View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to do that ? I knew it might be possible but I found some saying that if the ADSL modem is connected using LAN then it will not work.
So here's my setup:
PC A and PC B (Both using Windows 7 64)
> PC A got two LAN port (LAN C and D)
> PC B got one LAN port
Cross Over cable
ADSL Modem - Connected to PC A via LAN C
What I want to do is connect the crossover via my PC A's LAN C to PC B's LAN to share the internet connection. Is it possible ? I had managed to make the PC B joined my PC A in homegroup, which mean file sharing has no problem at all. I just doesn't know how to set the IP, DNS, gateway to make my PC B access my PC A internet. Any help ? Please let me know it is possible.
For the past half a year I have had my PC, I've always had some problems with my internet connection and Windows 7. I've always thought that it's a case of bad hardware and such but it's starting to look like it's Win7 that's giving me the finger.I've mainly been using a WLAN USB-interface and from the very beginning problems have been occurring. At first, the connection would be really unstable. It might stay up for 2 minutes or for a week. Rather annoying. I tracked down the problem and thought I had found a solution. Apple's Time Capsule has also a WLAN feature and it was Time Capsule's network I was using. I found out that Windows 7 and Time Capsule weren't all that compatible so I had to find another solution. Luckily enough, there's another WLAN in our household. It's much farther away than the other so I was afraid I might have some connection issues. And I did. The signal was weak at times and I just couldn't establish a connection. So, I moved my PC to another room and it started working properly. The distance from the router was cut down from maybe 8 meters to 2 meters or so.However, I couldn't keep my PC in that room forever and it seemed odd that when I moved the PC a few meters away from the router, the signal disappeared. So, that in mind, I went and took the USB-interface to the place I bought it from. I figured it was the interface because all the other of my devices connected to the Internet worked fine. The room is no Faraday cage. They still have the interface and I didn't get a replacement for the time being so I had to connect the PC to the Internet with a cable. At first, the MOBO wouldn't recognize the network. Then I rebooted and replugged all the cables and the ethernet LEDs started blinking. I was happy - I even checked that the lights indicated that there was data activity and that there was a 100 Mbps connection. But still - I oouldn't connect to the Internet. Windows 7 would only say that there're no connections available. I started realizing that it might be Win7. So I booted the PC up with Ubuntu since I have it on dual-boot and surprise, surprise - the Internet connection works perfectly. And here I am writing this post. The cable connection has worked with this PC before and it works now with other PCs, too.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this problem with my laptop. If i am using a cable to connect to the internet and then unplug it and switch to wireless connection, the internet connection gets unstable. The thing is it says it is connected to the right wireless connection AND it claims to have internet connection. - And i do - for a few minutes.. If i deactivate/activate the wireless internet i am able to surf around for a few minutes again, but then it does the same thing again - shows up as having internet connection but im unable to connect to it..Strangest thing is that i am sometimes able to connect to the internet ONLY if another computer is using the wireless internet too.. It still shows up as recieving a nice signal with internet access even though i cant connect to the internet.
The same problem also occurs sometimes when im switching from one wireless connection (at home etc) to another (work etc)..I've had this problem for a few months now.. Comming to think of it i might have had this problem ever since i got my laptop.. Rebooting my computer fixes it every time, but it's not a permanent solution.. Im running original Windows 7 Home Premium x64 which came with the laptop.. Also im not using static ip or anything like that - switching to static ip doesn't do the trick.. Running ipconfig /all command from cmd also shows me as connected to the right router.. The problem occurs every time i switch between cable and wireless and not only at my home or work but also at friends..I'm not sure if i need to leave any more details, if i've left anything out just let me know.
OS: Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on Laptop and PC (custom build).
Router: ASUS RT-N56U
Switch: D Link DES 1008e
Network Adapter PC: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Network Adapter Laptop: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
When either is plugged directly into the router, no ethernet cable is detected. If you run either the PC or laptop through the switch first, it works just fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed network drivers, I've uninstalled and deleted the adapters and software and started from scratch. I've checked all of the setting 3 times over.
My wireless connection only connects when the network cable is connected. If I unplug the RJ45, the wireless won't connect. This is so dumb.

When I'm inserting the HDMI cable to view my screen on the TV it automatically shows the video, but I have to manually change the default playback from "Speakers" (Realtek High Definition Audio) to "Realtek Digital Output" (Realtek High Definition Audio) so I could hear the audio from my TV and not from the computer.
Is there a way to make that switch automatically when I connect/disconnect the HDMI cable?

On my new Lenovo V570, I've been having an issue where it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes to connect to my local network. It will show all the available networks in the list, and either if I wait, or if I try to click my automatic network and click "connect", it still takes a large chunk of time. This happens on all of my saved connections, as well as any public connections I try to access.I believe my wireless is run through Intel My Wi-fi, though for some reason the icon is no longer in my icon tray.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn these occasions, while watching Hulu on my HTPC, which only connects via WiFi on my Router (Cisco E3000), the movies were interrupted by a loss of connection, indicated by the white tray icon turning orange, and when expanding it's menu, the connection bearing the name of my network had disappeared. On the first failure, the flashing light on the network adapter (Belkin F5D8055) continued flashing as usual, but the steady light was out, until pressing the connection button. The second time around, both light remained lit as normal, but in both instances my network connection on the network adapter's tray icon had disappeared. Using the WiFi's network adapter's connection button, and the router's PBC button didn't solve the problem, nor anything else that I tried.Since the WiFI connection is primarily for internet access, rather than connecting computers, and that shutting off my desktop doesn't usually effect the HTPC's internet connection, it seems obvious that the connection is managed by just the router, adapter and HTPC, so I fail to understand the relationship between the vanishing network and the loss of internet connection. When these failures occurred, they only lasted for ~ 10-15 minutes, and then were restored on their own, with no more apparent reason than the outage had. So far, this is only an annoyance, but I fear that it is an omen of greater problems on the horizon, and I have no idea of how to isolate the origin of the problem..

View 9 Replies View RelatedI know this is far less related to Windows 7 issues (completely unrelated :P), and more related to hardware and such, but anyway. I am on an absolutely pathetic internet connection of 20gb a month (Internet in New Zealand was monopolised by Telecom, and the industry went nowhere for years, our speeds are stupid and the prices would be considered unacceptable in many countries). Me and a friend do a lot of data sharing, and he also hosts a minecraft server, which uses a lot of internet. Luckily for me, he moved in 4 houses down from me. Our solution was going to be for me to connect to his wifi connection from my house, and just to be safe, from his end I would be restricted to his Lan network, but not internet data :P.However after fruitless attempts to make a home made yagi antenna from everything from a fly cover for a large dish to a kitchen wok, nothing worked and we ran short of ideas. Does anyone know of a cheap way we could accomplish this? We could buy a yagi antenna (for those of you that don't know thats like long range wifi antenna

With Windows XP all were working good, but now with Windows 7 after 30/60/xxxx minutes I'm connected i get "limited access - no internet connection". Windows recognized a DNS error, but it was unable to slove it. I'm solving this problem unplugging the WiFi key for 1 minute, and then re-plugging it. Doing this, the connection returns fine for another 30/60/90/xxxx minutes.
