i use a microsoft natural 4000 keyboard with programmable hot keys, if i am using a program (media player / IE / a game) and i use a hotkey to load a program (firefox / another game / email) it always opens in the background under the current window.
anyway to make the hotkey item become the main window ? O.S. is 7 ultimate 64bit
How do I stop the hotkeys from outputing #s 0-9andgetting the hotkeys to their default settings? I'm using a brand new Dell XPS L501I've looked a lot on google but no luck. For some reasons my hotkeys worked 30 min ago after they stopped working but now they don't work again.

It's really anoying...What could the problem be?I use 1920x1080 in desktop and in games for example.And if i play Heroes of Newerth and i alt-tab, IE appears in the background of Heroes of Newerth and i can still see it beeing in the background. I tried differented "fullscreen/windowed mode" stuff there, but no difference.

They are running in the background but can only be seen in task manager and do not appear on the task bar. I have had this problem with multiple different games from different publishers so I'm assuming it is an error on my end. I access my Internet via a wireless USB Modem Stick. Living in South Africa, Internet usage is sky high. I would like to know how to monitor my Internet usage. I.ow, which precise programs are running stealthily and eating up my data. I assume the website i got it off is legit as many of my friends have it installed it to play networked games. This is the website i downloaded it from [URL] Whilst it was installing my laptop froze and ctrl + alt + del wouldn't work so i turned it off by holding down the power button and then turned it back on. It now loads up a screen that says "Windows error recovery" and has an option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start windows normally" . whichever one i select the outcome is the same... a screen that says "windows is loading files..." followed by a blank login screen with only the cursor for company as shown in the image below: [URL]
I have no idea what to do and this is the first real problem i haven't been able to solve in the 2 years ive had it.
I have tried every option in the "Advanced Boot Options" (F8 on startup) menu in the hope that something different would happen but every single time is identical to the last. I am noticing that Outlook is very slow to open emails with background images which are placed into the body tag of a message. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new HP Desktop PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1. Yesterday I noticed that iTunes won't open when I double-click on the shortcut icon on my desktop. I restarted my computer, same issue. I restarted in Safe Mode, same issueI did notuninstall/reinstall because I also can't open my Spybot-SD. Same thing happens. The process is listed in Task Manager, but the programs just don't open. I have not trieduninstalling/reinstalling the programs because I tried doing a System Restore back to early February. The System Restore was successful but the problem persists. Also, Windows Media Player opens, but it opens weird, wherein it freezes on a white square for a few minutes before finally loading. Also, my DVD burning software, DVD Flick, opens but first it freezes on a yellow square.
It's hard to Google this problem because of all the programs involved, and I'm sure there are more programs that won't open that I'm just not aware of yet. I didn't do anything that I can think of that could've caused the problem (and if I had, the system restore would've fixed it). So I scanned my PC for viruses with Symantec and I also scanned for malware with Microsoft Security Essentials and both scans came up clean. Not being able to use iTunes presents a problem because I can't update my phone or make changes to my phone at all.
As I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs.A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on Task Manager, it opens on the Desktop running in the background. I can't even access the Desktop in the background, it only shows up as I'm shutting down - closing programs that I tried opening awhile ago.

I say this because I used to use launchy in my xp and my hotkey for starting that was alt+space but now I am using 7 and 7 has a better search index than xp so I dont see the point of having launchy again.

My fn button is broken so i always used 'sound volume hotkeys' program to change the volume by using the win button + up/down arrow key to change the volume on my laptop with xp. But now when i click the win + arrow button it just minimises/maximises whatever window im looking at.
In a perfect world id like to remove the windows hotkeys so i can get that program to work, so just wondering if its possible.

as I have a ntb without buttons for controlling sound volume, I have installed a program called Sound volume hotkeys - it allows to control volume with hotkeys: WIN + UP (resp. DOWN). The problem is that Win 7 has "occupied" the hotkeys, is there a way how to change it? I do not need the function by Win 7 (maximize × restore/minimize) at all.

I have an issue with my Windows / my PC. Last night I used my PC just fine and so on. But when I turned it on today and logged in I couldn't open my most used programs (StarCraft II, Windows Live & Firefox 5 - Dunno if there's more). I find it extremely ordinary, and it has never happened before..
What happens is, that I click the shortcut and nothing happens. I tried editing my exefile default to something else, but this doesn't work either. I thought to myself: Oh well, I'll just uninstall - but NO! I can't even uninstall the programs.
As of last night, my computer will no longer allow any programs to open. This includes IE and all other web browsers. There is no error message, the applications simply fail to open. The hourglass appears as if a program is starting, but then it vanishes and the program never opens.

All of the sudden on bootup there is a prolonged period where the screen is just dead. When it loads finally, it's very slow. I have Google chrome pinned to the taskbar and when I click on the icon, it pops up asking for approval if I want chrome to make changes to my hard drive. I also can't right click or type. I've tried everything I can think of, even two system restores.
