I just made a clean install of windows 7 build 7077 and it worked perfectly for 1 or 2 day but recently whenever I open opera or chrome or ie the taskbar and pretty much every thing but the navigator freeze until I close the navigator or after 5-10 min.
I have not found any error report relevant, nor process going crazy in term of cpu, memory, disk or network utilization. I have tried deactivating firewall, antieverything, windows firewall and defender, xfire, msn, aero.
Weirdly µtorrent, newsbin pro, msn, vnc doesn't freeze everything. I suspect the issue as started after running ccleaner but I don't know how to undo what it did. I have found hundred of people having about the same problem on XP but none of there solution worked for me.
When upgrading from 7048 to 7077 the installer freezes on the last step (copying files and settings) at 35% every time I've tried it. It suggested removing ATI Catalyst Install Manager and Control Panel, which I did, but it still hangs (although this time at 47%). I have tried several different configurations (with/without CCC and Install Manager, do/don't go online for updates, etc). Every time I have to force restart the computer and it will begin to restore the previous version.
I've been using seven (32bit version) for quite a while now on my laptop ( MSI GX710PX - amd turion64 x2, ati hd2600 (512MB), 250 GB,2 gigs of ram). The first installation did the problem mentioned in the title of the topic after i installed Kerio personal firewall - i didn't know what to do, so i just reinstalled windows.
But now it happened again:
The comp was running for 3 days, i turned it off @ around 2:00 am, then turned it on at 8:00 am - for the first time i could login, and i even see the taskbar and the background, but the icons never showed, i couldn't click anything on the taskbar either, ctrl+alt+del did nothing, so i had to restart it manually.
The login screen showed up, i entered my password, but it never made it to the desktop, it just got stuck like that, the HDD wasn't spinning or anything - restart - in safe mode it boots up normally , so i uninstalled a few recently installed programs ( mkvtoolnix and alike ), but after restarting it got stuck at the login screen again.
Now normally i would just reinstall windows, but after two months it has too many programs - lot of time to install them again
So i thought i'll ask here for help! The notebook has XP as it's main OS, seven is installed on a virtual harddrive (30gigs).
Just built a brand spanking new rig (specs below), and I installed windows 7 onto my SSD (No Problem!) and proceeded to install drivers, format my extra drive and start installing other software and etc. Then randomly I would get a blue screen telling me some sort of data dump message and the system would reboot normally. This persisted and I booted in safe mode a few times no problem. This morning I tried to boot and Windows 7 froze on the "starting Windows" screen, no colored orbs here. Since then I have attempted to reinstall windows onto my SSD(same freezing issue even after waiting over 40 min.), install windows on my hdd(same issue) and boot without various components(video card, cd drive etc) to no avail. I also flashed the latest BIOS via USB and have attempted boots w/o usb, intel smart connect and rapid start, and other possible solutions.

I have just installed windows 7 OEM on my new computer build and was already having problems doing that, but now that I have it installed, it consistently freezes during boot-up or within seconds of logging in. I don't get a blue screen or anything, I just freeze and have to restart. I have tried disabling all of the start up programs and trying it, but that didn't seem to work. The only way I have been able to use my computer is in safe mode. The only drivers I have installed are my chipset and graphics as they were the only ones I could install without windows freezing during the installation.
Intel i5 2500k 3.30ghz 8gb ram Win 7 home premium 64 bit gfx card Amd Radeon HD7700 Running the game off an SSD, not that that particularly should cause this problem, I imagine.
