View 5 RepliesI can't seem to figure out how to set an animated gif as my desktop wallpaper in windows 7 so that it will work properly. Normally it just treats it as a still image, though it used to work on windows XP. Any programs out there that will make it work or any way to change this without the use of programs?

Note: Snow Leopard Installation DVD is 6 GB so it requires a DL DVD if being installed from DVD, the thing is -for some reason- people are advising DVD - R DL.
I had my wallpaper set as one that changes every 3 minutes or so. I set it up Wednesday, but yesterday when I put my 2nd monitor on to watch a movie, the wallpaper disappeared and went blank. I thought it did this just because it wouldn't work with 2 monitors enabled, but when I turned the 2nd monitor off in Nvidia control panel, the wallpaper flashed back on for a second and now it stays black. I restarted but it still stays black. Even if I try changing wallpaper in Personalize it doesn't change.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI CANNOT choose my own wallpaper. I've research what the problem and I've come up with different solutions, but none of these seems to work such as, deleting the Transcoded Wallpaper.jpg.To put it simple my wallpaper is black or a solid color and even if hit "save changes" in the personalize menu in Windows 7, it still won't change. I see the icons, everything is working fine, its just that my wallpaper can't be change and you only could change to a solid color. This issue started when a relative of mine installed iMesh into the computer, I removed it completely and since then the black solid wallpaper has been on my desktop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 build 6956 on a laptop with t3200 2.ghz cpu and intel 4500 gma with 4gigs of ram.Now my problem is that on random cases the desktop would go black more specifically the wallpaper disappears. The taskbar is there working OK, when I click the show desktop button on the taskbar the wallpaper re-appears. When I browse the windows by hovering over the windows all seems fine but when I click on the window the wallpaper disappear again. So far it can be resolved by a simple login/logout but still annoying. The only instances I remember this happening was when I was trying out the slideshow and after playing dota (GARENA).

Or even better perhaps, cycle through a different wallpaper for each click of this button, where you can add as many as you want, for an Easter Egg perhaps for a theme for Win 7?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy new laptop is only 5 weeks old. It is Windows 7 64 bits. Since yesterday, my desktop does not display Windows 7 logo nor HP logo. Instead, the desktop is white color covering my blue wallpaper and has huge black letters message saying: "Stop! You may have to clean up your computer with our program because it may be clogged up. "The service trays lower left and lower right both display the few icons correctly (volume, Skype, Weather, Internet Explorer 9 etc.) When I click on these icons they work. They work. How do I gat rid of this annoying message and get back my blue wallpaper and desktop with Windows logo& and HP logo? There is nothing to click on to delete the message. My Norton and Microsoft Essentials both ran a long scan and both tell me I have no virus.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOver the past several days my HP Windows 7, 64 bit, Home Premium PC has developed a freeze problem! After rebooting by pushing the button, it functions quite normally for anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours. Then, without warning, one of several things happens, each resulting in a freeze. And in all cases I have to reboot by pushing the button.
* The desktop icons disappear, leaving only the wallpaper.
* The cursor disappears or freezes in place and nothing can be done.
* I will be working in a browser or in a MS Word document and it will grow faint and when I click I get the prompt that the program is not responding, then I am unable to do anything even though the cursor works. I can't close anything, open anything or reboot.
I have researched the issue, but it is so broad a problem, I don't have a clue where to go to research it.I have checked that no sleep mode is on. I have turned off all screen savers.I have disabled a good number of startup programs, including uninstalling several potential offenders.I have run cleanup programs such as CCleaner, etc. I have defragged.I ran scannow on my command prompt. No system errors were detected.I have run several spyware programs, but the problem persists. My hunch is that there is some program conflict or perhaps the browser is the problem. [code]

