i scanned my partition for surface error and there are 4 errors, therefore i cannot move/resize, actually i can make unallocated space but i cant add it to another partition
how do i fix this error, what is this error virus?, what software do i need to fix this error does this only need defragging to fix these errors
I just tried the tool mentioned above to resize my partitions. I'm running W7x64 on a SATA drive and XP on IDE, so I can startup both depending on which disk I set as boot disk in my BIOS. So far things were running fine but ever since I tried to resize my Windows 7 partition to have more room for my storage partition (same physical drive), my Windows 7 keeps rebooting. I see the normal boot screen and after a while, the PC restarts. I tried the repair console to no avail - the assistant claims it couldn't restore anything, it doesn't even show me any restore points (which I know do exist). The actual Windows 7 partition seems OK though as I can access most folders when I boot in XP.

So I tried creating a backup.I can launch the backup wizard, select the drive I want to save the backup on, then I select "Let Windows decide" (I also tried selecting let me choose and selecting different folders, no difference), after that I get the "overview" but when I click on "Save settings and run backup". That's where the popup error appears saying "The System cannot find the file specified. (0x8007002)"Clicking OK just closes the popup and the wizard.
I ran VAIO Recovery Wizard in VAIO Rescue Tool(s) and it shows an error with error code 320.In here it says:320(When using the Recovery discs)Recovery Discs and Optical Drive(Try using F10)320(When using F10)RAM and/or HDD(See the important notes above)I ran the diagnosing program in VAIO and it tells me there's an error in the HDD. Now I'm running a further diagnosis but now what can I do?
When attempting to reset a password using a USB, after a new password is put in, it says "an error had occurred while the Wizard was attempting to change the password.
I have a yellow triangle on my laptop that says I need to troubleshoot it. When I open the devices and printers and click on troubleshoot laptop I keep getting the error message 0x80070057. It says "An error occurred while troubleshooting:"An unexpected error has occurred. The trouble shooting wizard can't continue.
I have a suspicion this isn't even remotely possible.but I'm interested in this concept, so I'd love enlightenment from the knowledgeable elite that frequent this forum.I'm interested in running multiple monitors, let's say 6, but having a second machine power 3 of them. Now with software like Synergy or Input Director, all you really get is a network-based peripheral seamless sharing effect. What I would like to do is to run a single monitor surface over multiple machines. i.e. it would be like slaving the second machine's graphics cards to power extra displays, but the data for said displays would be fed to the master machine.
I am on a large LAN that I absolutely cannot disconnect from. I am using Windows 7 Home Premum with the latest updates. I use Comodo Internet Security (AV and firewall). Here is the problem: I am being hacked from the LAN level. What can I do to lock down my OS and minimize my attack surface? My Macbook doesn't succumb to this, but my fully updated Windows 7 PC gets hacked relatively easily from other users on the same LAN. I am experiencing remote code execution (IE9), unattended installs and system wide changes. What can I do to minimize my attack surface?
I was unable to go on the internet for some reason. So i tired to use a trouble shooter. Then at one point it says "an unexpected error has occurred. The trouble shooting wizard can't continue"

I have my HP Laptop which came with Windows Vista as the OS. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 so I bought Windows 7 from my local store.I entered the disc and did boot from CD. It reached to the page where it shows the disk partition. I deleted the partitions and created new one. However, whenever I create the partition, it creates a primary one and gives me error saying Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition.
Please see the attached file when i tray to add hardware wizard as below link to add TAP VPN device as what tech tolled me there.but i get this problem in windows 7 test purposed 7000.
I'm having trouble with the importing pictures wizard which I tend to use for simplicity and ease of use.
In XP, I used to be able to select which pictures I wanted to import from my camera card but now I cannot find how to do so and so I need to download all of them together meaning that I may need to run the wizard several times if I have different subjects on the one card and then go back to delete the photos wrongly named.
Second issue is that it will not close without forcing a closure from Taks Manager.
One of our Microsoft Student Partner assignments was to create a video highlighting some of the features of Windows 7. I chose to do mine on using the Program Compatibility Wizard. I am not much of a video maker, but it explains the process pretty well.Other Windows 7 tips and tricks.
I have an Acer X1300 and I have been trying to install 7 using the Acer Upgrade Wizard sent to me in the "upgrade kit" I received. My current OS is Vista Home Premium 64.
