View 4 Replies View RelatedIntel shows off liquid cooler, DX79SI motherboard for Sandy Bridge-E processors
Quote: Its been rumored that Intel would offer a liquid-cooling solution instead of a stock cooler with its new Sandy Bridge-E extreme processors, and multiple enthusiast sites have indeed snapped photos of the new cooler on the IDF exhibition floor.
From the photos, we can determine that the RTS2011LC cooler has been created in conjunction with Asetek, which had previously announced it was working on a Sandy Bridge-E liquid-cooling solution. According to Legit Reviews, Intel reps said its similar to the Corsair Hydro H70 kit that Asetek designed, but that parts were updated, including a 120mm fan. The fan even includes blue LED lights. While designed with the LGA2011 socket, it will also work with Intels 1155, 1156, and 1366 sockets. Source
Quote: The X79 Express chipset is the successor to the X58 and will be paired to Intels upcoming LGA2011 socket for next-gen processors. The motherboard seen here is the Intel DX79SI, obviously based on the chipset. As its name suggest, the RTS2011LC liquid-cooling solution is also designed for said socket.
so the title states everything, basically, when i boot the computer or log on, when i dxdiag, on directdraw acceleration and AGP Texture acceleration states its enabled.a couple games from warcraft 3 playing a game called DOTA, when i alt+tab a couple times to, firefox, or music player then back to warcraft 3, it works perfectly for lets say. maybe 3-4 games then when i alt+tab sometimes, and alt+tab back to warcraft 3, it just stays a blank black screen but doesnt crack, just the game does.then i go back to dxdiag, it now states that directdraw acceleration and AGP Texture acceleration is now Not Available.i dont understand, i never had this problem with XP. please someone help or point me to the right direction. ive been at it since 2am this morning and now its almost 11am. been searching everywhere and no luck.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just finished building a new computer last week. It runs very well, and it scored a 7.8 out of 7.9 overall on the Windows User Experience Rating. The problem I am having is that I had to reinstall windows (I messed up the first installation) and now when I try to run the assessment again it always crashes on "Direct3D 10 Texture Load Assessment."
I have all the latest drivers and DirectX 11 installed. Any idea why it would do this when it did not on my previous Windows installation?
My i7 990X is currently at 4.65 GHz. I was using MSI afterburner to overclock my GPU, but I confirmed that it is not the problem. Full computer specs in my profile.
Under computer I go to my drive of folders. When I click new folder either by right clicking or by hitting new folder the system then creates 2 or 3 new folders at one time. I then have to go back and delete the extra folders. At first I did not mind because it only happened once or twice and now it is every time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been having DPC latency problems lately. It seems as if the latency ONLY spikes when using the internet. That's it. I play music in the Media Player; latency is fine, sound is fine. I play Halo and the sound is fine. I don't get it. Does the internet effect the latency? It only spikes when I'm watching a video or listening to music while online.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got Mass Effect for christmas and was going to use it on my Windows 7 laptop. I got it installed, but when I go to play and it checks the configuration, it brings up a small box that says "Mass Effect has stopped working". I've tried running it as the admin, but tha doesn't work either.
I saw on a similar problem board that someone told them to check to see if they had ME1 PC patches installed...but I have no idea what that means, or how to get the patches to install them.
I keep looking for help, but these people are all people wh KNOW what they're doing. They're talking about OH it's the UAC or the DSP or the ABC or whatever. Well, those words don't mean a thing to me because it's all letters in my eyes. So if you help me,could you keep it simple?
I've been trying to modify the "folder picture" for a large number of folders, and to that end am going to write a script to modify the desktop.ini in each folder. The thing is, changing the desktop.ini doesn't seem to have any visible effect. If I manually change the picture (folder properties->Customize->Choose File) the new picture is used, and the desktop.ini is created or modified. However,if I open the desktop.ini in notepad, and make the same change there i.e. adding the line
Logo=C:Path To Filefile.png
to the [ViewState] section, there is absolutely no discernible effect. I've tried restarting explorer.exe, deleting the thumbs.db files, even restarting windows, but the changes are never picked up. Win7 seems determined to ignore any changes to desktop.ini it didn't make itself.

What caused the problem: Thursday I had my hard drives replaced, and had to reinstall windows. I have basically the same problem as the OP in Windows 7 Aero/glass color not working, was working before this thread
What I've done:- I ran the aero troubleshooter, came back with no issues.
I've recently encountered a strange thing while playing ME3 on my Windows 7 laptop. I'm a big fan of the series and I've played 1 and 2 with no problems at all. However, there's an issue going with ALT+Tabbing. I know some games are not meant to work this way but that is a really strange case. I could minimize Mass Effect 1, the full window restoration would take some time though. I could also minimize ME2 and restore it in mere seconds. Mass Effect 3, I just can't restore it. It stays on the taskbar, I can click it endlessly but it won't come up. And right when I thought this is a one-game issue, I accidentally tried again and it worked. I could minimize/restore Mass Effect 3 in a couple seconds. But it only worked this one time.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using Windows 7 ultimate x64 since release day and it has always ran great. However, every now and then when i boot into windows the slow motion aero effect keeps being activated automatically, but when i restart, aero goes back to normal. It has never bothered me since it doesn't happen all the time. I was just wondering if this is a bug or can something interfere and cause it to be enabled?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just had a strange experience I don't know how to interpret. I got a used laptop that was distressed and would not boot. I pulled the 500GB SATA II drive and ran some tests on it, and was dismayed to find transfer rates of under 20MB/s. I ran CHKDSK on it, which produced no errors and did not change the performance. The drive passed all SMART and self-tests.So I put the drive back in its machine and began to try to repair the boot. That led to trying to do a factory recovery, but that also failed. Finally I decided to install Windows 7 afresh from a DVD, and as part of that I deleted the two existing installation partitions and let Windows create new ones. That went very smoothly, and after all the dust settled I ran some performance tests on the drive again. Now the drive was clocking somewhere in the 70MB/s range!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently reformatted my laptop and did the necessary steps in order to ensure everything was back on track. Unfortunately, yesterday when I tried to play Mass Effect 2 on Steam, my computer shut down without a BSOD or any other error message. I thought it might have been an overheating issue (I have never had an issue like this with my ASUS laptop, even while it was overclocked to the max through the ASUS utility). I figured it might be a one off, and decided to give it another go. Unfortunately, it happened again 20 minutes later as well.I was hoping someone can help me decipher the Event Viewer information and whatever else you may need, so I can fix the issue and beat Mass Effect 2 before the third one comes out.

I took my sister's 150GB HD and set her up with a dual boot with Windows 7 and XP. She now wants me to take Windows 7 off and just use XP for a while. If I use a 3rd party partitioning tool to remove the Windows 7 partition FROM WITHIN XP, will this screw up the boot manager? I think it should be fine. Just take out the partition and extend the XP partition into the free space and it should just boot to XP. Is this correct?
note that I have searched for a solution on this and I can only find reference to this issue when clicking a link within Outlook.
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Office: 2010 32-bit
Issue: When starting Outlook 2010 a pop-up appears stating the following."This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."I have gone through most of the recommended fixes for the link issue (ie Chrome / IE default and registry corrections for htmlfile reference) in the event that may be causing the issue. The only thing that is tied to Outlook so to speak is Sage ACT 2012 (add-in). ACT will run when running from start menu without any issue. There has been no apparent updates or changes to the computer (it was off over the weekend and all was working find on Friday).
