Hidden User Accounts That Are Not Accessable By The Administrator?
Feb 24, 2012
I've noticed that when I unhide the hidden files and system programs and I look at the explorer User list there are more accounts then normal. Particularly there is a Default User Account with a lock icon which I can not access. I am running under a quasi-administrative account. Should I have access
I use an old XP app (JetToolbar - available at JetToolBar - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com) and do not want to change but I cant make it work on Windows 7. The application installs and starts up just fine but it is not possible to drag icons/programs/files to the toolbar - I just get the 'no entry' sign (Circle with line through)However, the application runs fine when logged on to the hidden Administrator account. If I set up the application in the hidden Admin account and then log on as a normal admin user and run it from that account, the icons I set up are just not visible. So what do I have to change in my normal user account (member of administrators) to make this drag and drop work?I have tried 'Run as administrator' but that made no difference. Ive read about dropping to 'Run as User' apps from 'Run as Admin' apps but that's not the problem (at least problem occurs when app is run as user or run as admin)
Recently I deleted an account that seemed to be automatic with Windows 7. It was not one that myself or my husband set up, but on that seemed to be administrator-type. I don't recall if it required a password. Anyway, I had no idea what it was for so I deleted it. Since then, I have noticed that windows is not working as well and I have a lot of issues with different webpages (even popular ones like Google & Facebook).Any idea what it was and how to get it back
Okay so this is my problem; About two weeks ago my mother got to keep a laptop from work because she was moving schools and it was "outdated".It was on a school domain so it had her login from the schools. At the login page all i had to do was type "name.name" and the password and that was fine. She did not use the laptop anymore so she gave it to me.Even though she was a administrator i was getting sick of logining in as her all the time so i tried to create a new account. I want in to controle pannel and tried to make one but it came up with domain and user name. i tried to create a account but it was saying the rustrelationship with this domain and Lt-D-8JK12S. (the laptop) were denied.I went through another way to create a account through some workgroup thing , it worked. When i had to log on i would have to type Lt-D-8Qjk12Susername and password It only happened about two days ago that it started to have some problems.I could only log on to my account even though it had many different users in the laptops hard drive. it would say that i got my password wrong when i tried to type.the main problem is that i cant do anything because i am not an administrator and i kept being denied when trying making system changes and copy files on to a memory stick.
For some reason I can no longer edit user account information. The following options do not work:
Add or Remove User Accounts Create an Administrator Account Create an Account Create Standard User Account Turn Guest Account On / Off
All the options appear, it's just when I click on them nothing happens?! I'm logged in as Administrator, I even unlocked the hidden Administrator account and am still running into the same issues. As far as answers go all I can find is the typical, "do a system restore", "reinstall Windows", crap like that. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
could any one plz let me know the procedure to restore the deleted user accounts created with admin rights?I could not be able to connect to Internet or create new account with Admin rights or change the current user rights to Admin.
for ACER 5740 G WIN 7 home premiumi enabled the administrator in WIN 7 Home Premium with a password and hide this for the log in. All other users are standard users. Now I am unable to login to the administrator log in opiton. How can I unhide the administrator log in. Since I did this I have administrator password.
I want to run a program as administrator in a local user account. My problem is, i have multiple user accounts in my windows7. I have bittorrent and many active torrents in my user account which have admin privileges. But for Other local users, bittorrent open in a separate account mode having no active torrents (because the torrent is running only in my user account)Is there any way to run (or sync) the downloading of bittorrent in the stated accounts.
I am a lab technician for Microsoft classes at a community college. One of our students somehow messed up his hard drive. The computer is running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit. The system has two administrator accounts and one standard user account. I am still able to logon with those accounts and there are SID keys for each of these users in the registry.
Now when we create a new user, the account is created without any problems. The user shows up on the logon page and after running the net user command, it shows up there as well. When I try to logon with the new user, I get a message: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
None of the new user accounts show up in the registry. The other anomaly that I see is that the Default User folder is missing in each of the Users subdirectory for the three accounts where I have no problems.
I have read the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 947215 and none of the methods apply to my problem. I also checked Local Group Policies and the Do not logon users with temporary profiles setting is not configured.
I've enabled the built-in Administrator account. However, I can no longer access my other account (which is also an Admin account). I even tried creating another account, which also cannot be accessed.Basically: upon login, I get the login screen, however there's only one account, which is the Administrator account. There is a 'switch user' button, which just shows the 'Other Users', which doesn't do anything: entering any account details only says 'invalid username or password'.The first account was created BEFORE I enabled the admin account; the user folder is still there. However, the new account I created has no user folder.