I can only get as far as the screen that asks for my model and it will only allow me to select from the notebook list and I can not go to the desktop list, so I can go no further with the install.
I contacted Acer support and was told to do a clean install. I have been using this computer for a couple of months now and it has all of my apps and files on it (new and the ones I transferred from my old XP machine). Also it is working great.
I think that a clean install is a pretty drastic step for what appears to me to be a failure in the Acer software (Acer Upgrade Wizard).
Would it be possible to install directly from the windows 7 disc without running the upgrade wizard?
Anyone know how I can customize the default location where the wizard chooses to import photo's to? Specifically, I want to have the wizard import to a network drive.
I set up my folders to share over SMB, but it appears I didn't set up all of them to share with everyone.I'm trying to re share them but I can't seem to get to the same wizard. When i right click on a folder it gives me the option to 'Share With ...' rather than just 'Share ...' If i click 'Share with ...' it takes me into the Folder Properties window and selects the sharing tab. it doesn't bring up the normal windows share wizard. Any ideas how I get back to the normal windows 7 share wizard?
I got new laptop few days before. yesterday i was making 2 more partition. my C drive in which windows 7 has been installed had 500GB of space. so by using external application, i had decreased its size to 300GB. but from that time, some files has been corrupted. I cannot access that files now.. not even C drive.. I dont have recovery disc.
I had fedora12 dual booted on my laptop, I needed to erase the partition and re install Linux, so I deleted the partition data, but when I tried to delete the partition itself. An error popped up saying it cannot be deleted not enough memory
I have Windows 7 64 bit installed on my computer but needed to install a program only compatible with 32 bit, so decided to create a new 3GB partition using the in-built feature in Windows 7 and install Windows XP on it.
I booted up XP, formatted the partition again,a nd let it run through the set up, but as soon as it had copied the files and rebooted, I got the error message 'error loading operating system'.
I really don't know how to fix this - I'm not bothered about installing XP, I can do without it, but the main thing is getting back onto Windows 7 as I have all my files there. I didn't bother making a back up as I thought any problems that could occur would be limited to the partition that I installed Win XP on.
I tried the 'start up repair' utility on the Windows 7 boot disk, and although that said it had repaired a problem, I still get the same error. Although one strange thing I've noticed is that it says that Windows 7 is located on '(E: ) Local Disk' when it was definitely installed on the D: drive - E: was the new partition of size 3GB with Win XP installed, but according to this it is 400GB + with Windows 7.
Im using windows 7 OS, I have 2 different Hard Disk 1 is for OS 40 gig and 2nd 80gig is for my files, problem is the second HDD have a partition of 11gig and 69gig, i use it previously for my XP OS.. now im trying to re size my partion in 2nd hdd im trying to make 11gig into like 25gig up.. and this is what ive done.. i partition my 69gig to 20-49 and i try to delete 30gig so that i can merge 11 gig and 20 gig..when i delete the 20gig it become free space. and when i try to merge 11 and 20gig i cant their is no function of extend in 11gig partition, and then when i try to make new simple volume in that 20gig i deleted it shows an error of "Their is not enough space on the disk to perform this operation"..
i tried to change the partition of my laptop but while in the process, i got an error. when i tried to reboot it, it already says disk error. so i tried to reinstall windows but after the "press any key to boot from cd" msg, i only get a blank screen. now i cant reformat my hard disk and cant reinstall any os on it. i even tried hiren's boot cd but i always get a blank screen after booting from it.
i cant also start the laptop on safe mode or even the last known good configuration. when i tried the safe mode, it says about the partition error (long lines of error like "partition (0)disk...system..." something. i am most certain that the cause was the erroneous or interrupted partitioning.
I have just ugraded most parts of my PC including going from 2gb of ram to 8gb. As I am currently running windows 7 home premium 32bit I believe my pc will only be reading 4gb of this ram.
I have downloaded a 64 bit installation iso file & burnt to disk, upon reinstalling I was planning on re-using my current windows product key.
Once past the custom installation option I recieve an error message along the lines of "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."
I belive my Hard drive has 2 partions, 1 main area for saving files & program files. It also has a factory image drive. This is the first time I have built a PC, Is frustrating to have go this far on my own and get seemingly stuck on what is hopefully the last hurdle
