I have an ASUS laptop ,I have a problem . when I try Ctrl+Space the chinese language is enabled .How do i disable this?As i need this shortcut for another tool.BTW this is a 64 bit Windows Home Premium
View 4 RepliesI download a Traditional Chinese language pack (iso) from Microsoft Connect and I followed the instruction that i found from Internet to change my windows display language from English(default) to Chinese but I'm having problem to install it.
In the installation windows after i browsed for the language pack file it tells me that "the language cannot be installed in this computer" (see screen shot below). Any help?

I'm looking for a program which translates the OS(programs etc) into chinese. I understand that language package is only available for windows 7 ultimate but the cost is too extreme. The computer is a present(dell inspiron 17) I want to give to a friend but they are not very literate in ENglish so I was hoping there were alternative programs I can install to change the language settings.
I'm also aware there are windows 7 chinese versions but that too costs alot to purchase.
How can i change display language chinese to english?

When I invoke Photostory 3 I am expecting to find it in Portuguese, ... but its still in English.i used the official PhotoStory3Portuguese(Brazil).msi?Even if I install the Portuguese version, does it still look at the OS language when invoked and say "well, your OS is in English so I am going to display in English"?

My com can't display chinese and korean fonts whenever I go into either website. and I also can't type Korean, chinese and japanese language anymore. I did go to Regional and language options but the drop down menu DID NOT show these 3 language which I want and I try clicking the "install files for East Asian languages" but its need me to insert the CD. I tested it on some several other (32 and 64 bit) computers and it is showing everything correctly. The computer that it is not working correctly is running 32bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate. All computers are running English version of windows 7.

It's configured for English and the System Local for non-Unicode is English (RP Philippines).I've been able to copy and past Chinese characters from Word --> Notepad -->Chrome/Firefox/IE for work (I was localizing a website) with no problems until last night. Today, when I tried to copy-paste a few chinese characters from Word, I was suddenly only seeing square boxes. I know this means that the font or app can't recognize or render the characters. My questions is WHY? and how to Fix it? It frustrates me since it was fine yesterday. I haven't installed anything new or changed any setting that I know of. Other applications still render the characters just fine. In fact, if I copy-paste a Chinese character from word to notepad (making a square), then copy the square from Notepad to Chrome, I get the Chinese character back rendered perfectly.
The only change would be a windows update KB915597 that automatically installed last night. To add insult to injury, whenever I go to Windows Update to look at my optional updates and try to search for the Chinese (simplified) LIP, it's not displayed! Even when I click "restore hidden updates". I've even tried the Windows Update Reset regkey, which deleted my Windows Update history, but the LIP's are still not there.
I've removed one of the language keyboard input in the settings but seems like it still appears in my language bar in desktop and it doubts me because everytime I have to shift twice to get back my input language into "EN" after using other language input.

Now I know I can't change the system language (need windows ultimate for that) but I believe on Asus computers you can select English as the display language on the initial install (so each shop is telling me) and so i have read (which i don't really understand as why can you do this on ASus laptops only - surely windows is windows? ie you can or you can't!).
If this is true i was wondering just what will be changed into English (i.e. what exactly is the display language)? I gather the majority of menus etc will be in English, but what about if my laptop goes wrong and I have to start digging a bit deeper? Does anyone know if all the settings menus change so i'll be able toedit the registry if need be (just an example!).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought my computer half a year ago and ever since then there was a language bar that I could use. It worked just fine. Just recently, my computer had to recover data (pressing f12 repeatedly during startup) because of a "hard drive damage". When i finally had most of my data recovered, I found out my language bar was missing. I tried going to control panel>clock, language, and region>change keyboards or other input methods>change keyboards>languagebar. There, I made sure it wasn't on hidden and that I had picked a language. There use to be a "EN" icon on my taskbar where it let me change languages, but now it isn't there. Is there anything else i could do to make it appear/work again?

However, they would really prefer it if the OS language was in Japanese (eg when you press the Windows key instead of 'Computer' it's 'コンピュータ'). I've tried fiddling around with mine, but changing the language seems to only change it for my clock, not the entire OS. I've heard with Enterprise one can freely change the languages in such a manner, but I would like confirmation before I recommend my friend a laptop and buying another OS if it's unnecessary and changeable through some other means.
