View 2 RepliesI have installed a new larger hard drive into my computer and have reinstalled windows 7. This is the first time I have done this and did not realise that I needed to Export all my IE favourites. I simply copied the Favourites forder and all it's contents to a backup drive. Now I want to place all the Favourites back into IE. I can Import them from the folder one at a time but I have loads and it would take hours! Is there a way to get all my Favourites back into IE?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import my old Favourites folder from Mozilla into Internet Explorer 9.The bookmarks are saved in a folder on a back-up drive. In Internet Exlporer I go to: FileImportExportImport from a file Favourites Browse. When I click onto the back-up folder I have called Favourites I cannot import its contents. The Folder has subfolders in it.I cannot seem to pull all these folders and their contents into IE9.Is there way to simply copy and paste the older folders into the IE9 Favourites folder. I can't find this folder in the new IE9 file structure.

When I click into my IE8 Favorites, my HD folders are appearing there. I did some tests and if I try to delete them, my original HD files are deleted.
Maybe it happened when I tried do bring back my favorites from my backup files (ex Win XP), and I think that IE8 added all folders of my c: hard drive instead of only my favorites bookmarks.
Now, I can't even add new bookmarks.
Please my friends, is there anyway to fix that?
One of our users on Windows 7 64-bit came to us recently with an issue trying to load their desktop from the "Desktop" link in the explorer bar under favourites. The link loaded and empty folder and the search bar started to progress across the top (green bar). It didn't load. Upon browsing to c:usersusernamedesktop they could view their desktop icons fine. Weird.
This has now happened to me today but with the "Downloads" link. I created a new shortcut on my desktop to test and that worked fine. It started working again after a short while but has stopped all together. If I do the same, browse to c:usersmyusernamedownloads it doens't work either! (but it did earlier) so now I can't get into my downloads folder at all through explorer. If I use CMD I can see the contents of this folder are still there.
As I'm writing this, I've just tried to go back to c:usersmyusernamedownloads and it did load eventually.
With an open link on my desktop I then go to open a new tab and the open link appears in the new tab instead of my homepage. How do I make it so my homepage appears instead?

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, my IE has changed to MSN.com and the IE pages are not full-page. I have go to IE Tools and Internet Options to change my homepage back several times, but this has not worked. Also, I have drug the pages to the bottom of the screen but each time I open IE the pages are not full-page. View 10 Replies View RelatedThis afternoon when I got online and opened Internet Explorer to my homepage the entire layout was changed, I do not know why since i have not upgraded or downloaded anything new, I have windows 7 Professional, and use Internet Explorer 8. Does anyone know how to change the looks of IE8, I have done system restore and all the other resets that I know. The page color changed, the layout has changed and it has all sorts of things I do not wish to have on the page, even the font size seems to have changed. I run Norton 360 2012 and have good protection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently noticed the MSN homepage will override at random any other website I am viewing. This is very annoying if I happen to be filling a form out, or buying something online. I must have sent at least 5 or 6 emails to MSN but have been totally ignored so far. In fact whilst typing this it has already returned to homepage and I had to toggle back to continue writing! I am using a Dell Inspiron PC with pre-loaded windows 7 and ie9. This has only started happening in the last month or so and I haven't installed any new software to cause this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNot too good on computers .When I open an external link such as Tech Guy my tool bar and favourites are above with the Tech Guy link which is open below. When I post my external links on a public thread and open up my own thread posted ,it shows the external link yet again below my toolbar and favourites I always understood when you open an external link it opens in its own page. I have windows 7 on my laptop and desk top and both are showing the toolbar and favourites above as stated with external links. They both share a the same Reuter. I dont usually have the desktop and laptop swithched on at the same time. When I open a favourite link on my toolbar, it does not open into a separate page and yet again the toolbar stays above and the favourite link is open below. Is this normal with windows 7 or how can I ammend to have a separate page with external links.
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen I first turn on my computer, I click on my homepage icon to take me to my homepage. I only get the toolbar and I have to drag the rest of the page down. If I want to look at something else on that page, I have to pull that page down to read it. If I want to go to another site after pulling down my homepage, the other site will fully load. This started happening over a week ago.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy IE is freaking out. I use msn as my home page. The normal scrolling topics won't scroll or even show the buttons to make them scroll. When I try to go to hotmail, it tries to open the sign in page in another window but it opens to a blank page. Finally, when I tried to set up my account here it would not even show the "prove you're a human" script at the bottom. All of this works fine on FireFox.

I removed Internet Explorer 9 after having some problems with it here on this 64 bit machine. Now Firefox has upgraded to version 5 and is no longer compatible with my Dishnetwork Slingplayer. This means I can't watch my Dish programming on the road.
Anyway if I try to reload IE9 it says it can't install because a newer version is already loaded. It does not appear on the program list under "add or remove programs"!
I have the google search engine redirect virus and am crossing my fingers that a solution can be found as i posted the appropriate logs inteh appropriate forum. However, based on the results from other members with the same problem, I am not too confident. So I guess my next option is to reinstall my Windows 7 pro, but i don't have the recovery disk ( I have a pavilion dv8 Hewlett packard). So do i go to the store and buy Windows 7 and reinstall it? One of my drives is called recovery, but i don't know what is in it. there is a folder called recovery, but when I click it, it gives me a warning that my partitions will be formatted. no files.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just spent the last half day fixing a laptop, had to buy a new hard drive and reinstall the OS from recovery discs. (Win 7 64 bit, on Satellite Toshiba) I just noticed that I did not install it with a partition for the OS, Is this going to be a big problem at some point? I had checked off "Factory Settings" when installing, I just assumed that it would have installed with a partition. Before I go any further with this laptop I would like to have some input please. I just spent the last 3 hours installing updates and finally SP1.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer was blue screening, freezing, locking up, etc so I took it to a repair shop and to make sure all the hardware was ok. All the tests passed but the problems were still continuing. They eventually decided to reinstall my OS which is Windows 7 and everything's been working fine except my computer is a lot slower and frequently feels laggy where they mouse would freeze up for a few seconds or move slowly across the screen. I have already tried cleaning out my registry with CCleaner and tried defragmenting but to no avail. I was wondering if there is another way to solve my computer lag problem.
