I have an Acer X1300 and I have been trying to install 7 using the Acer Upgrade Wizard sent to me in the "upgrade kit" I received. My current OS is Vista Home Premium 64.
I can only get as far as the screen that asks for my model and it will only allow me to select from the notebook list and I can not go to the desktop list, so I can go no further with the install.
I contacted Acer support and was told to do a clean install. I have been using this computer for a couple of months now and it has all of my apps and files on it (new and the ones I transferred from my old XP machine). Also it is working great.
I think that a clean install is a pretty drastic step for what appears to me to be a failure in the Acer software (Acer Upgrade Wizard).
Would it be possible to install directly from the windows 7 disc without running the upgrade wizard?
So I had just upgraded my laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505) to Windows 7 and was using the Windows Update to get all the drivers for my hardware. All of them worked except the ATI Mobility Radeon x1300, and when i try to download/install it, it just comes up with unknown error code 80200053. Now my computer is stuck with low resolution and using a generic PnP standard VGA Graphics Adapter driver and I can't find a way to get my video card to work. Any way to install the driver? I tried downloading the driver online, but those versions are not compatible with Windows 7?
I am an absolute dumb wit concerning computers and stuff. I just bought myself an Acer 5332 which runs Vista. Should I upgrade to Windows 7? It seems all the rage at the moment.
I have an Acer 5315 and I want to upgrade from the Vista Home to Win 7 using an upgrade verison of Win7. SHould I have any problems or will Win7 install basic drivers for everything?
i just upgraded and have a few issues. altogether windows 7 is fine but in devices and printers ive got CRD-PC with an exclamation Mark under devices and A310 under unspecified. i have installed all the drivers from the acer website. then i also have some usage related issue, i know probably the wrong forum but i dont know where to put them plus dont wanna make a 2nd thread.
whenever i restart, i have to reselect VLC as default program to open avi's, it defaults to winamp. happens with all media files, but strangely not with nfo's (havnt tried any other files yet that i set to non default manually).
also, my toolbars disappear after evry restart. which is annoying cause i always move it so i have an XP style quickstart panel.
I own an Acer Aspire 7720g and according to acer my laptop is not eligible for an upgrade to windows 7: Windows® 7 Upgrade Offer . So, can i upgrade to windows 7? Has anybody tried it?
This is my noob experience of the £699 4 months ago 17.3" multi spec't acer aspire model 7535g
ATI mobilty 4570 radeon twin graphcs job
£12.78 buys two discs to get me from vista 32 home premium to windows 7 home premium 32bit
1 upgrade disc and 1 windows 7 media disc
I decide to go with a clean install so i changed boot sequence in bios to cd first, then booted from the windows 7 media disc.
option 2 custom install i managed to delete partitions which made my restore discs effectivley scrap.
realizing there was no way back, i had to instal windows 7
all went silky smooth untill the device radeon 4000 series had code 10 cannot start
i let windows 7 update this device - rebooted...the screen never came back...the machine was ON,signal up and everything but no raster, just a mouse curser.
hmm... rebooted in safe mode, rolled back driver....screen ok but still the graphics 4570 is code 10 and cannot start.
so i inserted the acer upgrade dvd
and ran all EXCEPT the amd puma driver
rebooted
all ok
then i ran the puma driver, rebooted and the screen never came on...backlighting but no picture.
Holding down the power button i just turned it off, rebooted, pressed f7 or 8 whatever key for safe mode and chose
my brother has got an acer dvd installation upgrade because he bought an acer aspire 5563 or something after july 26th.. so he got a free upgrade to windowss 7 and hes installing it on his comouter as im speaking. i have a dell dimension e521- i know that i can use the DVD again- but my question is- will the Acer DVD work on my computer?
i have used 7loader by hazar and orbit32 to only change my oem logo on my system so its acer, and the name of the oem is now acer- but will the actually DVD detect that its a dell and would not allow me to install, or let me install and when i enter my users desktop for the first time it will not let me do things because it is a dell- making my computer be unaccessible and all my work and coursework i can not be accessed- so will the acer dvd work?- meaning that i can continue my work on the best OS ever, and the whole operation will work fine, valid, and smooth without any problems?
I own a acer aspire laptop 5100 series which came with Vista pre installed on it.My ex boyfired decided to install Windows 7 Professional on my laptop earlier this year and now I can't seem to get skype working properly like it use to before Win 7. Nobody can hear me and I've configured the the microphone and speakers to how they should be set in order for skype to work but no one can hear although I can hear every one just fine. I have the latest version on skype installed. I was wondering if the issue is because I have windows 7 on here instead of what it originally came with?
Please see the attached file when i tray to add hardware wizard as below link to add TAP VPN device as what tech tolled me there.but i get this problem in windows 7 test purposed 7000.
I'm having trouble with the importing pictures wizard which I tend to use for simplicity and ease of use.
