Headphone Speaker Does Not Work But Microphone Does
Jan 10, 2012
When i use my SKYPE account to talk with someone they can totally hear me but the problem is I can't hear them. my audio device is REALTEK audio device
i tried a lot of changes in my laptop but it doesn't work at all.
Facing a weird problem for a long time (3 months or more but got chance to google it today). Its a dell studio 1555 with IDT High Definition Audio Codec with windows 7 x64 Ultimate OS. I had to give a clean OS after a fatal crash and sound is giving a weird problem from then. No sound through my speaker;only through headphones. If I remove headphone then IDT setup options pop ups and I cant' work until headphone is there.... Downloaded the latest driver from dell's recommended site and still not good...tried to uninstall and restricting the auto installation by windows from "gpedit.msc" and manual installation through the latest driver..yet nothing happened..
The short: audio plays through back audio jack and front audio jack at the same time.
Would like for my computer to recognize that the front(headphones) is plugged in and stop playing sound through the speakers. (Late night computer usage)
-Opened my computer to check if my front audio jacks are plugged in
-plugged in my headphones - no sound
-found in article about marking "disable front panel jack detection"
-sounds works through headphones, in front jack YAY
-now both speakers and headphones play sound.
-installed drivers from ECS website for my motherboard
-installed drivers from realtek.com latest
Nothing worked to control the sound coming from one device at a time.
Weird things: A lot of people have device advanced settings. I dont.
- in those options there should be an option where it says "mute rear output device, when front headphones are plugged in"
-i wish i had that option, but i dont get the advanced folder at all.

-another thing, when i conect my rear audio jack. i get a message that new device connected, i never get this when i connect or dissconnect my front jack
-one more thing i noticed that i found wierd. is that under
Contol panel/sound/playback devices. i only have speakers(realtek high definition audio) show up, no HEADPHONES.
-when i go into properties for the speakers i find that the jack information shows the front and back under the one speaker. Is that correct, shouldnt the jacks be seperated?
I have a LG LW20 Express and have just installed Windows 7 + Realtek's lates driver for Windows 7 (from Realteks homepage).
Everything work OK without that when I plug in headphone speakers does not turn off. When I plug in headphone I get a question what I have pluged in, I choose headphone but I still have sound out from my speakers.
I am using Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 laptop. Yesterday, I made several updates (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit updates, upgrade to K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.8.4 and K-Lite Codec Pack 5.3.0-64bit, upgrade to Avira Free Antivirus 2012 and so forth...). After that, when I play sounds and plug my headphone, the sounds keep playing through BOTH headphone and speaker. This is extremely annoyed me because I have to work in the library, lab and class room with my laptop usually and I can't listen to music while studying with this problem.
I recently got the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha headset for Christmas and tried them out. I plugged in the USB thing that came with it, which allowed you to plug the headphones and mic into a USB port, and it installed the device fine. Right now I have to send them back because of a problem with the headset. But when I unplugged the USB I noticed that I have no speaker in playback devices. And when I plug in my older headphones into the front of the computer they don't appear in the playback devices. I tried checking "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices" but all I get are four Digital Audio (HDMI) devices. The same thing shows up in Device Manager. I could use my headphones but only when the Sound Blaster USB thing was plugged in. I have Realtek High Definition Audio but now it doesn't show up in Device Manager. Also, my speakers are built into my monitor.
When i installed Windows 7 everything was fine but only my sound from speaker aren't working. I have Gateway CX2724 laptop. When i had Vista and XP it worked fine but now it doesnt. Please let me know how to fix it. I will appreciate a lot.
Since few month, I got strange sound coming out of the speaker. Since I don't listen too much music, I did not look to resolve the problem The noise is always present, but I could hear glitching when i play with my mouse wheel. When mouse is dragged travel trough some pages, I could hear clicking sound in the back.I did try to turn off every device that interface with the sound, no luck.My PC board is an old Asus P5B with the sound controller?
I recently purchased DELL N5050 laptop. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate OS on it. I installed all the drivers required from this link: url...But whenever i play any media (viz., audio/video), only front-right speaker sound playing can be heard. The front-left speaker does not work. Its a brand new laptop. I tried re-installing all the drivers (which i thought may not have been installed properly).
I have Dell Inspiron N4050 Laptop with Integrated Webcam and running Windows 7 Ultimate edition - 64 bit.I normally call using Gmail's Call phone service. I want to setup so that I can use Internal microphone in laptop to transmit my voice and hear the incoming call voice using external speakers.I normally keep external speakers connected to laptop for listening to music, but whenever I have to make a call, I have to remove the speaker cables and connect headphone cables in audio jack. So, I am looking up for solution to do make audio/video calls using external speakers and without needing to connect headphones to transmit my voice to caller.
My wife HP Pavilion DV6175ea laptop running windows 7 ultimate 32 bits was fine with the sound until a month ago. Note that upgraded from vista since the windows 7 launch. From that date till now it as no sound from the speakers but it is ok from the headphones. Tried different audio drivers but no results. Tried to insert and remove headphonde jack several times with no results.
