 MB, Free - 52525 MB; D: Total - 48801 MB, Free -0342 MB; E: Total - 105242 MB, Free - 62078 MB; G: Total - 51099 MB, Free - 32656 MBMotherboard: MSI, H55M-P33(MS-7636)Antivirus: Microsoft Security Essentials,

my brother is a coder and he got alot of work and his so bored on coding stuff. He wanted to watch movies while coding ,so he favored me to search a application to not minimize a certain application ,like internet browsers and such .If your suggesting to resize the application but the screen is so small .
figure out why when he plays games (particulary atm Diablo III and Borderlands 2) the screen will go black or minimize his game for less then a second and then come back.I have gone over 2 major things and I can not confirm they were ALL done correctly but I am pretty sure they were (hes in Texas im in Vermont)I did the followingtried having the games run in window full screen mode100% removed all his video card drivers and re installeddid a selective start up in MS config to only have Microsoft services running am running out of idea, none of these worked. He is using a HDMI cable to a TV as a monitor, im not a fan of this setup and it could be the issue but he doesnt have a monitor to swap out.
but i have my own domain and i find (mainly with hotmail) that all my emails keep going into junk folders, now ikno how to stop it from the other end, but any tips, or anything i can do to stop them going there in the first place??i have a signatures that has a small image in there, and i would imagine it would be keyword triggered, but i need to find a way to minimise or somehow stop my emails going into junk
Using Windows 7 RC1 I have noticed that fairly often when I minimize or close various windows they freeze partway through fading out. The system is still usable but those frozen windows stay on top for 5-15 seconds. The taskbar shows them as being closed yet they are faded into the background. I will try to get a screenshot later tonight but I am at work right now. All drivers installed OK automatically and the video card(s) are seen ok.
Any thoughts? It's not a deal-breaker for using RC1 but it sure is annoying. Besides, RC1 fixed the beta issue where Winamp visualizations would freeze for 5 sec between song changes, which is a huge deal to me.
I am having an issue with Battlefield 3, Counter Strike Source and other games minimizing within 5 to 10 minutes of gameplay. The game is still running but I can not maximize it. This is a nonstop issue and I have not been able to play any games for longer then 5 to 10 minutes.I recently built this desktop computer a couple of days ago. AMD 6200 6 core, MSI G70 mobo, g skill 2x 8gb memory, two MSI R6850 Cyclone OC in Crossfire mode and a tagan 1100 watt PSU.I have tried using original drivers, updated drivers, disabling windows aero, stopping start up programs, running registry cleaners, diagnostics, everything.
every ten to fifteen minutes, whether i be watching a full-screen video from Internet or playing a video game, my window gets minimized back to the desktop. i've been experiencing this problem for a few months now. i've tried searching to see if anyone else has had similar problems, but none of the solutions i've found (uninstalling avg, no screen saver) have done anything for me. i took a screenshot of the processes running in my task manage
The problem I currently have is whenever I open close minimize or maximize a program, be it google chrome or World of Warcraft or even any MS Office program it starts slowly and minimizes slowly. I've been having this problem for about 5 days now and I have no clue how it arose. I am using Windows 7 x64 home premium. I am new to computer stuff with little knowledge of the lingo and processes of how anything really works. Also I found on these forums something that seemed familiar but there was no solution. Whenever I play Starcraft 2 It becomes choppy and slow moving. The start up screen for every game I play is in slowmotion.
I would like to add that browsing the internet and playing some games is perfectly fine after the initial slow moving start up. though it still closes and minimizes slowly.Another thing I would like to add that may be the cause to the problem. Whenever I start up my computer it is super slow. it takes the windows in starting or resuming icon forever to rotate and load.also after the 5-10 minutes I have to wait for it to finally get to the User selection screen. when i do select a user, the program Curse Client ( a program for World of Warcraft addons) doesn't work and gives me this message: An error has occurred while attempting to load a Microsoft .Net configuration file. this is often and indication of a corrupted .net installation. and it goes on to say; We recommend visiting Microsoft download Center to repair your .net installation. would you like to go there now?
So i just finished doing my mac theme for my Windows 7 x64 pc. So I put my rocketdock on the bottom of my screen and set my taskbar to minimize but now whenever i go down to my rocketdock taskbar the default one pops up with it! So how do i keep it from un minimizing?
My computer at my work has Multi-screen, I've got 8 Monitor on my computer and I use them all to my work --the Primary is my desktop and the other 7 is for informations to my clients at work.
Now here is my problem,
When I'm going the mouse to taskbar over the Thumbnails (I want to right click...and Close or Maximize-minimize) all the other Windows are getting "Disappear" --Minimize
And I don't want my other monitors to get Minimize!! I only want to close-minimize-maximize the selected Window and nothing else! I don't want my clients to see an empty screen
I really like aspects of the new taskbar, especially pinning program icons to it. I always would open my main program's in the same order so they would be in the same place on taskbar, but if I had to close one and reopen... oh well. so 7 fixed that problem,If I have multiple windows open in same program (e.g. firefox), I lose the ability to minimize ALL windows controlled by that programs icon. When right clicking on icon, there should be a MINIMIZE ALL choice in addition to the CLOSE ALL. Seems like a no brainer to me.
What is the best practice to achieve the quickest resume time for notebook? Notebook should be able to run normal Windows applications. Run time from batteries 3 hours plus standby time 24 hours. Applications Garmin and several other maps. Budget is limited to stay reasonable
1. Windows 7 32, 64 Pro or contrary is Starter version the best?
2. Which suits better standby or hibernation?
Obviously SSD is the must.
How short start times one can expect? How short times you have achieved?
I will be building my new PC shortly with an SSD as main OS drive and Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit OS. I'd like to minimize as much as possible all non essential background processes that write to disk. So I was thinking:
1) Disable all event logs that write txt files to disk (if possible, how is this done?)
I have Windows 7 familly premium 64bits and running live messenger ver. 2011 ( built 15.4.3555.308) I dont want to start the progam with windows startup, so :
When i start program, the login window go minimize on the taskbar. I have to open it to select account and login. It should open directly on desktop and let me select account. I did try to change compatibily and it's doesent work.
