Install Crashing (No BSOD)

Make sure you click 'Format' on the partition you want to install Windows 7 to, don't just create the new partition and press 'Go' I have a Core i7 920, Gigabyte EX58-UD3R, Radeon HD 4870 512MB, 3GB DDR3 G.Skill 1333 RAM (exact specs can be seen in profile) and I'm having issues trying to install Windwos 7.

I backed up all my stuff from XP onto my external, got ready to reformat like normal tossed the Windows 7 x64 Professional disc into the drive and booted from CD. Everything worked like normal, Windows 7 is a bit different in that it doesn't run in a BIOS-type setting like XP but rather has its own little graphical install interface. Figured out what I wanted (custom install, "deleted" the old partition), and pressed go. I thought it was weird that it didnt "format" the hard drive like XP installation does, I know I can get a boot disc with 'Book and Nuke' to wipe the hard drive which I may do, but I figured since Windows 7 didn't want to format that it wasn't entirely necessary. Goes through the expanding files fine, whatever else it does on the first isntall screen, and then it gets to the restart phase.

Restart goes well, automatically shuts down and boots back up, getting to the screen that says 'Starting Windows...' and then crashes. Monitor gets the 'No Signal' message, computer stays shut off for a few seconds and then powers back up. It gives me the 'Windows crashed and recovered from an error' selection where I can choose how I want to boot (Safe Mode, Last Good Configuration, etc.) and I've tried the 'Boot like Normal' configuration and it will just continue this cycle.

The first time I tried installing Windows 7 it got past this screen, got to the portion of the installation where it automatically adjusts the resolution, and then after that it crashed. Since then I have not been able to get past the first reboot without a constant restart loop.

I tried 32-bit with the exact same results.

I have disabled all but 1 core and disabled hyperthreading (this was required to install XP beacuse I don't have a SP2 disc) to see if it worked but the same thing happened. Reset BIOS to factory defaults, same thing. Changed back to 1 core, no hyperthreading and same thing happened again. I have no extra video cards I can try but I could ask my brother if I can borrow his 23" widescreen HANNS-G monitor but unless I'm mistaken I don't think this is an issue that a monitor would fix.

I'm not the most computer-savvy person but I can work my way around. I don't know if there is a log file I can access and post here to see what the last thing that happened (the error) is, but I never get a BSOD with an error I can post, just a restart and Windows telling me there was an error and asking how I want to boot.

BSOD Continuously Crashing?

Sep 12, 2011

I have a Intel Quad Core HP elite Desktop M8190a everything is as manufactured except i upgraded the ram to 4GB.Originally running Vista .. Last week while playing a mp3 file from an external HDD a loud "ticking" occured then the computer crashed. Restarted automatically then a BSOD appeared stating something about a BAD_POOL_CALLER.

Problem Name:BlueScreen
BCCode:50
BCP1:8C100000
BCP2:00000000
BCP3:82E5A1C5

[code]....

For the last week it has kept crashing daily so i decided to do a full system format to take it back to factory settings. Seemed all was going well, until i got a message stating "bad system configuration, unable to install windows". So i decided to do a fresh clean install of windows 7 64bit (genuine) that i had purchased and had been meaning to do for months. All went well .. connected to the internet fine, activated windows 7. I then installed my printer and all seemed fine. But the second i hooked up my external HDD (which is not new, ive had it as a backup since i purchased the pc 4yrs ago) .. BSOD !!! AGAIN!!! Not sure if it was a coinsidence or not .. but now the pc will not load past the windows screen it just keeps restarting .. so i cant even see the minidump problem .. Also there is no option to use SAFE MODE .. which seems odd. Only options are "Start Windows normally" or "Lauch repair" as this is a fresh OS install attempt there is no last known good configuration .. also i did notice just before one of the crashes that windows was saying it wasnt a "Genuine Version" - but i did purchase it from a store.

Windows 7 Crashing Without BSOD?

Nov 26, 2011

I have been running my computer for about four years where i made a clean instal about one year ago and it was all running great. Then all of the sudden two weeks ago my computer began crashing giving black screen, but no BSOD. This resulted in myself trying to fix it by doing a new clean instal, resetting my HDD's, renewing the battery on my motherboard. i tried updating drivers and such but nothing really seems to work. The strange thing is that yesterday i could run my pc the entire day, but when at the end of the day i tried to shut it down the computer froze. No picture no sound and no responce what so ever just like reguler. The weird thing that i see is that the fans and lights keep working. Pressing the shift five times doesn't give a sound and when it normaly freezes the music and evrything stops.