View 0 Replies View RelatedSo in the last month i noticed some of my folders i keep on the desktop change form the newer slicker icon of a folder back to the typical windows yellow folder. Then more and more until all of my folders where like that. Then all of sudden some sounds started to go from a normal contemporary notification sound to a dull sound from XP or older. Then about a week ago the "bar" if you will changed from a typical Win7 style back to a XP one where its dull. And its like that everywhere.
I have tried icon programs at first to fix the folder issue and unless i wanna do it one buy one its sucks and i just want them back to a normal win7 folder nothing fancy.I have tried changing themes via the ones pre installed and it might change my desktop wallpaper it never changes the "bars"Also tried other non microsoft theme programs with the same results.
ALSO i scanned my pc with Malwarebyes, CCleaner, WinASO, AVG and cleaned all up and so on rebooted all the same.Thought i may have installed too many apps or at least big apps (photo/video editing) and i uninstalled a few with no difference. So then i decided to check out my ram. So i make a bootable disc of a memory scanner. Ended up getting into the millions of errors with the ram i had and i stopped it before it was done with the intentions on getting ram and not waiting until scan was done to tell me i had 500 trillion errors lol.
Bought new ram installed it started her up and BAM .... same thing.I have not scanned this ram as my wife uses it while im at work and when im home i do alota 2nd job stuff on it so i dont like having it offline long.
I have a problem with my windows 7 home premium laptop..previously I was able to change my wallpaper but how come it doesn't seem like I can now? For an ordinary person to change the wallpaper they had to right click desktop, select "personalise", then go to "desktop background" and select one. Problem now is that it doesn't do anything when I click a new wallpaper or selct one and click save.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently sent my laptop in for minor repairs. Since having it back, my desktop background is staying black. I can "change" it in my settings, but the slideshow is not displayed (all icons, etc. are still visible). The selected background will flash on the screen briefly if I am closing a window or minimizing to the desktop. I've looked through settings to try to deactivate this black screen, but I haven't found anything useful.

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday i bought new grafic card geforce GT440 after my old 9800 GT stoped functioning normaly(memory failure). So here is the problem, when I start any program or do anything the computer the computer is functioning normally, but when I turn to desktop(which has black wallpaper) the monitor goes so dark that I can't see almost nothing. I tryed to find some power saving options in windows(win 7 pro, 64 bit) and on envidia control panel but i cannot find any cause for that dark screen. Even if I load a black page on my mozilla the monitor goes dark. As it cannot represent dark colors normally.

For my studies in Brussels, they all use mac os x. I have a compaq laptop with an upgrade from vista on it (so now Windows 7 ultimate). I do not want to buy a new macintosh laptop because i do not want to ruin my savers (like 900 euro's)... So I bought my self a upgrade DVD (20 euro's) to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Is there any way I can just install that thing WITHOUT deleting my windows 7 (it has a lot of giveawayoftheday programs installed wich I use daily) so I do not want to lose them... and then set up a dual boot so I can just hit mac or windows? My laptop is complex and I do not know a lot about computers...
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I'm a computer engineering student and I would love to be able to dual-boot Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) on my Dell computer. However, I'm worried things will go terribly wrong and I'll end up screwing my computer up. I'm no expert (yet) when it comes to installation of OS's, partitioning, etc., but I'm pretty sure I could figure most of it out... if I had a guide.
Does anyone have/has anyone made a step-by-step Windows 7/OS X dual-boot procedure that is relatively simple to understand?
* As a note: I will be installing Windows 7 from a CD in about a week when I delete my Vista partition (after backing up all of my files). I'm assuming I would have to order Snow Leopard (a single use license) in order to install it!
I'm trying to dual boot windows 7 and snow leopard. The problem that I am getting is, that when I try to boot into Mac it says kernel panic or something like that and tells me I need to restart my computer. I keep restarting it and keep on getting the same thing. I'll start from the beginning on how I started off. First I put in snow leopard cd then when the installer loaded i went into utilities, then disk utilities. I then split my hard drive into two partitions. First one I named Snow Leopard the second windows 7. Then after it erased everything and partitioned I installed snow leapord on partition 1 then windows 7 on partition 2. When I put in the Iboot CD and chose Mac it gave me the problem that I mentioned above. So right now I'm on the second partition the one named Windows 7.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs this possible? I do not have a windows 7 cd, is this necessary? What version of Snow leopard do I need, and what other programs? If you know of a good tutorial, please post it! I'm new to partitions and bios and stuff.
