Mar 21, 2011I'm upgrading from Vista Home Premium (64-bit) to Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) and I think it is almost done (the last step I remember was the last one on the list). However, when it restarted, the screen is now changing from red to bright green, to blue, to gray, darker gray, gradient white/gray, black, and repeat. Is it supposed to do this? It seems like the hard drive is still active as the indicator light flickers, but I haven't seen any tutorial that mentions this happening. It kind of looks like the colors are being tested or something but it's been going on for maybe 20 minutes now?

I mean that what should appear as white didn't appear white, instead it appeared creamy (i.e. according to RGB scheme, the red content in the display was more than what is required.)To fix this, I did thisRight Click Desktop > Personalize > Display > Calibrate Color and then adjusted the red and green bars to make the color settings proper. Now, the display is as I want it to be.The problem is that when the PC reboots or when an UAC window pops up, the settings are lost and again my display becomes 'warm'/creamy. Feb 24, 2011I was not able to edit my photos and was sent a link to look at my authorization level of my user. I have one user ADMIN and it seemed to be authorized in doing everything.
Anyway I chose a file folder with recent photo clicked on properties and then went to advance ....anyway don't remember what I clicked the file disappeared and I have not been able to retrieve it. I retrieved some of the photos by going to recent activity and that was a folder with in the folder that is now MIA.
Is if possible these photos are archived?? I just have no clue why the folder with these photos disappeared and more importantly why I can't find them on my C drive anywhere. I am using a Sony Vaio all in one.

Aug 18, 2012I lost my main user account, after rebooting machine, I did change a setting while in lusrmgr...[netplwiz]. now the lost account shows the name but no full name and/or description in snapin. I am left with just a guest account in Homegroup Users.

Nvidia Color Control Versus Windows Color Control Settings?
Oct 12, 2010I am trying to set my monitor's screen give accurate renditions of my pictures. I use Quick Gamma to set gamma. When doing this I can use either Nvidia's controls or windows controls (right click desktop>Nvidia Control Panel. When using Nvidia's Control Panel, there are two choices: Use other applications control color settings or Use Nvidia settings. Am I correct in assuming that the former setting is Windows? I always check the button to use Nvidia settings (and then Apply>OK), but when I go back to this screen at a later time, the Other applications control color settings is always selected. I'd like to default to Nvidia.

Jul 8, 2012This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
Lost HP Touch-smart LOGO Since Lost Re-setted BIOS
Jul 15, 2012I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again.At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found.One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard.So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then.But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and when I plugged the printer cable into the computer it started to download drivers, etc... After it was all set, I went to print. It goes into the print Que and just sits...almost like it is not being pushed to the printer. I uninstalled & reinstalled...also tried to run compatibility mode but to no avail.