Game plays fine mostly, but three times now the game has frozen. On two occasions it froze in spot, sound still going, the screen went black, then redrew and played fine. One occasion it just stuck solid and I had to hard reset.I'm pretty sure all the main drivers are up to date, I sorted that out after the build. I thought maybe there was an issue last time as there were some surprise Windows updates after the crash and restart...but seemingly not."Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." is what it says.
i recently did a clean install of 7077 X64 replacing 7068 now for some reason i have two windows 7 listed in boot manger, the first one is the new one the second doesn't even work says boot manager is missing or something along those lines, so i formated and installed again same problem, when starting up after the first start up it takes for every to actually boot it just sits there after the win 7 little colors swirl to make the windows emblem
iv never had this problem before, all my drivers are up to date everything.
when i did an upgrade from 7077 to 7100, my grub menu's completely gone no more is it there. I know that partition's there it's just for some reason 7 decided to say oh no no more will you have the option to boot to linux probably a plan by M$ to screw over people who jsut want to do an "upgrade" into doing more work but oh well. So what's the plan now? Do i have to do a complete reinstall of ubuntu to get my grub back or is there a simpler fix?
Not sure if anyone's reported this yet, but I did a clean install of 7077 on my backup computer and anytime I start an application download and select "run" from the download menu, it downloads the program but will not start it, I have to go back and save the file, and run the .exe from there.
Installed the update (not a clean install). After about 1.5 hours, everything was back up and went into 7MC. Asked if I wanted to use previous settings, I said yes. Get a Playtime install screen, then get error (although playtime was already installed). Went to the next screen and get my PID key request, type it in and says error (I know which keys to use, installed it about 5 times now).
Try several different options as far as uninstalling playtime, try going through 7MC setup, continue to get the error.
My question is, will the PID registration automatically fail if Playtime is not installed. I'm worried that I now have a useless PID as some others have reported. Installing Windows Vista Home Premium from the reinstall disks hoping I can get the PID to work.
My current system was upgraded to windows 7 32bit from vista 32bit (I bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade disc when it was first released). I am going to build a complete new system. Can I install windows 7 64bit from the same windows 7 disc? Or do I have to buy a new windows 7 disc? Is there a way around buying a whole new disc?
Im having screen freezes every couple of days. My whole computer just freeze what its doing.Been
-on word -on a game -watching movies -transfering data
So no specifi thing sets it off.Cant alt-cnt-delete.Its like a screen shot of my computer and watching a picture. Cant even move the mouse. My keyboard can change colours via buttons on it (logitech g110). I cant even change the colours coz its like the whole pc is in a time freeze..Due to this i dont get an "windows had an unexpected error" message when i restart the computer...
I am currently running OS 7 Beta RC Build 7100. Were do I get this newer version, is there a big difference? And am I able to upgrade to the newer Beta?
I realize that October is fast approaching for the RTM but I plan to keep running the Beta for a couple of months past the Grand Opening.
Is it possible that all the updates that I have received equally add up to the newer build?
I rebuilt my computer with a new MOBO, CPU and RAM. I kept my old HDD with all files and the OS (Windows 7 Home Prem 64 bit). When I fired up the new system, it would not load Windows 7 (although the logo would start). It now tries to repair itself with no success. Does this mean that I need to rebuy Windows 7? If so which package (upgrade)?
My company bought about 15 pieces of desktop pc from dell.I created an Windows 7 image using Dell pre-installed Win7.I have used this image to clone 14 pieces of the dektops and there was no issue. However, the last one I encountered "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine" when I powered on the machine. I don't even have any chance to login to windows to activate it by using its OEM Product Key. Please the screenshot as attached.
I just bought my whole new build. Including motherboard, ram, cpu. You can check the specs in my spec list. This is the first time I builded a pc, so anything is possible. I try to boot the new pc, the fans just starts and go off. Like the whole computer turns on then off, happens in like 1 sec. The motherboard is P8 Z68-V Pro.
