BSOD Playing Any Game, Error 0x00000101

Oct 24, 2011

Whenever I play a game for longer than 10 minutes, this happens. Affected games: trackamania nations, trackmania united, CoD4, MW2, BO, Oblivion, .. Most games. Stepmania doesn't seem to have the problem, so I think it may be OpenGL/DirectX related. This sound is also paired with severe FPS problems. After a few more minutes of play, I the BSOD; [URL]One odd thing is that when I launch a game (for example CoD4, which boots quickly, because other games need to boot steam first :s) right after startup, and leave it running for say 10 minutes, the problem will not exist for the entire session, until I reboot.Natively, I had Vista, after a month orso the problem started occuring. Then I clean installed Windows 7 Home Premium, the problem didn't exist at first. After a month, same problem. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, which gave the same story.I'm confident that the problem is with an auto-update of something, I deliberately didn't instal any drivers manually.

CPU: Intel i7-920
GPU: NVIDIA 285 GTX
RAM: 6 Gb DDR3
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

UPDATE:

Windows information:

- 64 bit.

- Not the original OS. At first this had Windows Vista Home Premium Dutch 64 bit, then Windows 7 Home Premium Dutch 64 bit as an upgrade I got cheaply from my ACER, and finally out of misery I got Windows 7 Ultimate English 64 bit.

- Full retail.

- I got my system just over 2 years ago.

- My current OS is about half a year old I estimate. The problem recurred over all OS's.

May 13, 2012

i've recently getting this BSOD error randomly " A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval "on my new Shuttle XPC SH67H3 system. How it goes is that, at first the system was really stable, without any crashing issues, but recently, when i tried flashing my BIOS, i some how screwed it up and the PC doesnt POST .. so to cut it short, i've manage to changed to a brand new motherboard to replaced it with the faulty one, and that's where BSOD starts to happen.

BSOD When Computer Is Idle. No BSOD When Playing Games For Hours?

Jul 3, 2012

I started getting BSOD two weeks ago. As far as I can remember the first time I had a BSOD was on the day I installed Max Payne 3 (I read somewhere that the some guy had also this problem when he installed max payne). There were two occasions that I got a BSOD upon starting Max Payne 3. But lately I'm getting BSOD when doing low-load stuffs like browsing with no other apps opened. I've already done memtest with 10 passes with no errors. I'm 24 hours prime95 stable. I just don't get it! I've manually set my timings for my ram. I'm not doing any overclock. Everything is on stock settings.

I Recently built my new PC with Gigabyte MB, i used my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 HP OEM and installed it , after 2 months microsoft said that the copy is pirated, while it is installed on my HP Laptop perfectly and i use it, i knew that is because it is OEM and not for the new MB. ok that's not the problem, the problem is after installing of two weeks , when i install any game or big software my PC USES ALL THE MEMORY. the free RAM is Zero. and the computer slows down completely. The question is does windows OEM issue make this. or it is a RAM Problem.? The first time I encountered this problem, I decided to format my SSD but the same issue again after installing SP1. Installing PC Games On Data Partition D

I've got my 500gb laptop hdd partitioned with majority on d data partition (have not installed anything ever to d - only c). I do have my user folders relocated to the d part. Where should I install or set up game directory for my d partition? (Current game I'm installing is recommending c/prog files(x86)/published/game title) should I just change c: to d: even though those folders don't exist, installation will create them? Are steam games installed to different path normally than x/program files. How might future steam game installs affect where/what directory folders? Any program for remapping or whatever would be needed to use an xbox 360 controller for pc games?

Ram Usage While Installing Games And Pc Freeze

Nov 12, 2009

I've had this problem only on windows7, for every game I've installed.

Basically, during the installation all of the RAM is used up, and when it ends the system won't free up the RAM, the PC is dead slow and I have to restart it.

It's not a hardware problem, these are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.0ghz

RAM DDRII 4GB 800mhz

Motherboard: ASUS P5Qpro

ATI RADEON 4850 Toxic 512mb

Windows 7 RTM x64

has this happened to anyone else?

it's never happened to me with Windows XP, nor Vista, or even Ubuntu.

i used to have 2GB RAM, then when this happened I upgraded to 4 but it made no difference.

Usage Of RAM While Installing Programs / Games

Oct 13, 2009

Im using Windows 7 now for a while. I was reading on another forums reports by multiple users about abnormal usage of RAM (100% usage) while installing games or programs and it causes stalling while CPU usage is near 0%. I also asked these question on another forum and didnt get anwser.

I was wondering why, because I didnt notice that behaviour on my computer never before. But yesterday when I was installing a game I noticed just that. The installation proces was very slow, RAM usage was 100%, CPU at zero. So I suspect a update of a kind or something similar is cousing this problem.