I need to login into a hidden administrator account on Windows 7. There are a few complications.
1) The built-in administrator account is hidden, and as described below, I cannot elevate my privileges. 2) I created an administrator account, called "Secure," but it's completely invisible! By using an unsupported (and stupid) registry tweak, I have hidden the "Secure" account from view, such that even in UAC prompts, the "Secure" account isn't visible and I am unable to elevate my privileges. This means that I cannot get beyond any UAC prompt.
How can I either login or elevate to the hidden, built-in "Administrator" account or to the "Secure" administrator account that I created and then obscured through an unsupported registry hack? Note that I cannot undo my changes to the registry that obscured the "Secure" account because I can't run regedit with the necessary privileges. Note that due to my unsupported registry hacking, the "Secure" account does not appear on the login screen that displays at startup. I cannot login to the "Secure" account by selecting "Switch User."
I cannot find any way to access a Username/Password login prompt anywhere in Windows 7. I could login to the "Secure" account, if only I could access a username/password login prompt. I know the password for the "Secure" account -- I created it, after all! I cannot run a command prompt with administrator privileges. I even booted into Safe Mode, but that does not give me the option to login to the "Secure" account, either!
To get a prompt that includes a username and password field from within Windows 7 -- even in a Standard (non-Administrator) account follow these steps. 1. While holding down the Shift key, right-click the program you want to run. 2. Select "Run as a different user." 3. Type the username and password of the account.
This will not work for disabled user accounts, like the built-in Administrator account. To use the built-in Administrator account, you first have to enable it. This does work for hidden (but still enabled) user accounts. This will allow you to run a program as though you were a different user.
I use hidden administrator profile in window 7. Yesterday I shutdown my system and when next morning I start my system my administration account was gone means there was administartor account but like fresh copy of new profile. All my file related to that profile is gone. Everything under user directory is gone documents, download every thing. And more worst everytime I login in to that account it show different wallpaper.
Don't have administrator access. Want to defrag and install new prograI am using a laptop with following sepc:ThinkPad lenovo laptop, T410iWindows 7 Professional 64bitThis laptop is companie's one and I am using at home.I don't haveadministrator access and neither I have the password for administratorCompany has defined a user account for me and I only can log on with it. I think these steps are for security reasons not to crash the laptop. Now that I want to defrag the computer, it asks me to login as administrator account.Or I want to install a new program and I can't. This is very annoying.
I have an admin account, but it's the only account for my computer. I used to have plenty of old accounts, some of which were also admin accounts. When I decided to delete them, I chose to keep the files just in case. Now I realize I don't need them but it won't let me delete them.
When I boot my machine (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) I get to the user accounts log in screen where it attempts to auto login and fails. I click the little "ok" button and see two user accounts, myself (BlackViper) and "Other" with no picture, and a blank for the password.I have no password on my account, but when I click on the icon associated with my account, it asks for one. I can leave it blank and log in just fine.I then "log off" and see three user accounts at the log in screen (Administrator), (BlackViper), and (Anawvyah). At this point I can access any of the three, and they all work just fine and the correctly associated pictures are there...
I'm tired of my actions being blocked so I just want to leave the administrator account and delete the rest of them since I'm the only one on my pc. I can have only the admin account with these other accounts deleted without it causing any computer problems correct? I believe this is the case but I just want to make dang sure first.
A month or so ago I noticed I could not listen to Cartalk (A PBS radio show) online when I always could before. Tried to troubleshoot. Reset IE8 and still no joy. It works just fine with Google Chrome so I know it is related to IE8.
Just created a new account (standard vs. my admin) and of course I can listen just fine on that account. Again tried to troubleshoot. Looked at add-ons. Made them identical, still no joy. Once again completely reset IE8 and still nothing.
So why would the website work just fine with the standard account and not my admin account? This is driving me crazy. I know I can use the standard account or chrombut I really want to know why this is happening.
not all my user accounts are showing it shows the user account of the last person that logged in and then it shows other user then when i click on it i have to type my user name and password in i dont want other users to show up just all the accounts
when i boot up i go straight into windows i dont have no user accounts to login too, but this am i booted up my laptop and was faced with 3 user accounts ? _admin ime_user and the account i created shut the ?uck up both admin and user wont let me login says wrong pasword and my account has no password so that lets me login so where did the admin and user accounts come from and why are they showing up now ?