In XP, I used to be able to select which pictures I wanted to import from my camera card but now I cannot find how to do so and so I need to download all of them together meaning that I may need to run the wizard several times if I have different subjects on the one card and then go back to delete the photos wrongly named.
Second issue is that it will not close without forcing a closure from Taks Manager.
One of our Microsoft Student Partner assignments was to create a video highlighting some of the features of Windows 7. I chose to do mine on using the Program Compatibility Wizard. I am not much of a video maker, but it explains the process pretty well.Other Windows 7 tips and tricks.
Anyone know how I can customize the default location where the wizard chooses to import photo's to? Specifically, I want to have the wizard import to a network drive.
I set up my folders to share over SMB, but it appears I didn't set up all of them to share with everyone.I'm trying to re share them but I can't seem to get to the same wizard. When i right click on a folder it gives me the option to 'Share With ...' rather than just 'Share ...' If i click 'Share with ...' it takes me into the Folder Properties window and selects the sharing tab. it doesn't bring up the normal windows share wizard. Any ideas how I get back to the normal windows 7 share wizard?
This problem started a week ago, when the Acer Aspire One 532h would not boot. Eventually, even restoring it using the partition failed. I have ordered the Acer recovery discs which will restore it to Win 7 starter. But yesterday, just on a whim, I turned on the netbook and was able to restore it successfully. I then installed Webroot SecureAnywhere Essentials and have run numerous scans that found no threat - so this does not appear to be malware. (The unit had avast! free AV before this trouble started.) I then spent hours installing Win 7 updates using the Windows Update utility on the Acer. However, near the end of the Win updates, Windows crashed and the screen went black again. When this happens, the unit's power stays on; this is not a fan/overheating problem, I don't think.
This a.m., the Acer booted successfully, and I then uninstalled Office and installed Open Office. The unit then "blacked out" again. During this time, I also tried to install Java, since I had been getting a pop-up that it needed to be updated. Java would not install successfully, and the Acer then started "blacking out" several more times. I was finally able to boot it in Safe Mode to turn it off. But it took several attempts.
Rather than running the recovery discs from Acer for Windows 7 Starter, I am considering upgrading to Win 7. Can anyone tell me if this might solve this problem? Or should I just proceed to order an external drive to run the recovery discs?
So I tried creating a backup.I can launch the backup wizard, select the drive I want to save the backup on, then I select "Let Windows decide" (I also tried selecting let me choose and selecting different folders, no difference), after that I get the "overview" but when I click on "Save settings and run backup". That's where the popup error appears saying "The System cannot find the file specified. (0x8007002)"Clicking OK just closes the popup and the wizard.
I just tried the tool mentioned above to resize my partitions. I'm running W7x64 on a SATA drive and XP on IDE, so I can startup both depending on which disk I set as boot disk in my BIOS. So far things were running fine but ever since I tried to resize my Windows 7 partition to have more room for my storage partition (same physical drive), my Windows 7 keeps rebooting. I see the normal boot screen and after a while, the PC restarts. I tried the repair console to no avail - the assistant claims it couldn't restore anything, it doesn't even show me any restore points (which I know do exist). The actual Windows 7 partition seems OK though as I can access most folders when I boot in XP.
I am having trouble with creating shortcuts on my desktop by using the Create Shortcut Wizard (i.e. Right-click on Desktop or folder and selecting New->Shortcut). The wizard pops-up and I follow the steps on screen to create a shortcut. However, if I am making a shortcut to IE by locating the file in C:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplorer.exe, my shortcut appears hidden on the Desktop or the folder I have created it in.
If I am making any other shortcut (such as Adobe Reader for example), I have no problem and, I can see the newly created shortcut (i.e. it is not hidden). To see my iexplorer.exe shortcut, I have to show all hidden files first in the Folder menu, in Windows ExplorerView. Even disabling the "Hide protected operating system files" does not work. Only the show all hidden files option works. I believe this might have been an effect left over by a virus/Trojan.
I had recently (in May 2011) removed several viruses from my computer, using the McAffee AntiVirus Plus software. I have also run MalwareBytes to be sure I have no Trojans on my PC, and I didn't. In addition, I have run some of the Microsoft Fix It applications to fix my IE security problems and remove broken shortcuts. I have also searched in Google and Bing for this kind of problem but it appears that I am the only one having it. I know most malware could do that to a PC and then the user has to manually set visible the files/folders such as Favorites, Desktop, etc.
I have a user who has been upgraded from XP to 7 via a new machine. She use to use Microsoft Scanner and camera wizard when she plugged in her iphone. This enabled her to select which pictures she could copy to the machine via a simple tick box. Is this option available in windows 7 ?
i scanned my partition for surface error and there are 4 errors, therefore i cannot move/resize, actually i can make unallocated space but i cant add it to another partition
how do i fix this error, what is this error virus?, what software do i need to fix this error does this only need defragging to fix these errors
I have just installed office 2000 on a computer with windows 7. However, everytime I try to use outlook it begins with a startup wizard. Any idea how I can prevent this?