I have hp dv1738od and have upgraded to Windows 7, previously Windows XP. Everything seem to be working ok except, for the sound. Window 7 automatically installed the driver, and said the sound card was working properly. But there was no sound through speaker.
I removed the driver and reinstall the driver that I got from HP website that work for Window Vista. Installation went through with no problem and Device manager indicated no isssue on sound driver. However there was still no sound coming out from the speaker, only through headphone jack.
I read tons of forums, and some has suggested that it may be the jack connection. I tried plugging in and out numerous time, and that did not solve the issue. Sound could be heard for like a sec, when headphone was being plugged out but it goes away quickly. To determine if it was hardware or software issue, i reinstalled Window XP and there was sound through speaker. So for sure it is not the speaker issue.
I cannot make to work mic in my headphone. I inslalled lates Windows 7 Realtek drivers but OS don't want to work with them (code 10). What to do? OS just work with its own HDA drivers, but do not work with microphone jack on rear panel. In recording deviced it shonwn microphone on front panel jack? but I havn't front audio panel...
I just installed Windows 7 on my home computer. When I plug in my old speakers (Creative Intrigue 2.1s) whatever speaker is plugged into the right jack BARELY gets any sound. I did some research and it seems this is a semi common problem. I tried messing with all the balance levels and hooked up an old set of speakers which work fine. I also tried switching speakers and whichever is in the right audio jack barely works while the other works fine. The only other thing I was able to find was someone said they got a "new" cord and it fixed their problem. Is there a cord that would work with Windows Vista but wouldnt work with Windows 7?
my computer does not recognize when i plug a microphone in. I am using a pair of headphones with a microphone attached to it. I have tried 2 different sets so i know the actual mic works. Under control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices, Recording tab, it says "no audio devices are installed" I have tried using 2 different ports and it still doesnt work.I recently installed to windows 7 from vista, could it be that some sort of audio driver didnt get installed or xfered over correctly? How would i figure this out? My microphone worked just fine when i had windows vista installed. NOTE that my sound works fine and the audio comes through my headset just fine, but i cant get the microphone to work.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D-13P and I cannot get my built in microphone to work. I know next to nothing about computers so I've been googling and messing around with settings to try and get it to work, I've even uninstalled and re-installed the sound and webcam drivers, but nothing is going on. Basically, I'm trying to use Skype and I can see and hear them, they can see me, they just cannot hear me. I've tried the tests and stuff on the computer seperate from Skype, but it's still not working. Also, I don't know if it helps at all but the microphone is Realtek HD Audio?
I HAVE HCLME LAPTOP WITH WINDOW 7 BUILTIN MICROPHONE SHOWS NOT PLUGGED INMY SPEAKERS RUNS PERFECTLY ASWELL AS MY WEBCAM.MY AUDIO DRIVER REALTECH AUDIO. I GONE CONTROL PANEL THEN IN SOUND GONE TO RECODING TAB BUT THERE MICROPHONE is GREY DOES NOT HIGHLIGHT ANYTHING ONE RED ARROW SHOW NOT PLUGGED IN it is enable also i have installed lastest sound drivers also
I have a Windows 7 64bit Dell Studio 1535. Recently, the microphone does not work. I'm not sure what to do since I can't "see" the device in device manager and I've downloaded a large number of drivers (anything audio related) but that does not seem to have fixed the issue. All I know is that I have an "array" microphone but besides that, not so much. Am I missing drivers? Are the webcam and mic drivers the same?
I have a thinkpad x100e netbook and a Conexant CX20582 SmartAudio HD sound card.i just reinstalled windows 7 and it seems the microphone has not worked since i did that. I have adjusted, updated, disabled and enabled the drivers, but i still do not get any sound when playing back recordings or skype test calls i make. the system lets me make the recording, and skype seems to detect the microphone, but nothing plays back.the speakers work without problem.when i try to set up the microphone, the prompt does not identify it. i have tried to connect a microphone as well, but either way, i would like to mostly rely on the built-in mic anyway.also, the microphone does not show up on the volume mixer.
I have an Acer Aspire 5517 that the microphone does not work with Skype and probably other programs, I have tried to use an external microphone which worked for a time but no longer.
I recently buy a headset with microphone with the Pink/Green jacks The earset part of them works fine, but the mic part doesn't at all.The system doesn't even pick up that a mic is plugged in. I have tried both the front and back jacks of my PC with the same issues. Under the Recording Tab in Sound it reads, NO audio devices are instaled, and I have the Show disabled devices checked. My biggest issue is I use gtalk and can't talk on it with this issue.
I followed this step>>>>
1. Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices".
2. Right click on the blank place in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
3. Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
4. Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
5. Click Apply.
6. Select Microphone and click on Properties.
7. Click on Levels tab. The default Microphone Boost is set to 0,increase it.but after Right click on the blank place in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".I do not find any Microphone.
