Half Life Remake Black Mesa Now Available For Free Download?
Sep 19, 2012
When people think of great first-person shooters they typically recall Doom and Unreal Tournament. Not me, though; I think back to the game that really started it for me, the one that did single-player right. Half-Life. Published by Valve Software in 1998, the original Half-Life was a journey through an apocalyptic experience at the Black Mesa labs in New Mexico as seen through the eyes of a brave but silent hero, Gordon Freeman. Now, 14 years later, a team of modders have released Black Mesa, a recreation of that seminal experience with Valve's Source engine. It looks marvelous.
Today i booted up my computor and some updates were automatically done and then i had to restart. when i began working on my project again the function of assigning one pane to one side and the other half of the window. i am running a sony vaio and originally it had a thing at the top of the desktop screen, a toolbar i think.

I have a HP Pavilion laptop and when I hover over the battery icon it tells me the percentage of battery left but I was wondering if their was a way to get it to show me how much time I have left? I have seen other pc's with Windows 7 have this and I was wondering if mine can do this also.
I recently bought an acer aspire 5000 laptop on craigslist to replace my macbook that was stolen from the coffee shop... looked for another macbook but couldn't find any reasonably priced so decided to give windows 7 a try. it has windows 7 professional installed. 1.8 amd turion 64 processor and 2 gb ram. it needed a battery so i got a new one thru amazon. installed the new battery, charged it until indicator turned green. my question is is 2 2 hours and 10 minutes reasonable battery life or do i need to calibrate the battery monitor? new battery has been installed for almost 2 weeks. my macbook got almost 4 hours on a charge...
I recently upgraded my HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop (dv6815nr to be exact) from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium and I can't say for sure but I believe my laptop's battery is working a bit better and longer.
At first, I thought it drained quicker than when Vista was installed but I think I was just speculating, especially since I hadn't had a good night's rest in a few days.
I'm very curious as to whether any laptop users, who have switched from Vista straight to the official release of Win 7, have noticed an improvement in battery life/performance?
My brother just bought a Toshiba NB500, its a Notebook running in Windows 7 Starter. And he saw a website that says that the battery capacity can be more or less 8hrs. Then he wants to customize his settings to make it. He already put to the lowest possible level the brightness settings. but it only takes 3hrs. what would be the best possible solution to this? are there still settings that have to be changed?
I've been using windows 7 for about a week on my Fujitsu A-6110 laptop.
Windows 7 (7057 32bit)
Fujitsu A-6110
Core-2-du0 1.5 GHZ
2.5 GB Ram
When I had windows vista home installed I could run this laptop on "power-saver" mode for 3+ hours, when I bought it a year ago maybe 4 hrs on power-saver mode. At this setting I have the laptop on the lowest brightness level.
Now with Windows 7 installed my battery lasts about 1.5 hrs on powersaver mode with the brightness turned all the way down. Its been 45 minutes now and it is at 52%.
Is there some kind of Fujitsu battery power software I need to correct this ?
I am having a problem with my Acer aspire s3 ultrabook (i7 2637 4GB ram running windows 7 home premium 64 bit). The fan is on all the time, really loud and noisy, and the laptop is usually heating up too rapidly, and the battery life is less than 1 hour on power saving mode!! I don't know how it became this way, but I think that I once downloaded the windows 8 preview, installed it, but nothing happened, and I could not detect it on the control panel or in my hard-drive, it just disappeared, and my laptop has not been well eversince. I am not sure If I want to restore it or if I have a restoration point before the problem, but I have important software I do not want to lose.
Just recently something has happened to change things like "one" to "Half-Two"; "there" to "Thor"; "mathematics" to "spelling"; and "Yours" to "Y'all's" or "you're" to "Y'all're". This happens on IE and Firefox and even happens the URL when I attempt to go to a mathematics website. The only thing I have done that I can think of that might possibly be involved is I downloaded jsMath v3.6 (Tex fonts) but I removed that and the problem is still there.
I have performance problems. Even though I have 4GB RAM installed physically, my hard disk runs like crazy. A moment ago, I encountered the system report below, which says that only 2GB of my RAM is usable.
For some unkown reason half my memory is no longer working i have 8gb of ram on my computer yet it says only 4gb is available and if i go onto resource moniter it says that half of my memory is reserved for hardware? also im not great at computer.
I downloaded an old game that I wanted to play again it finished downloading I installed it. Though it didn't install in the folder I wanted it to so I uninstalled it and started the installation again. Went through the process and put in the correct pathing D: program files (x86) it selected and smart highlighted program files x86 for me so i hit enter and the installer thought I was finished with the pathing when I was not and it went ahead and installed the game to that path.So once again I uninstalled the game and this time ... it uninstalled everything within "Program Files (x86) from A to L before I realized what was happening .. I quickly ctrl shift esc'd and canceled that process for the uninstaller and now alot of items are missing so many I don't even know what is gone.Unfortunately I do not enable system restore on any of my drives because I know malware can hide in there and some people recommend to keep it off.is there any way without using system
I am having an issue getting my microphone working. I used to have the logitech USB mic about a year ago and that worked great, then one day it stopped working. I tried fixing it for a while but couldn't figure it out, so I gave up on it. The mic was not the problem because it worked perfectly fine on other computers. Recently a came across another brand USB mic so I decided I would give that a try also, this just doesn't work either. The problem is that when I plug it in, it recognizes and installs the drivers (USB Audio Device). When I go into recording on sound options, it shows the mic there as the default device. Now when I click it, the levels tab is just blank. Also I cannot make any changes to the microphone such as "Listen to this device" etc, none of the options will stick. If I go into windows sound recording for example, it will tell me "An audio recording device cannot be found". To troubleshoot this issue, I uninstalled the USB port it is plugged into, tried it again. I tried this with multiple ports front and back. I then tried uninstalling USB Audio Device drivers, then when I plug the mic in, it installs everything again. It does it all successfully, no errors, but then it doesn't give me a working mic.I made a video demonstrating the problem.
I'm having a problem with my Desktop icons. All standard Windows 7 icons are completely visible, but after I install any software, new icons are only half visible.
Just upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows XP. Got everything set up and turned on. On bottom of desk top screen, are 4 icons start, ie, windows explorer, & windows media player. But only half of the icons can be seen, the other half disappears. Would like to see all of these 4 icons in full. Can't figure out how to fix it.Talked to 4 different people at Geek Squad phone tech support, none of them knows how to fix it.
I came home and set up a dual monitor for my computer, mainly so I can still do things on the 2nd monitor whilst playing a game. Half way through trying to figure out how I could get things where I wanted them my left ALT key decided to stop allowing me to alt+tab. If I hold it down it gives me the little window that allows me to switch between my programs, but it won't actually go to them it just stays stuck on that selector. Makes no sense to me due to if the ALT key was dead I wouldn't be able to get half way through alt+tabbing correct?Anyways, it also stopped working as my push-to-talk on my Teamspeak 3 Client. Again, thought maybe the key was bad BUT it still works as a push-to-talk on my Mumble client.