BSOD: Bad_pool_caller! Constantly Crashing

May 12, 2011

I had posted another forum post on the games section where I kept getting this bluescreen error when I played WoW. However today the issue occured even when I didn't run the game so I think its just a general problem now.I wiped my entire computer, reupdated all my drivers and reinstalled windows 7 and wow to try to fix the problem, but no luck. I though the problem was my memory at first, so I did several memory diagnosis tests and tried different sticks of RAM (current using 8g) and they all passed and no errors came up on the windows memory diagnosis tests. I also went to the alienware website and re-downloaded all the drivers for my M17 model, and I updated windows about 50 times.I will provide my system specs and my minidump files below for you techy's to take a look:

BSOD, Crashing When Plugging In A USB Device?

Feb 24, 2012

My computer crashes whenever I plug a USB device in it. I first noticed it when I plugged in a camera, thinking it was the camera, I then tried my own flash drive which worked fine (Possibly using fat32 format); but yesterday I tried my mates flash drive (NTFS) and that crashed it, I've also tried a bunch of other flash drives around the house and they also crash my computer.I'm running windows 7 64 bit, ASUS p8z68-v pro mobo, i5 2500k, 4GB DDR3 1600MHz ripjaw, Sapphire HD6950.I have tried running memtest which passed 13 times flawlessly. I also tried running driver verifier, which seemed to really screw me over. At the start, when the windows logo first appears, it hangs a little bit and then blue screens. Luckily I had made a system repair disk the night before. I also don't know why but when I tried to start in safe mode (pressing f8 while booting) all it gave me was the option to choose which device to boot from, which I'm guessing is some sort of feature on my mobo, but I digress. So I'm guessing it's something to do with USB drivers?

BSOD Crashing On Desktop/playing HL:S And On System Repair

Sep 13, 2012

I recently got my first crash(0x00000050) on my pretty new Asus G74SX-A1 laptop while playing Half-Life: Source and never had any other blue screens before that. After that, I restarted and went to desktop and it eventually crashed again but when it did I opened Steam(not sure if connected). After that second crash, I went and scanned my PC on safe mode and then restarted again and tried to do a system repair but right after it was done I got the second BSOD(0x0000001a).

I have not recently installed any new hardware or anything that could change my system in any way. The last time I updated my PC's hardware was when I updated my graphics card (Nvidia gtx 560m) to a beta client about 3-4 weeks ago and haven't had any problems.

I looked through some of the error dumps my self to see what was causing the problems and it says it was "ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0" but I'm not too sure what to do.

I provided the dump files in the attachements(2 dump files zipped). Edit: I think I might have fixed it by updating my graphics card, performing hard drive error checking, and chkdsk /f. I am not totally sure if it is resolved yet and if it is not, I will post back with more information informing that it has not worked.

Crashing And Corruption After Windows 7 Re-install?

Jul 9, 2012

Essentially after a few years of using my current computer I wiped the hard drive and re-installed. I did a complete wipe by booting from my Windows 7 disk and then "Deleting" the entire Hard Drive before re-installing. Do not misunderstand I "Deleted" the Hard Drive contents, without "Formatting" using some advance options in the installation stage. After reinstalling Windows 7 I had numerous issues, such as my Integrated Graphics card acting faulty, causing GUI problems. I'v also had my network card fail and eventually it seemed the Hard Drive corrupted itself since Windows 7 refused to load. So Once again I wiped, reinstalled and it worked fine again for another 3 days or so before happening again, at which point I restored my computer to an earlier state, which happened to be before and update and it now works again. it seems they develop after a period of 3-4 days. My GUI is playing up and reverting back to the native settings and style. I also started my computer up and Windows ran a Hard Drive check for corruption and removed some files.

TLDR: Reinstalled Windows 7 numerous times and I'm still getting problems with various parts of the computer.

Note: I reinstalled "Drivers" necessary and updated them.

Windows 7 Wont Complete Install Restarts Install Or Bsod?

Sep 7, 2012

First off this is a newly built computer, all fresh components. aftercleaning/activating the hdd via shift +f10 at Windows 7 setup,(which took me a day to figure out) i was very excited to see my hdd available for Windows 7 installation. as i proceed windows does its thing, after installing its time for the first restart. it restarts right back to the initial windows 7 setup ive done a lot of research, and majority of the problems seem to be the boot priority in bios. so i made sure that it was usb-hdd, then hard drive. (Windows 7 on flash drive for me, no dvd burner available). still the same thing, right back to initial setup. i tried maybe to remove the flash drive during the 10 second countdown to restart, but when it restarts, the windows splash screen comes up and then blue screens and restarts real quick. cant see what the error is on bsodthere have been a couple different start up issues, "windows did not start properly" "select version of windows to start from" (or something to that effect.) but its all the same outcome. windows 7 just wont finish installation

BSOD With Install Of Intel Graphics Driver Or Install Of Graphics Card

Jul 19, 2012

I've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.

When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.

I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.

I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.

I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.

I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.

System:
ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/GEN 3