However, the time has come to undertake some upgrades to bring the rest of the system up to speed with my SSD and as such I have ordered a new motherboard, CPU, RAM and graphics card. The SDD (a OCZ Vertex 2) with my OS already installed on it (Win 7 x64) will be joining these new parts but I would be grateful for some advice on what the best way is to migrate this drive over to the new machine? I've only ever dealt with new blank drives and fresh installs. Is it at all possible to transfer the SSD over without needing to reinstall the OS - being mindful of trying to limit the amount of writes I make to the SSD.Obviously the first thing that comes to mind is that there might be issues with drivers, configurations, etc. for other components in my existing machine, any way to remove all these and reset the OS to scratch? Or am I best formatting the drive (SSD wipe tool thing?) and reinstalling the OS from scratch? If so should I format the SSD inside my current machine or can I do it afterwards, once installed inside my new machine?
The wireless adapter does NOT appear in ipconfig! but Ethernet does.Ethernet works properly.Unable to rollback/system restore as all deleted (don't know how or why). There is no wireless connectivity and with a USB wireless adapter the same problem. Hardware installs and says working OK, but unable to connect to wireless also.
Ipconfig is:

I've just finished my first build ever, up till now it's gone really smoothly. The only problem I have is when trying to boot the OS. Basically I downloaded the windows 7 ISO file through my University (which is currently 300 miles away and closed so I can't ask for discs) and burnt it to a DVD. When I try to boot off of the DVD I get to the "Insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" screen, but when I insert the DVD and press a nothing happens. Well not quite nothing, it skips to the next line and repeats the previous message again as if there's nothing in the drive. So far I've checked all the boot orders, RAID status and checked whether the drive is properly connected by inserting the support DVD for my mobo. I don't have, sadly, a USB stick with a high enough capacity, nor an external HDD to connect instead. I can't use my previous HDD from my old computer as it's an iMac.
I just finished building my new PC and have an odd question. I installed Windows 7 64bit Home Premium and the system boots just fine. However, when I click on "Computer" in the start menu, W7 is only seeing my SSD and not my HDD.When I started installing W7, I was asked by the installation program on which drive I would like to install. I chose my SSD. Installation went smoothly yet it does not see that 2nd HDD. Interestingly, when I click on device manager, the 2nd HDD is listed and appears to be "working properly".
Both the drives are connected via SATA cables. The SSD is in a 3gb/s "SATA 0" slot, the HDD is in "SATA 1" and the optical drive is in "SATA 2".Within the BIOS, under "Configuration" --> SATA drive:
Chipset SATA is enabled Chipset SATA mode is AHCI SATA ports 0 / 1 / 2 not installed (?) SATA port 3 - optical drive SATA port 4 Samsung HDD SATA port 5 SSD
No SATA Hot Plug Capability is enabled. The Secondary SATA is enabled in IDE mode. What am I missing here? Do I have something plugged into the wrong SATA port? Why would it be seen in device manager and in the BIOS yet not seen when I look at "My Computer"?
So far I am getting windows 7 professional and microsoft office home and business. I am not sure what to get as far as protection. I know there is virus, malware, spyware. Other than the virus protection, I do not even know what malware and spyware are or mean. Also, I don't know if there is anything else to protect against.I would need a complete list as I am clueless .lol. I just want my system FULLY protected is all. My hardware costs are around $2000. So I would like to keep cost down but I am not willing to sacrifice protection just to save some money. If I have to spend ,I will definitely pay what I need to, to be sure I am covered.
This is my first build and with the process of part shopping figuring out what I wanted I never though of the OS. I have a PC with a 500gb hard drive running windows but when I bought this PC I didn't get a disk. Is there any way to copy windows to my new 1tb hard drive. If not is there a way to take my current 500gb out and put it in my new PC then somehow transfer windows to the 1tb hard drive. I have always got prebuilt computers so I have never had to worry about an OS and I guess I made a big rookie mistake not leaving any room in my budget for a $100+ OS..Whoops AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor FD8350FRHKBOX COOLER MASTER R4-S2S-124K-GP 120mm Case Fan 4 in 1 pack BIOSTAR TA990FXE AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS SAMSUNG DVD Burner SATA Model SH-224BB - OEM PowerColor PCS+ AX7870 2GBD5-2DHPPV3E Radeon HD 7870 MYST.