I have a laptop with Win 7 Home Premium, and one user account with administrative rights. Now, I would like to add two standard user accounts. How would I do that?I have experimented with copying over User files and folders, but I have really no idea what I should copy, if anything at all.
I'm having problems with creating new user accounts, admin or otherwise. Login works fine, but icons are all generic and windows explorer turns up the "page failed to load" error. In contrast, my regular admin acct works perfectly. I noticed this after a hard shutdown but am unsure there is a connection. I performed a system restore from an earlier restore point from before the unsafe shutdown but no luck.
I want to merge my account into the main administrator account. The main Admin account is basically untouched and can be overwritten in the case of any conflicts. My current account is also an Administrator account. I'm trying to move it to the main one to be able to bypass the login screen. I can not delete the other Admin account because it is the main one and does not have the "delete account" option (however the Admin account I use and have all my files on does have the "delete account" option)
I don't share my notebook with anyone, so I'd like to consolidate my user accounts, if practical:Administrator Admin Chuck "Chuck" is the only one I use and AFAIK has all the admin rights as the default, but could be wrong.
How do I setup remote login that would allow 3 or 4 people to login to the same computer. Each person would have their own Windows User Account name, with different privileges.I don't know what software could do this. Could I please have some recommendations? The computer being connected to would be Windows 7, and there is no special network equipment besides a consumer router. This is a very small business and keeping costs under control is important

My computer suddenly tells me it can't open my pictures on one of my user accounts by asking what file do I want to use to open it or to go online to search for an opening file. I tried to start a new user account, and I'm told I need to tell what file I want to use to complete and open this account.
I can't login in Guest user. My administrator account is working properly and without any problems, but my guest account doesn't. When I login to that account then its automatically logging off and coming back to the login Screen.I created standard user, but anyway I can't login there. When I click the icon it automatically logs off.
I was trying to setup password and must have clicked on adminstrator rights and now I'm locked out and the area is greyed out the keys that say yes when i want to setup advanced user accounts setup.. IF I could at least get into restore i could set the pc back. but it says do you want to make following changed to computer but the yes is greyed out.
I have a laptop from my employer that I want to return as my contract is ending. However I am keen to ensure that I delete all my personal info as I also have work for another contract on it which is quite commercially sensitive (unfortunately I had a period when income would not allow me to have a second machine to keep everything separate). Naturally I have transferred everything I want to another machine and so that is safe.I have deleted everything I want to from the (dell) laptop, and used CC cleaner to wipe the free space, but I note that there is a file still left in one folder with a name that refers to the other company. If the first company sees that name they may think I have leaked info to a competitor and not want to offer me another contract later this year. I have tried all I can to delete the file but I get an error message saying it can't be located (0 bytes) which I assume is because I have already deleted it. I have tried logging off / on 10 times and tried to find the file but of course it is not actually there. I have two questions, how can I delete this ghost file, and / or how can I delete my User Account so that when I return the machine, nothing can be recovered? Of course because it's a company machine, although I have admin rights as I need to be able to install programmes etc; I may not have Full rights. I have tried to add another user so I can log on as that user to remove my existing account, but I get an error message about Trust accounts.
I was cleaning out my computer and deleting the inactive accounts, setting up the guest account, enabling parental controls, etc. When I was finished, I had two administrator accounts (mine and my mom's) and we were going to set up a guest account with parental controls. As I went to do this, I was prompted to set up a password for her account. I clicked "Add new password," but when I did this it password protected the account without me even adding a password? So I signed out of my account to go to my mom's side, but I couldn't access it because there was a password!! But really that password didn't exist, so I went back to my account to remove the "password." After signing out of my account once again, I was able to go into her account which had then turned into a temporary account (no clue how that happened). So I went to switch accounts but the only accounts visible in the Startup screen are her's (which is still a temporary account) and an account titled "Other User" which requires a username + a password -- mine is completely gone.So when I'm in my mom's (temporary) account I can still access the control panel and My Computer, which shows that the accounts do exist!! And so do all of their files!! So all I need to do is get them to show back up in the Startup menu?

I have been working on a friends computer, trying to clean it up a little. I am logged onto the administrator account that he had set up, but it also shows it as a guest account and I can't do anything with the other accounts. I am trying to delete some of the standard user accounts that he doesn't want on it anymore and I can't do anything with them. When I try to create a new user account it shows "The specified account name is not valid, because account names can not contain the following characters:/[]";:|<>+=,?* Please type a different name"
