May 10, 2011anyone here have done the restore windows 7 to default factory??? i want to know after the reset is it required product key again for activation?

Restore To Factory Default?
Jan 25, 2012My computer has been slowly deteriorating the last few days. It first ran a system repair every time I started the computer and would then boot to the desktop, then it would just loop through the system repair screen over and over. I am thinking that my last option is to restore the computer to it's factory default since I have everything backed up on an external hard drive.

Jul 19, 2011I have an Acer Aspire 4730z laptop, upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate. Did the upgrade install, but unable to by-pass the eRecovery Management.The 3 options are 1. Restore system from factory default. 2. Restore system from user's backup and 3. Exit. Option 1 and 2 are grayed out. Have disable the D2D Recovery option in the Utility screen. But still unable to by-pass the eRecovery Management. If am unable to by-pass this, my only option is to insert my recovery disk and restore to factory default losing data store on HD.

Dec 23, 2011I have an HP dx7 laptop, which was experiencing repeated blue screens with many different error codes as well as periodically restarting seemingly at random. Occasionally it would also have the screen go black (looked like it entered sleep mode), which was unrecoverable.I tried to track down the various drivers and problems suggested by the error codes in the BSOD, but didn't have any success in preventing the blue screens/restarts. Eventually I decided to take the system recovery DVD's from HP, and reformat and reset to factory defaults. I figured at factory default settings if the system was still unstable, it'd point towards a hardware problem as opposed to drivers or other software.While performing the system recovery, it proceeds all the way to where it says "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" and gets to the step of installing drivers, at which point the system restarts. After booting up it then tells me that the installation has failed, and to reinstall. I've done this 3 times now, and get the same issue each time. I cant provide logs or dump files of the blue screens or other errors, since the HDD has been formatted as part of the system recovery.

Mar 1, 2012i have a emachines w3615 had vista os in originally changed to windows 7 os on a desktop increased my ram added a second disc drive added wireless adapter and gut a brand new 200gb hdd drive from a friend and got it working and all(lol he one im using) everything checks out no problems at all no error or anything with the configuration of the software or hardware, but its puzzling me on why i can not create my own recovery disc even when i just redone the os using a friends recovery discs of windows 7 os and i was able to use my key code on my tower, mostlikly cause theres was a emachines aswell but any help on what could be telling me that my Hard Drive is not set to factory configuration back up aborted.

Mar 29, 2012Yesterday morning I started my laptop and it was frozen at the Acer screen. After I restarted a few times I called acer tech support. Via remote access the tech support agent was able to see that, even though I have McAfee installed, my computer had trojans and a lot of files had been affected. He told me he could fix it but it would cost $200 which I can't afford right now. So I ordered the windows 7 reinstall disc and hung up. I decided to try doing a system resore back to factory settings. I began the restore and had no problems. Then when the computer went to automaticaly restart it continued to remain stuck on the acer load screen but I found that if I left it alone for about 45 minutes it would automatically restart and continue with the restore process, adding files and whatnot. My newest problem is that the restore is stuck. It started loading Office 2010 and has been doing it for 12 hours now.

Aug 23, 2011I have an Acer Aspireone D255E Netbook, with Windows 7 Starter. I decided I wanted to restore the computer to factory default, and keep my User files. It ran all the way through until it said "Setup is starting services" then it said "Windows can not install this software to this hardware." This confuses me because it was working all the time, I never updated any hardware. So it gave me an option to restart the system and I do so. Then if I do nothing, it just continues looping to the "setup is starting services" screen and then the reboot. I tried pressing F8 to run system restore again, and get it back to factory default, but system recovery is not an option anymore. I tried loading in safe mode, and it wont load. I tried other options on the F8 boot menu and it all basically said to restart. This netbook doesn't have a cd or dvd drive. I do not have any flash drives. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could restore to factory default without purchasing a new dvd, cdrom, or flash drive? Or perhaps an alternate way to load DOS so I could delete whatever step its at on the installation so it could put the "Repair windows" option so I could run the factory restore?

Feb 8, 2012I have a Dell system studio slim desktop, I used the "reinstallation DVD, windows 7 home premium 64-bit" disk to reinstall. After the reinstallation, when it automatically reboots, the screen starts up where I can press F2 or F12 for boot options but after that and windows logo, it stays on a black screen.
For a little background history, the desktop had a power supply die and I bought and added a new PSU. After that it worked until viruses on my computer forced me to reinstall windows.