Installing Games On Windows 7 Operating System

Jul 10, 2011

I don't play many games on my computer, but occassionally I enjoy (or used to) playing Bejeweled or specifically Jewel Quest. I purchased the latest Jewel Quest game from Best Buy and it said it was compatible with Windows 7, and in fact in installed fine. When I attempted to play the game I got a gray screen, then a white screen then a screen that resembled a flat with red, white and green strips and these three screens just kept alternating.

I couldn't stop them; I couldn't Cnt/Alt/Del out of it and I coluldn't get to the start menu to shut down. I turned the computer off manually. Upon restarting, the computer would not go past the "Windows" screen. I did this a number of times, but was never able to get it to reboot normally. I ended up having to boot in Safe Mode, uninstall the game that I had installed and do a recovery reboot to an earlier date (yesterday) in order for my computer to come back up normally.

I had this very same problem when I tried resetting the screen resolution manually to play another game that I had installed. I ended up abandoning the idea. I am guessing that the problem that I am having has to do with the 64bit Operating System as opposed to a 32bit - but if the game says it is compatible with Windows 7 would it not automatically be able to run on a 64 bit Operating System.??? I am not so much concerned with the game as I am with other software that I may want to install in my computer. if there is a patch or a Windows update that I need to install to fix this problem?

Multiple BSODs Lately After Installing Games Off Steam?

Aug 20, 2012

I've been having quite a few blue screens lately after installing and playing a few games I bought off the Summer Sale not too long ago, and they seem to be jumping all over the place as to what the issue really is. It was mainly when I would play the game "Saint's Row the Third", which would result in a random BSOD between a few minutes to an hour or so of play, if the game itself didn't crash first for some reason, but I just recently installed TF2 for the first time on this new machine of mine and I've gotten several BSOD a day now as a result. Like... Now I get about 3+ crashes a day, and almost always guaranteed a crash whenever I try to run that game, compared to before where it was isolated to SR3 or the occasional one here or there.I got a message about a .sys file related to Avast! Anti-Virus trying to access memory after it was freed in a BSOD message earlier on, and it improved my stability quite a bit after I uninstalled the whole progam, but I've had a few more crashes since I wiped that out earlier today.

FPS Drops In Games After Installing 2 Safe Programs?

Feb 1, 2012

Last night I installed two programs, one called honor buddy, which is a WoW bot, and the other tortoise. When I later started WoW (MMO Game), I got extreme FPS drops. I usually have 70-100 fps depending where I am, but now I can barely turn the camera without getting freeze lag/ massive fps drop for some seconds, then it goes back to normal fps for a few seconds and then it starts to freeze again. And as I said I normally have around 100 fps in this area.f I dont move my camera and just walk forward I dont fps drop, but as soon as I do, I freeze..So something happened when I installed these two programs, I do not think I've got a virus because I have not heard anything negative about the programs. I ran a scan for viruses and similiar with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and didnt find anything harmful. So what can be wrong, can it be fixed without reinstalling windows

Visual Distortion On All Games And Some Sites After Installing Windows 7 Over XP

Feb 5, 2012

I havehad Windows XP for many years (I am not a techy). I cannot afford a new computer right now and my current Dell Computer(10 years old) had reached it's max storage and would not even boot up except in safe mode. My brother was helping me remotely to try and fix it and he ended up wiping everything I had not been able to back up. He also installed W7 without asking me (he meant well). The main problems I am having are visual. All my games...both on and off line..are blurry and distorted. I am no longer able to play solitaire or MSN Texas Holdem because the visual distortion is so annoying it hurts my eyes and ruins the game for me. I tried to revert back to XP but the visual changes are apparently permanent. As I cannot purchase a new computer at this time, I need some help to see if I can adjust my visual settings. Also, while I have been able to find a font that works reasonably well with W7, somesites are still difficult to read as the font seems faded out.

Low Disk Space / Installing Steam Games / Sharing Drives / Partitions

Mar 7, 2011

i own Garrysmod, a steam source-mod. It is a game that grows dynamically as I connect to server's, download addons, and receive mandatory game updates. The game file has exceeded 50Gb before. After getting infected with "Windows 7 Antivirus Pro" and making (I freely admit it, and I REALLY should have known better) a terrible mistake and breaking all .exe's while removing the infection, I was forced to re-install windows. However, for whatever reason (another stupid mistake) I re-installed windows on the wrong hard-drive. So now my C: drive is only 150 Gb, and my backup (both of them) are 1TB.I do not have the space to have garrysmod on my C: drive, which is where steam is installed (Last time I tried installing it somewhere else it would not work.)Now that the background information is done lets move on to what you can help me with!

I have been looking for a way to install garrysmod on another hard-drive without reinstalling steam and trying to get it to work on another hard-drive. I believe I have found one, but I am really a coward when it comes to this sort of thing, (I HATE re-formatting) the solution I have found apparently tells the computer that the directory/file is on C: when it is actually on another hard-drive, but I found it in an old forum thread, and the member that had posted it was banned.
