I've been using Windows 7 ultimate x64 since release day and it has always ran great. However, every now and then when i boot into windows the slow motion aero effect keeps being activated automatically, but when i restart, aero goes back to normal. It has never bothered me since it doesn't happen all the time. I was just wondering if this is a bug or can something interfere and cause it to be enabled?
Windows 7 home premium 64 Geforce GTX 560 296.10 drivers
What caused the problem: Thursday I had my hard drives replaced, and had to reinstall windows. I have basically the same problem as the OP in Windows 7 Aero/glass color not working, was working before this thread
What I've done:- I ran the aero troubleshooter, came back with no issues.
i just want to know why my system is not showing the aero effect and when i set a screensaver it shows your video card is not compatible... what should i do now to fix it...
I'm having an issue with the Windows 7 OS themes of my laptop. It's a HP DV4-2116la. When I open an application or software, no matter how big or small, Windows automatically switches to the basic (non aero) theme every time. This behaviour has never happened to me before. At the sistem performance options, Aero Peek is enabled. I haven't made any changes to my laptop, it's supposed to run smooth (it is optimized, no addware, no unnecessary background processes), and I don't have any software that stresses the computer.
I am currently looking a way to enable Aero in my machine. (as note, currently I am missing the Aero Glass, Aero Peek, and Aero Flip.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.
I have a dual-boot Windows 7/Vista Home Premium PC at home. NEVER use Vista anymore.
Can I buy an Upgrade Windows 7 and do an in-place upgrade of my Windows 7 system, or do I have do buy a new copy (full) and do a clean install over a freshly reformatted partition?
I recently tried to created a word document but as soon as I opened the window i got an error saying that microsoft office was not activated and that certain features were disabled. The activation window contained two options: activate over the phone or activated over the internet. Both options return with the same error saying my copy is not valid.I called Microsoft Support and they redirected me to omnitech support. the tech told me that I had downloaded malware and that he would be happy to fix my problem for 79.99. He would not actually tell me what was wrong.I know that my copy is genuine because i bought this computer from a friend and i saw him install windows 7 home premium.
I Need Some Sound Effect For Import to My Work. A Cute Sound, Countdown, Explotion.Like Diamond Dash On Facebook. Sorry I Don't Need Copy Sound But I Need A Similar
I had this theme working once. Somewhere along the line, Windows decided to activate aero again. I finally turned it off, but now it is using a default theme even though it says I am using the custom theme. Help/Troubleshooting is useless since it only helps you turn aero on.I tried downloading and installing a theme pack. It didnt work.
Is there anything that would cause all registry changes not to have any effect? The changes are saved and still there when the computer is restarted..but the changes never appear. It isn't complicated or anything - just WallpaperOriginX.
I've just bought a netbook with windows 7 starter edition its a HP mini 110-3500 which i was assured by the sales assistant has a good processor (intel Atom N550) anyway it seems to be quite slow respinding to commands i.e. opening up explorer etc. My first question is do all netbooks perform like this running windows starter and would upgrading the OS help performance?
I have read I can use Windows 7 Home Prem Upgrade to UPGRADE my RC7100.
I have read I can't use Windows 7 Home Prem Upgrade to UPGRADE my RC7100 and that I have to have RC7600 but I thought was a RTM build?
I am confused. Do I buy an UPGRADE or a RETAIL???
I'd really like one simple answer PLEASE to one simple question...CAN I BUY and use an UPGRADE H/Prem Windows 7 to do an inplace UPGRADE of a legally downloaded and activated RC7100? I take it if YES, I have to put in the ISO disc I originally burned as "proof" of originally installed OS?
Mods - I don't think this post is in violation of Posting General Rule #7, but I could be wrong. If so, correct me, teach me the error of my ways, but don't ban me. I kinda like it here.
Some background:
My wife bought an Asus laptop in either Aug or Sep '09. It came installed with 32-bit Vista and came with a free upgrade to Windows 7 - so that kinda gives a time frame. Of course, we wiped Vista from the machine and clean installed one of the later 64-bit Windows 7 builds and the wife was very happy (always a good thing) with the machine.
When Windows 7 was released, we did the paperwork (on-line) to get the upgrade disk from Asus. We finally received the package yesterday. It contained only the 32-bit version of Windows 7 (with a product key) and another disk of drivers for both 32-bit and 64-bit installations (good on them for that).
