Shortcut Keys To Context Menu On Command Window Lost In Windows 7?
Apr 2, 2012In windows XP, I used to be able use "ALT + E + S" to programmatically grab the contents of a command window. This does not work in Windows 7. When you right click on the title, the "Edit" selection no longer has the "E" underlined, indicating the shortcut key to use.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn these back on?

Jan 8, 2012Vista created a subdirectory named Buford, and stored data from certain programs (e.g., Garmin MapSource waypoints/track files) in that sub directory. I cannot find this subdirectory in W7.

Dec 16, 2009I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 with no problem. A pop up did mention that I would not be able to use windows mail but did advise my setting and files would still be able to be used. I now have Outlook running but can find no way forward to find all my previous emails.

Aug 26, 2009recently went from the pre installed vista on my HP dv6920ea laptop to 7enterprise.
When i put in a cd or usb key there is no autorun box that appears now.
Also ive lost the pre installed cd / dvd burning / copying program. Where might i find that again?

Jan 23, 2012I purchased an HP laptop running Vista just when Windows 7 was coming out. It included a coupon to upgrade to Windows 7. I ordered the upgrade disks.I finally ran the upgrade to Windows 7 including performing the suggested backup of all my files on a separate hard drive. The instructions indicated that I would be saving my email and contacts that was a part of Windows Mail. Now that I am running Win 7, I don't have access to Windows Mail and I don't know where my email files might reside.What can I do now to gain access to my old emails and contracts?

Nov 18, 2009I just upgraded a 32 bit windows vista Sony Vaio to 64 bit windows 7, but all the shortcuts and original programs (accessories, dvd writers, etc.) installed by Sony are gone. Would like to know how to get these programs back. I had try to use the disc that came with the computer but it actually wipe out windows 7 and reinstall windows vista back onto the computer.

i already had xp32 and vista 64 business on a dual boot on the same HDD before installing windows 7.
during windows 7 install, I selected the xp32 partition, formatted it and installed windows 7 over the top as I no longer wanted xp32.
When the windows 7 install was complete I expected to see a dual boot screen with
option 1. windows 7
and option 2. vista64
unfortunatelty i have no dual boot options, the pc now just goes straight into windows 7. It doesnt sem to know that vista is there.
i would appreciate assistance in getting a dual boot set up with vista64 and windows 7

Jul 15, 2012I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again.At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found.One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard.So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then.But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]

All goes fine until the "Vista will boot for the first time" step. After this first boot, the screen returns to the "completing installation" page. However, the process dies here and the progress bar across the bottom of the screen never moves, even after an hour. Reformatted the partition and started over with same results. Mar 23, 2012I have a legitimate copy of Windows Vista with key codes etc and I have a legitimate upgrade disk for Windows 7. I had Windows 7 installed on a previous system build which had a HD crash and now I am starting again from scratch (wiyh backed up data).
Like a dolt, I installed Wondows 7 before I remembered it was an upgrade edition. I've looked all over the MS site and don't see a method I can use to Activate Windows 7 from this point. way to use my legitimate Windows disks and keys without having to wipe the drive, install Vista and then install Windows 7 yet again.
It's aggravating to have legitimate software and not be able to use it without needing to trick the system - surely there is a way to not have to start all over?

Jul 22, 2011Ok So I got myself into a unique bind here. I was trying to install some custom system files (for a theme) and I did it wrong and now I cant open explorer.exe . I dont want to goto a backup because this is a easy fix. (in my view). So I need to know how to run command prompt with administrative privleges from command prompt.
I am trying to do this command: copy explorer.exe C:Windows
So if there is also another command I can just tack onto that that gives me admin rights to do it. I would be happy.

Since Beta, I've been getting an error message "Not enough storage is available to process this command", which is accompanied by a stop code 0xc142 when launching items like Task Manager. I've seen the first error is typically related to the Windows Desktop Heap, but I've set from the original (2GB if I'm reading it correctly), to 4GB of space. I'm running a system with 1.7TB of available drive space (20GB on the OS drive as it's a smaller SSD drive) and 6GB of RAM. I've tried varying the windows page file from 500MB to the system-controlled 6GB with the same result.
