when you grab the my computer icon and drag it up to the top of the desktop and end up with a my computer menu that you can make auto disappear and what not. Well i liked this feature on vista and xp and i want to know how to get it back on windows 7, if it doesn't exist then i guess im going back to vista because that was a major feature for me.
I love the Windows 7 Start Menu, and its versitality astounds me at times, but the inability for the "Computer" menu to be completely expandable cripples quite a bit of my productivity...
This problem does not exist with the personal menu, which quite frankly I could care less about completely expanding.
In general, Windows 7 has seemed to abandon the concept of expanding menus which can actually make things much much quicker at least for me, but I have gotten a separate toolbar working in the taskbar, but this seems inconvenient coming from someone who has always used classic menus on the Start Menu.
Don't get me wrong, I am very GLAD that Windows 7 makes such improvements to the way the start menu functions and in general these improvements have greatly added to my efficiency, but this really cripples someone like me!
I just noticed in windows 7, the computer icon is not in start menu. It is on my desktop. How can I get it in the start menu on the right side with owner, documents, control panel, pictures ,music, etc..
I can not get my printer icon on yahoo toolbar so can not use the printer to print things from a site. I was told to click on the file menu, but don't have that, either.
I bought a 1TB WD HDD a week ago. I copied a bunch of movies in but when I got home and tried to watch the movies in my laptop, the drive is not showing under my computer. I went into computer management and under Disk Management I saw my passport under Disk 1, Disk 0 is showing as my Drive C. I tried to change the drive letter coz I was thinking that was the problem, but it will not allow me to change the drive letter.
I have Windows 7 on my computer. On the top of an internet screen I used to have the words "File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help". But for some reason I lost those words. How can I get that toolbar back?
I have just noticed an odd occurrence when i right click on Computer either on my desktop or the start menu & click Manage, it does nothing, just a timer circle for a sec and thats it. can run the Computer Management shortcut fine. I have had win 7 installed for a little while now and i know it was working fine up until yesterday.
I have seen others with the same or similar problem with running the manager from the computer context menus but the only answer iv seen is to do a repare install. There must be something better as how do i know it wont just happen again ? would any1 know what might have caused this? & if im really lucky how to fix it.
Normally I used to right click on Computer and Choose Manage and do what I needed to do. Now, in Windows 7 Prof x64, I get a message to "Register Context Menu Platinum" and it counts down from what ever number and then I go to the web site for this program..(http://www.contextmenu.net/register_...text_menu.html)
Any one else have this issue? of know of a fix? I can get around it if I go to:
control panel/administrative tools/computer Management.
I know that the full version can be achieved while holding the shift key, but is there way to bypass that and have the regular full sized menu by default?
I am running an Advent desktop PC and its stats are as follows; Intel Core i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz 8GB RAM Win 7 64 bit.The problem I am having is when ever i boot up the computer it shows the Advent logo-screen where I can access the boot menu etc but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor/underscore flashing in the top left... This screen stays for quite a while and I am not sure if it stops because of a key I have pressed or just because it has run its course but after it disappears the computer goes back to the logo-screen for a moment and proceeds to boot up as normal except slightly slower than usual. It is a relatively new computer and it has no problems running at all once the boot up is complete it is fast and as friendly as ever.
whenever I click on "Hibernate" from the start menu, my computer goes on standby. Also my computer usually has the uncanny ability to Hibernate when its battery gets critical. Now it just goes on standby, and I lose my work.
You can make your computer right click context menu look like the screenshot below. You can easily add or remove each menu item separately. Here's the link to the page that further describes this procedure and contains the link to download the .reg files you need to make the changes to the context menu.
Note: "Programs" is programs & features and "run cleanup on this system" is disk cleanup.
Okay, I'm not sure if this can be done as easily as I'm hoping. What I'm wanting to do is move already existing context menu items into a cascading context menu to organize and reduce clutter. For instance, I would have a cascading menu named "Scan with" and inside it would be avast! Internet Security and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.On a side note, does anyone know how to remove the following context menu items?Computer- Show on DesktopControl Panel- Show on DesktopImages- Set as desktopbackground- Print Rotate clockwise- Rotate counterclockwiseMusic/Videos- Add to Windows Media Player List
Just having a tidy up and "optimisation" session...was wondering how easy it would be to make a sub menu to put similar items in.
For example I have microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes context menu entries. How can I put them into one sub menu so they only take up one slot on the main context menu?
Just tonight after replacing my keyboard with a logitech G11, I tried to play Borderlands, but I have the strange menu bug. I cannot stay in any in game menu other then the skills menu for more then half a second. It always auto exits back to the game when I try.
I was having problems with my dell laptop, so I had to have a new hard drive installed. I just restored the computer, but now I can't find the menu I had before. When I first got the laptop there was a meu bar at the top middle of my screen allowing me to organize some of my programs. I'm pretty positive it was there when I first got and started my computer, but after the reinstall it's not there and I am unable to figure out how to get it back.
I have Windows 7. My computer keeps crashing I have written down the stop codes, which are all different each time Also keep getting nv7ddmKm.sys.I have scanned the computer with Kapersky and also malwarebytes but both scans are clean.I can be doing anything on the computer when it happens but mainly it is when i am using Adobe CS5 or uploading images onto my computer from Nikon software installed on the computer.
I am having a problem with Windows 7 Pro. My machine's slowest functions are waiting for ascreen to scroll, switching between different windows, and other "routine"operation commands. <div> I have run defrags, system optimizers, registry optimizer, removed temp files and cleaned the HDand other things, but the fact remains that my system slows when trying toexecute simple commands like "scroll!" (Have even adjusted scroll from the control panel options).<div> Am running with 2GB RAM, a slow 4500rpm HD of 250GB and anIntel Core 2 processor.
I have this weird thing going on in my laptop. On any program a drop down menu will appear and then starts scrolling down. It's like flashing cursor and not letting me type anything. It happens for all programs, whether I try to save a file or try to type a command in run. Even when I try to open a small sized notepad and try to scroll it down, it goes back up automatically and not coming to the end. Is there some kind of virus or an intruder/trojan hunter?Already tried running MS virus scanner. alkaparikh has chosen the best answer to his/her question.Click here to view the answer that was selected.
I'm having trouble with my start menu retaining Pinned items. They Pin/Unpin fine but disappear after restart or shut down. I'm getting nothing to identify what the problem might be
