What exactly is overclocking? In a nutshell, the term is used to describe running a component at a higher speed than its specification in an attempt to increase performance. Various computer components can be overclocked, including the processor, memory, and graphics card. And the degree of overclocking can include anything from simply procuring small gains from an inexpensive component all the way to seeking a level of performance way beyond what could even be purchased at that point in time.

Oct 22, 2012I've Googled and seen a couple of topics, but no comprehensive answer. Is it possible to modify Aero theme library or a registry setting to decrease the space between tray icons? Or any other resource? It's definitely possible, setting exists somewhere, but I expect nobody may know where exactly.

i cannot install my microsoft lifecam vx-3000 driver software on it....
i have tried to download it of the microsoft website. but it would not download for me. i do not have the disk that came with the cam, because i got the cam with a monitor that i won used on ebay... so i am either asking for an alternitive download for the driver software, or for an alternitive way to install the software.
the windows 7 machine is not currently hooked up to the internet, but it will be by the end of the week for sure... so, any suggestions?

Oct 25, 2012i am a new comer of laptop world.do u have any suggestion for increasing the battery life of my lappy?i run my lappy maximum when there is power nd never use more than 1 hour on battery as power came instantly.so my battery was always full n showing not charging.is it good to run lyk that or i have to discharge the battery fully nd after that again recharge it??

Oct 25, 2009I recently upgraded my HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop (dv6815nr to be exact) from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium and I can't say for sure but I believe my laptop's battery is working a bit better and longer.
At first, I thought it drained quicker than when Vista was installed but I think I was just speculating, especially since I hadn't had a good night's rest in a few days.
I'm very curious as to whether any laptop users, who have switched from Vista straight to the official release of Win 7, have noticed an improvement in battery life/performance?

When I had windows vista home installed I could run this laptop on "power-saver" mode for 3+ hours, when I bought it a year ago maybe 4 hrs on power-saver mode. At this setting I have the laptop on the lowest brightness level.
Now with Windows 7 installed my battery lasts about 1.5 hrs on powersaver mode with the brightness turned all the way down. Its been 45 minutes now and it is at 52%.
Is there some kind of Fujitsu battery power software I need to correct this ?

Oct 6, 2012I am having a problem with my Acer aspire s3 ultrabook (i7 2637 4GB ram running windows 7 home premium 64 bit).The fan is on all the time, really loud and noisy, and the laptop is usually heating up too rapidly, and the battery life is less than 1 hour on power saving mode!! I don't know how it became this way, but I think that I once downloaded the windows 8 preview, installed it, but nothing happened, and I could not detect it on the control panel or in my hard-drive, it just disappeared, and my laptop has not been well eversince. I am not sure If I want to restore it or if I have a restoration point before the problem, but I have important software I do not want to lose.

Jun 14, 2011Will I actually gain anything out of overclocking an AMD 5770? What's the easiest, most trouble-free way of doing it? I'm thinking AMD overdrive in CCC and letting it automatically detect my settings.
Not sure if it helps but I can turn my fans on my case (Antec 900) up high, if that may help with heat. I've also overclocked my CPU from 3.0ghz --> 3.4ghz and it runs fine so far.

Before getting time, I've tried some overclock but it never showed in windows but right after I got them, I pushed the FSB to 266( running E5200 2.5ghz) to try to match the rams speed. My question is: Is there a reason why windows only shows it when my FSB is at 266, otherwise at 240, it doesn't show but only in CPU-Z.

Heres some of my specs:
Dual GeForce GTS 450s I also have SLI for the 2 cards (are there very expensive SLI bridges that can boost my performance?) 16GBs of Ram (4x8gb) Asus Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard Intel i7 CPU 3.6GHz And 2 Shitty Hard Drives (1 around 350gb and 2nd around 120gb) I have about a 900Watt powersupply that handles crap fine, The Hard drives are both old and slow, im not sure if they are bringing my performance down
So one day, i decided to do some overclocking, i started up the BIOS and i overclocked shit to the max, but then i clicked save and exit and my PC was basicly like this:
I push power button: PC turns on for 20 secs, then turns off i wait about 4 secs and PC starts again, i wait another 15-20 secs and PC turns off again, i wait and nothing happens, The if i push power button again it all repeats,
Basicly after Overclocking my PC doesn't Start, My problem isn't the PC not starting because i can fix that with a awesome reset button on my motherboard,
What i want is to be able to do Overclocking without having my PC restart itself and not manage to stay on for half a minute
NOTE: I reset my motherboard and went into BIOS again, and i had everything on default which works fine, and then i set a few things higher, nothing much, just things that would add a very small amount to my FPS, but still the PC decides not to work!
NOTE: I still had this problem back when i had a single graphics card and about 4gbs of ram,
