View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so this is my problem; About two weeks ago my mother got to keep a laptop from work because she was moving schools and it was "outdated".It was on a school domain so it had her login from the schools. At the login page all i had to do was type "name.name" and the password and that was fine. She did not use the laptop anymore so she gave it to me.Even though she was a administrator i was getting sick of logining in as her all the time so i tried to create a new account. I want in to controle pannel and tried to make one but it came up with domain and user name. i tried to create a account but it was saying the rustrelationship with this domain and Lt-D-8JK12S. (the laptop) were denied.I went through another way to create a account through some workgroup thing , it worked. When i had to log on i would have to type Lt-D-8Qjk12Susername and password It only happened about two days ago that it started to have some problems.I could only log on to my account even though it had many different users in the laptops hard drive. it would say that i got my password wrong when i tried to type.the main problem is that i cant do anything because i am not an administrator and i kept being denied when trying making system changes and copy files on to a memory stick.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use an old XP app (JetToolbar - available at JetToolBar - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com) and do not want to change but I cant make it work on Windows 7. The application installs and starts up just fine but it is not possible to drag icons/programs/files to the toolbar - I just get the 'no entry' sign (Circle with line through)However, the application runs fine when logged on to the hidden Administrator account. If I set up the application in the hidden Admin account and then log on as a normal admin user and run it from that account, the icons I set up are just not visible. So what do I have to change in my normal user account (member of administrators) to make this drag and drop work?I have tried 'Run as administrator' but that made no difference. Ive read about dropping to 'Run as User' apps from 'Run as Admin' apps but that's not the problem (at least problem occurs when app is run as user or run as admin)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use my PC for audio production and I have a few external controller devices that are USB powered, for example a midi keyboard. I recently had to build PC due to a theft....long story short after building the new PC I've noticed that my USB buses have continual power to these external devices after I've powered down the PC. My old windows 7 PC did not do this. Is there a setting I can change to shut off power to the USB buses when I power off the PC? Or is this a hardware issue?

I enabled the power administrator ( i hope that's the right term) and the cam coder was recognized instantly.

My New Laptop doesn't have two users only one..and that user is me.. I don't have administrative rights so therefore I can't create an administrator..to do simple tasks such as delete a program,, or open up msconfig.. These functions need administrative rights. How do I get these?
View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently I deleted an account that seemed to be automatic with Windows 7. It was not one that myself or my husband set up, but on that seemed to be administrator-type. I don't recall if it required a password. Anyway, I had no idea what it was for so I deleted it. Since then, I have noticed that windows is not working as well and I have a lot of issues with different webpages (even popular ones like Google & Facebook).Any idea what it was and how to get it back

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently unable to delete my old Administrator user account on my Win 7 PC. I log onto my new Admin account and go to the Control Panel and then to add or remove user accounts. I select the old account select delete, and then confirm. It does not let me do this. However, oddly there is no error message, it just sends me back to the page I was on previously and the account is still there. I also cannot demote it to a standard user account.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Professional x64. There are three user accounts: Daddy - Administrator...this is my account; Child - Standard User; and Visitor - Standard User. (These are not the accounts' real names.)
I really should be a Standard User for day-to-day computing. There are two ways I could go about doing this, and my question is: Which way is better? Daddy will continue to be an Administrator. I will create a new Standard User account for myself. Daddy will transfer all my documents, pictures, music, etc. to my new user account; or I will create a new Administrator account and then demote Daddy to a Standard User. Are there particular pros and cons to these methods, or does it not really matter?
One thing I wonder about is that I have used the Daddy account to install certain software 'for this user only' (i.e., Daddy) . I did this for software that needs Administrator permissions and rights, such as my antivirus software. Will a new Administrator account automatically have this software installed, or will it have to re-install this software?
I just found out about the hidden Administrator account in 7, herp derp. I hate UAC prompts and I want to use the account. How can I migrate everything from my old user account to Administrator while not breaking any program dependencies or anything like that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I can no longer edit user account information. The following options do not work:
Add or Remove User Accounts
Create an Administrator Account
Create an Account
Create Standard User Account
Turn Guest Account On / Off
All the options appear, it's just when I click on them nothing happens?! I'm logged in as Administrator, I even unlocked the hidden Administrator account and am still running into the same issues. As far as answers go all I can find is the typical, "do a system restore", "reinstall Windows", crap like that. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been given a laptop to try and sort out. For some unknown reason the user account has changed from an administrator to a guest account. Tried logging on through safe mode but nobody knew the administrator password. I cleared the password and gained access to the system via safe mode. When trying to access the system via admin normally the admin account was not activated.
So safe mode again and reactivated it finally got into the system in normal mode but now the user that was guest that i want to make admin again con not be found. If i go looking in the users folder there user name and folder is there. If I try to create a new user with the same user name the system will not let me. I need to get it back. How to achieve this?
I've noticed that when I unhide the hidden files and system programs and I look at the explorer User list there are more accounts then normal. Particularly there is a Default User Account with a lock icon which I can not access. I am running under a quasi-administrative account. Should I have access
