How To Share Files Between 2 Laptops In Wireless Network
Oct 4, 2011
i have 2 laptops and 1 desktop system. all the computers have windows seven home primeum installed. i am using d-link wireless router to access on internet. i want to share my files from one laptop to another and also with my desktop computer.
I have 2 laptop that I need network it? First laptop Lenovo Y460 and second Dell 5110. First connect with a LAN Cable. Then I goto Local Area Network both laptop and set IP.
Lenovo = IP 192.168.1.1 Gateway = 192.168.1.2 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Dell = IP 192.168.1.2 Gateway = 192.168.1.1 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
I goto change advanced sharing setting: (in both laptop) - Turn on Network Discovery - Turn on file and printer sharing - Turn off password protection
But I can goto to another laptop isn't name computer alfa1. I goto run \alfa1. But don't access to it! Also I'm a administrator. My OS is Windows 7 home premium and another system Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have previously shared video over windows 7 homegroup with a WIRED connection to wireless devices such as a laptop (win 7 also) and ps3. recently however, I got a wireless card and moved my desktop making all devices wireless. now i cannot see any other devices in the network, nor connect to a homegroup. the problem seems to go away when i am hardwired to the router. on a sidenote, i think i remember noticing when my desktop was still hardwired, that i could share only one way -> from desktop to wireless laptop, but for some reason not from laptop to desktop. not sure though, i never really had a reason to share from the laptop to desktop. one last thing, i could view the ps3 as an "unidentified device" from the desktop and laptop in the media sharing options (could tell from mac address) but they would not show up in the ps
I have two laptops one Windows 7 (7127 x64) the other XP Pro(at the moment), and a Maxtor Family Storage II Network Drive.
I have the same profile setup on all three items.
I want all of the files in my library that I have on my Windows 7 machine to be copied over to the Maxtor Network drive.
Then I want the XP machine to copy the files from the Network to its self using the Offline option in XP.
Im trying to have the Maxtor drive keep the most resent copy of any file I modify on either laptop. That way when I take one of them with me when I return to my home it will sync up with the Maxtor drive and update those files always keeping the newest copy.
I would like to do this without having to add any third party software if I can. I have been trying for days to get this to work and it fails to copy any files to any of the other drives. If someone has a link to a Tutorial or anything that would help me get this that would be great.
I have 2 computers at home. One is a laptop and the second one is a normal PC. Both of them are connected ia WI-FI to a router which is connected to another router which is outside and connected to WIFI source a few km away ... Anyway, I have a question. I want to share files bewteen these two computers. Each of them have IP which was added to them by the router. When I try to ping the router I do not a problem but when I try to ping 1 computer 192.168.0.153 from the other computer 192.168.0.154 it says: destination host unreachable. I want to create a homegroup but when I create one the other pc just does not see it
I have a network share set up with everything working. My roommates can see, read, and download files from me, and my WDTV Live can play back music, videos, etc. These folders that are shared have Security settings with the user "Everyone" with Read & execute, List folder contents, and Read set to "Allow". The problem I'm having is when I add new files to a folder that is shared; it doesn't inherit this "Everyone" username permission to it's Security tab.
My roommate and I have noticed that whenever my PC is turned on, nothing else can connect to our wireless -- our phones, laptops, and the PS3 simply won't connect. When we turn it off, all of those can be connected at the same time, but the second windows 7 begins, they'll all lose connection.
I have a HP laptop thats about a year old now. It was running great at school and when i got home my family decided to purchase a N route. We set it up with the security (pain in the ass) and everything seemed to be fine. About a day later my laptop takes close to 20 minutes to download a 5mb song. It can take almost a full minute or two to open a page such as this or one with pictures on it. Yet when i go on my brothers laptop or use the hardwire, the connection is blazing fast.
I purchased a new laptop, and have been having numerous issues with windows 7, including the wireless internet being insanely slow. I've tried other wireless adapters to no avail, and every other computer in the house, be it wireless, or not runs perfectly, with the speed tests all running about the same, while this laptop runs at about 1/4 of the speed. I can only assume it's some sort windows settings, and not anything to do with the ISP or the router because of such.To add, and I don't know if this will be of any use, but while doing regular browsing, the speeds are fine, you can't really notice a slowdown. But when viewing videos or downloads, it tanks. I've noticed my download speeds start out, and stay at their max speed (about 1.1MBps) for say 5 seconds, only to sink to about 250-300KBps for the remainder.
Desktop connected to the internet via usb network adapterThe desktop has a lan card.How can I setup the OS so the wireless internet connection is shared to the lan connection to a router to the router can receive an internet connection.

I am planning on configuring dual boot on my laptop (Win 7 and win 8).I was following this tutorial How To Dual Boot Windows 7 and Windows 8. The tutorial is pretty self-explanatory but the only thing I can't find anywhere is if I will be able to share files between these 2 OS?Can I share files, if yes, then how?
I have a network in the house with a mix of windows operating systems.My server is just windows XP SP3 sharing folders across the network by user name login. They are all on a workgroup not domain and the Windows 7 PC's do not have homegroup enabled and all the settings are enabled in the sharing centre options, ie network iscovery etc.WirelessLaptop 1 running Windows 7, Laptop 2 running Windows XP SP3, when accessing the shared folders on the server will bring up a login screen so you can input your user name and password. You then can access your allocated shared folders.WiredAll wired PC's when accessing the shared folders on the server will bring up a login screen so you can input your user name and password. You then can access your allocated shared folders. Mainly Windows 7 now. Windows XP was previously installed and worked ok also.The problem is that on a new install of Windows 7 on a laptop when you click the Server icon in windows explorer, the server automatically shows all of the available folders and no-login screen. This means that you cant login to view your allocated folders on the server.

I have no idea why microsoft does such simple things through the ass, maybe to make people go crazy. Here's the problem:
I have wifi network setup, homegroup with my blueray dvd player, xbox 360, 3 other computers (all windows 7). on homegroup options, I check marked all options, video, music, docs etc to be shared, and also to be streamed.
I made 3-4 folders in my drive (f) to put all my stuff in there that I wanted to share, but when I right click either of the folders and go to "share with" they all are set to "nobody" and when I click "sharewith homegroup" at buttom of screen something blinks as if another screen opened for a second- but nothing changes, it stayes on "nobody". Nothing fixed this. Not replacing securities, not remaking homegroup, I mean i've tried 100 different things and nothing seems to work.
Funny thing, on my xbox/dvd player - 2 of these folders are visable and I can play files in them, although they are both set to "nobody" as well. But others aren't.

I don't know what to do. in the PC i can see the laptop but I can't access it, but in laptop i even can't see the PC.
