View 1 RepliesStarting today my computer has been randomly turning itself off, although running lights are still on, and the computer sounds as if it is still running normally.Essentially what happens is that it crashes out, the monitor says input signal lost and then nothing happens. First two times it crashed whilst using Photoshop. Third time I installed a program to monitor the HDD temp. It was running just over 40c when it crashed again (had a low end game running to see if the HDD temp would rise). I waited 30 min before turning the computer on each time.Opened the case to check for any build up of dust, it seemed fine.I have also checked that all the cables are plugged in correctly. Also definitely something wrong, because holding down the power button didn't turn it off. Had to turn the computer off by the switch at the back of the computer.Only thing new with the comp today was updating Microsoft.Net framework, a few hours before the first time it crashed.

It shows up on my desktop, but not my laptop.

Well, I took the hard drive from my new computer and installed it in an external drive case and cloned to this drive using Acronis clone tool. Then I installed the cloned drive back in my new computer. Now no signal whatsoever to the monitor. My monitor is good as I tried my old computer with it and it works fine. I hope I haven't done major to my new computer
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just built a new gaming rig with 8gigs of RAM. I made the mistake of installing WinXP Pro x32 on it. I find out that 32 bit OS's can't access 8 gigs of RAM, so I went and bought an OEM Win7 64 bit disk. Come to find out now, Win7 x64 doesn't play well with many HDTV's. Something about they changed the instruction in Win7 to not allow for overriding something called the EDID signal from the HDTV. So now I'm screwed again. Now I got 8gigs of RAM but no video. Great. What now?
I need to go and buy a third OS that will work this time? WinXP Pro x64? Yeah, it's not the video card, the video card drivers, or the TV. It all worked just fine with WinXP Pro x32 installed. And all the cables are plugged in tightly. Win7 x64 will output video signal to a generic VGA monitor. If I set the resolution to like 1024 x 768 or something then swap the VGA cable from the VGA monitor to the HDTV I get video signal. As soon as I reboot, no video signal. I get video for the post screen and the Win7 startup screen.
As soon as it trys to boot into the desktop, no video signal. My AKAI TV only says "Not Support". Win7 will not get past the HDTV EDID handshake. Win7 sucks. Now I find myself looking at the Windows web site HDTV "compatibility list" for Win7. Like trying to work my life around bill gates and his crappy software. Serving Windows instead of it serving me. When will those people ever get it right again after WinXP? Any workaround that will make Win7 override the HDTV EDID handshake?
I need to copy VHS tape to DVD. LogiLink USB2.0 Video Grabber and are using Ulead video Studio and it says: "No video signal".
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just finished up installing new RAM, a new CPU Cooler, and a new GPU Cooler... My computer booted right up no issues, until it lost video signal right after I saw my password screen. My computer was still on, and (to the touch) nothing was overheating... So I rebooted, same issue..
I then booted in Safe Mode, which booted right up. I backed up all my files and whatnot onto a secondary HDD and proceeded to reinstall Windows 7, thinking that would fix the issue, and I was sadly wrong.
I then booted back into Safe Mode, in which my computer ran fine, reinstalled all the drivers, and proceeded to restart my comp. The same thing happened, lost video signal right when my password screen showed up.
I am all out of options here, honestly. I thought it was because I normally use two monitors but only boot on one now, but that wasn't it. removed the new RAM and that didn't work, thought my comp was trying to run off an On-board card, but that wasn't it(computer only recognizing my GTX 550).
For almost 3 months now I have had an issue of when I choose to reboot my pc it will lose video signal and the only way to reboot my pc is to shutdown and power it back on for the video to pop on as it should it started with my ATI 5970 but since then I have upgraded to a ATI 6990 but it has the same issue. What would cause my video to lose signal on a normal reboot so I don't have to shut down when a reboot is needed? Major changes before this started was I went from a 750w psu to a 1000w psu.

I have been trying for 2 and half days to figure out why my speed is slow, why i don't have a good signal, and/ or if I do have a bit of a signal to my luck, why my signal comes and goes. I don't have internet at home at the moment because I am trying to save up to go to school. I am picking up a public business signal from a block away (which I have asked for permission to use), but I only am receiving not much of a signal with the Netgear usb wireless adapter.

Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again. At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found. One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard. So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then. But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]

Intel quad core i5 3450 3.1 GHz socket 1155 Ivy Bridge
mobo AsRock H77 PRO4/MVP
psu XFX Pro 550W
8gb ram Corsair Vengeance LP
HD WesternDigital Caviar Blue 500gb
Samsung DVD
win 7 64 bit
Monitor: Dell U2412M 24'' 16:10 1920x1200px
I attached the monitor via dvi cable and I'm using the integrated graphic card (Intel HD2500) My problem: yesterday the power went out (without problems for me, because I've got an UPS) but after this, when I turn on the pc, after booting (after windows 7 logo ) I got the message ''enter power save mode" on my screen and then it entered in sleepmode because there isn't signal
If I attach the vga (analogic) cable, there is signal and the pc works fine ...there is signal also with dvi cable in safe mode (F8)
I tried to boot another pc (with windows XP) to my screen with the DVI cable and it worked perfectly ...so I do not think it's a problem of DVI cable or a problem of the monitor
But If I attach a dedicated video card (I have a Radeon HD 5450) and if I leave the DVI cable attached to dvi output of the integrated video card (Intel HD2500) now there is signal after booting, but there is no signal during booting (till windows logo) ...the opposite!!
ps I installed the latest drivers of Intel HD2500 (version 8.15.10.2696)
pps if I use DVI cable with the dedicated video card (HD 5450) there aren't problems, so I think I'll use this card (or another dedicated vga) ...but I want to understand what's the problem with integrated video card
Alright so it worked when I left to go pay a bill. Come back and it has no signal. I tried the PC on my TV to see if it worked and it does no problem, so I know the PC is not at fault. Tried a DVI cable and a VGA. Tried restarting and powering off everything.

Also, when I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI (Also on Windows 7), It is instantly recognised and automatically displays, so it has to be an issue with the PC itself.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my AMD catalyst software to 12.4 on my HTPC. Been noticing that when I am viewing via my Sharp 19"LED TV I get signal cut out after about 20 minutes. I notice this when my screen save comes on in WMC. It eventually craps out and I get "no signal" messages on my screen. It comes back if I simply click on the mouse. This never used to happen before. I could leave the HTPC on over night and simply turn the TV monitor off. When I would turn the monitor on in the morning, the Desktop would be visible. Are there new settings in 12.4 that could be causing signal cut out (i.e. like an energy saver option)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing a very disturbing issue with my newly installed ATI 4870 and my Windows 7 RC (7100). Prior to installing this card I had the following setup, which worked flawlessly.
nvidia 8800gt
intel p35 chipset in the motherboard
Samsung a656 40" LCD connected via a DVI to vga connector.
When I got my 4870, I uninstalled the nvidia drivers, rebooted, installed the latest (9.5) ati drivers and rebooted.
Then, I got a no signal in the monitor at the windows login screen.
Mind you, that when I (dual) boot in Vista, using the 9.4 drivers, everything is fine.
Things that I tried:
1. Creating a new monitor.inf file (located at the windows folder) using info from a post in this forum.- This should not make a difference, since I was using the same monitor.inf file in the same windows 7 installation, whitout any issues before I installed the 4870.
2. Changing the ATI .inf file to include only one resolution for the r7x cards 19 20 10 80 00 00 00 60- I think it sould be a refresh rate issue, since the vga port of the TV supports many resolutions, including 1600x1200 etc.
- It could also be an unsupported resolution, if the ATi driver cannot detect the monitor correctly.
3. Installing the windows 7 default ATI driver.
Things that I noticed:
1. I can login only in safe mode.
2. Low res mode (640x480) gets me to the login in screen, but as soon as I input my passowrd, I get no signal.
3. Changing DVI ports in the 4870 (it has 2)
Does anyone have any ideas?

In that distance everything works fine.
But if I go farther or to another room it disconnects.
With other laptops all works fine even on very large distance.
I tried such things (nothing helped):
* uninstall, reinstall or update drivers
* install newest drivers from Acer site
* install newest drivers from Intel site
* tested with xp & vista drivers
* on network connection properties unchecked all things except tcp/ip v4 protocol (microsoft networking, sharing, link layer topology,QoS, TCP/IP v6 ..)
* disabled homegroup
* on adapter properties changed signal frequencies (1,6,11),
* on adapter properties changed standard type to work with: 802.11 b or g
* on adapter properties changed signal to MAX, don't use power saving
* disabled Internet security, firewall
* Changed access point signal broadcasting with no encryption or wpa
* it disconnects from another access point the same way (problem with system not wifi AP)
