Removing Motherboard Battery Does Not Work

Mar 19, 2012

I have a toshiba satellite p300-160 and upon boot the bios password screen comes up and locks it out completley. I have search high and low on the net and so far had no luck.I have noted that removing the motherboard battery does not work on this model.I have tried to bridge the G1 connection to the ram earth for a minute but still get the password screen - The g1 connector is like a diamond shape with two points and I tried bridging both to the earth and each one seperate with no joy.Has anyone got any knowledge on this and how to remove/reset or backdoor it please?

Power Down / Take Out Battery To Let Motherboard Reload USB Drivers

May 10, 2011

so i am not intirerly sure this is the correct place to post it.Secondly, i think this is a problem that i have created myself and now i am unable to correct it.The jist of it is this. Whenever i try to active the webcam (Function + F10) a pop-up shows saying that hardware connected to a USB port is not recognized. This must be cause by the cam (which us buillt-in) is connected to the USB port on the motherboard. When i go to device manager, i can see that there is a unknown device connected, whenever the webcam is powered on.Btw it worked fine when i did the initial installation of the computer. What i have tried to do to resolve this is the following:

- Remove all drivers asociated with the webcam - reboot - reinstall from provided CD
- Power down, take out batteri (even for en entire night) to let the motherboard reload the USB drivers.
- Removed all the USB drivers and have tried reinstallling

I deleted som folders from my D: drive, (which is not the partition that has my windows directory installed) and there i might have deleted som crutial files for the webcam software to work.I have no idea on how to go on from here. This is a computer i have spend quite a long time getting up-2-date with all the programs i use for school and the exams are coming up. I would really like not having to do a clean install right now.

VGA Slot Apart Of Motherboard Won't Work

Aug 23, 2012

My PC has a blue VGA (coming from motherboard). The monitor has a matching blue VGA cable, yet I get absolutely no signal what-so-ever when I hook it in and boot it up.I could use another slot, perhaps from the GPU or the white DVI below, but I need the VGA blue slot 'enabled' so I can spare an adapter necessary for my second PC.My monitor is set on Analogue apparently, if that helps. I'm really hoping this is just settings and not a faulty motherboard issue.

Windows 7 ACPI Doesn't Detect Battery But Battery Is Working?

Aug 30, 2012

I have an ASUS K50IE laptop that i had for 2 years now. been working fine until 2 days ago.this problem has been bugging me for the last 2 days. here's why.my laptop suddenly didn't detect my battery. thought it was because my battery was dead. I searched the net on things to do before "throwing in the towel" on my battery and today i came across a blog where the instruction was to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery driver. I did just that and my battery suddenly worked! well sort of. now here's where it gets all weird.every time i open my laptop i do the following:1. plug in AC to laptop.. turn on laptop.3. unplug AC.3. laptop runs on battery.4. log on to windows.5. battery icon shows up as an empty charging icon then shows the "Battery is not detected" icon again.please take note that my laptop is still ON and WORKING. so this means (MAYBE?) that my battery is working.

Battery Won't Charge To 100%?

Jul 8, 2012

I have an acer laptop and it has been working great for the past year but now my battery won't charge to 100%. This only happened recently and my laptop is plugged in for awhile but it'll only read to 80%, 2 weeks later; 53% and now its only 28%. The thing is.. my laptop IS charged. when i unplug it, I get my usually lifespan of the battery before i have to plug it in again to recharge and it only charges to x% again. I've tried "draining" my battery and letting it charge again but it won't charge to 100%. Is there anything I can do to make my laptop read my battery correctly again.

*I should add its an Acer Aspire with a 6-cell Li-ion battery and this is the only problem I've had thus far with my laptop

Will Not Sleep On Battery

Apr 7, 2011

My husbands laptop has been having this problem now for a few weeks Win 7 32 been working fine for over a year. The red x showed up on the battery a few weeks ago saying replace battery soon. We all know this is NOT a windows 7 problem b/c MS says so I let it charge to a 100% and die on its own a few times and the x went away for a few days. Then it came back and now the computer will not sleep. Power setting on all the laptops are the same and have been the same. Low battery 10% do nothing critical 6% sleep. But when it reaches 6% it acts like it is going to sleep and then it starts again. I checked to see if there is anything new waking it but nothing shows up when I query it in cmd Also when I press the pwr button which is supposed to make it sleep nothing happens when on battery but when plugged in it sleeps.

No Battery Is Detected

Jul 5, 2011

So I just moved to a new school which uses ACER TRAVELMATE 6293 as their laptops. When they first gave it to me they put a brand new battery in it and they gave me the wrong charger, greeeat, but I went back and got the correct one. Now, the laptop DOES charge. When I turn it on, it displays the battery icon with the charging icon over it if that makes sense, however it has a red cross over it and if you hover over that it says "no battery is detected". So you have no idea how long it has left to charge and so on. BUT if you take out the charger, the laptop will not turn on (as if the battery is flat, but surely it cant be because it has charged for 24 hrs.)Usually, I would just go to the IT guys/girls at school but seeing as they keep stuffing up and it is school holidays, I am hoping you kind and smart people have a solution. I have tried to get any dust out of the charger port/hole thing. And have also taken out and re-inserted the battery twice. This is driving me a bit stupid as I have homework to do. So just to make things clear, the laptop works completely find when connected to the charger except for what I said before. Oh and this is happens when I am on either the home or school image. And it runs on windows 7 of course

Determining What UPS Battery PC Needs

Mar 11, 2012

I'm shopping for a battery backup UPS for my PC. My current pick is an APC BE550G. Unfortunately, I've hit a snag- something about "approximation of a sine wave" and "pure sine wave". In other words, if the UPS switches over on approximation and my PC requires pure, the battery backup won't work and my PC will shut off when it tries to switch from AC power to the battery. The PSU in my computer is a Lite On 300W PS-6301-08A PC is a Gateway DX4822-01 with an Intel 5300 processor. And as it will also have to run off the battery, my monitor is a Gateway HX2000. I have gone through Google searches, and could not turn up solid info. I called APC and they researched it but could not answer definite about the PSU's needs. I can not spend $50 on this UPS if it's not going to work, nor do I care to drive back to the store to return it seeing as it'll cost me about $13 in gas expenses to get to Best Buy, each trip.

New bios, detach and re-attach battery, uninstall and reinstall drivers, everything

Every 10 seconds or so, Windows will think my charger is unplugged. Then, it will proceed to switch back and fourth between plugged in and not, forcing my laptop to switch between power modes. (I'm guessing this is stress on the CPU and I do not want it to have to do that all the time)It's getting annoying having to deal with my laptop getting hot and such because of the switching power modes.