After reading on SevenForums that an upgrade product key would work on both 32-bit and 64-bit (but those accounts have all be related/using the disk set released and sold by MSFT), I was hoping this "rule" would hold for the product key we got with the Asus disk because the lappy has 4GB installed and I would like for the DW to be able to use all that. So, I grab a MSFT 64-bit Windows 7 upgrade disk and start the clean install figuring that if it doesn't activate all I've lost is a little time. Then install the drivers from the Asus driver disk (there were 5 components in the Device Manager wanting drivers). So far all is well. OK, time to see if it will activate. I had my son read off the product key groups while I keyed them in (my eyes aren't what they used to be) and pulled the trigger. Activation Failed! Hoping that I had miss-keyed, we did a quick review - yup, one character got keyed as a "W" when it should have been a "Y". Made the correction in the product key and ...... Success!!!
Just thought this might help someone else in the same situation - someone who received a 32-bit version but has access to a 64-bit disk.
On my laptop the F5 and F6 buttons only change the sound level of about 2% with the Fn button each time. I would much prefer it if each time I pressed it it would change by about 10%. Is there a way to change how much effect the buttons make.
I've been having DPC latency problems lately. It seems as if the latency ONLY spikes when using the internet. That's it. I play music in the Media Player; latency is fine, sound is fine. I play Halo and the sound is fine. I don't get it. Does the internet effect the latency? It only spikes when I'm watching a video or listening to music while online.
I wish some of you guys can help me here.Used genuine key to activate previously hacked Windows 7.System goes through authentication, "Genuine" logo. Everything fine until I reboot the system. The Product ID changes back to 00426-292-0000007-85528, and the system ask to be activated "today". I change the key again and everything is fine until next reboot.I've tried various methods including system restore, over the phone activation, etc. Same result. Just don't want to do the clean install again, too much stuff to re-install
Last night after some modem problems which may be coincidental Windows 7 PRO (OEM) suddenly de-activated. It now will not re-activate either by the normal method or by telephone. No hardware has been changed and to my knowledge no new software was installed although some of course may have been updated. I was simply attempting to browse the web. It came with a new build and has been fine since November 2011. Checking the error logs I find these related messages. Code: Genuine state set to non-genuine (0x00000000) for application Id 55c92734-d682-4d71-983e-d6ec3f16059f Code: Acquisition of genuine ticket failed, hr=0xC004C4A2) for template Id 66c92734-d682-4d71-983e-d6ec3f16059f I ran the MGADiag tool and it produced this.
The hurricane came and cut the power while the computer was on. power came back on after 3 days. i cut the computer on and it said that startup has failed. so the computer tired to do the auto fix. But then it failed and shut down. I cut the computer back on and i had a horrible long beep maybe a full second. then it sent to system restore because of a windows problem. i tried the restore but then that failed because a steam file. when that was finish its sent to log into computer. at this point i am confused because im on the computer when it say that start up has failed. i didn't know what esle to do so i just shut down the computer and cut it back on and the long beep was gone. it started up as normal. However under system it say that i have 8 days to activate windows.
I installed and activated my Windows 7 Ultimate OS but am still getting messages that there this is a pre release version and sometimes the system shuts down and restarts. However the Control Panel says that I am activated. So what gives? Is there a file left over on my external hard drives causing this?
I purchased the full version of Windows 7 Home premium for my new build in March.I bought the full version rather then the OEM so I wouldn't have to answer to Big Brother Bill if I ever wanted to upgrade my computer.Since I live in a remote area with internet access limited to ~ 1kB/sec dial up, I activated Windows by phone, then used WSUS Offline Update to install the updates that I downloaded at work.
Yesterday I got the message that my copy of Windows is not genuine.I've spent hours on the phone with MS tech support to no success. When I attempt to activate either by phone or online the required alphanumeric code is missing in the activation dialog. Is there no option left other than reformating the HD and starting all over?
constant sound of someone rowing a boat through water and a slide whistle-kind of like you mght hear in a video game.what could cause this?some type of malware, possibly.?
I have lost my activation key for windows 7 (fresh install) My question is rather then buying another copy of windows 7 could I just buy a windows 8 upgrade package instead?
Today i had this sudden blackout and obviously turned off my pc while it was on use. When the power went abck on and i turned on my pc it was asking me for a valdiation of my windows.
I went to the properties to check if it was true that my windows wasnt genuine just to find out the validation was there and wasnīt asking again for the serial.
I searched for a while diffrent fixes or st least what caused this. I canīt make windows update, canīt use backgrounds and when i try to open Window Activation Update just deosnīt let me.
I donīt have the serial or the window disk at least not in hand. It was already installed by the company who built up my pc.
