Dec 22, 2010Is there a way to change MS Word file icons in Windows 7 x86. Since i know it has been possible on XP under view file options menu, and the same option is not available in 7?

Oct 15, 2011I use tags to keep things organized. I can edit and update the tags on Word 2003 files just fine. But when I try to edit and save them on the newer files I get the following error:I've checked ownership and permissions, they both appear to be set properly, and that gives a different error anyway.I've also noticed that the older Word 2003 files allow for a thumbnail icon of the document, but this doesn't work for 2007 even if the thumbnail box is checked. I can edit the document information inside Word of course, but that doesn't show up in Windows Explorer searches.

Nov 24, 2012I've got this folder. In this folder are 643 sub-folders. I want to change the icon of all of those folders quickly, because doing it manually would be horrible.
Each folder has to have it's own icon. Not all the same one.
Currently the .ico's are in a folder with all the exact same name as the folders they need to be matched with. (if I sort by name, they'll all be in the exact same order, if that helps anything)
example: Mainfolder/A/ needs to have icon "A.ico"
So I've been kinda searching around and it seems things like this can (or not) be done with a batch file, and the desktop.ini. Or something..

Feb 3, 2011There are strange icons when I am in Windows 7 with Office 2007. I first noticed this when I needed to do a project. Because of the lack of new software, I had to save the file in the doc file format. Then, when I tried to open it to edit it, I noticed that the file icon was not right. It was the blank file icon with the Word 2007 icon on it. Then, I noticed that the rtf files have the correct file icon for doc files. The files can still open, but the wrong icon drives me nuts!

When I open start menu, all my recent programs have again converted to word.When I have opened any of these a word document opens, a load of gobbildygook, as well as can not open in dos mode.I have managed to cercumnavigate word and excel, by opening one of my exixting files starting a new document and saving this to desktop, but can only do this with paint, word, and excel.

Oct 8, 2012sporadic (4 out of 10) issues with saving files. Opens file from the network (AD) drive adds data which takes about 10 min. then saves the file. The save appears to be successful then user closes file and gets file permissions erro Yes or No to save file to another location or change name. They save it to another location. The original file disappears from the network drive.

Jun 17, 2010This little thing has been annoying me since Win 7 came out and finally figured I'd ask if there is some hack to change it.On my task bar I have the following icons...Internet explorer | Windows Explorer | Windows Media Player | Google Chrome | Paintshop Pro x2When none of these programs are in the open state everything is fine, however when I open up Internet Explorer, it changes the normal small icon into the full blown Internet Explorer taskbar icon right in it's place, which means my task bar will often look like a bunch of long I.E. taskbar open icons, then the small icons for Windows explorer, mediaplayer, chrome and psp, followed by a bunch of other program icons that are open programs.This looks sloppy and non intuitive to me.What I would like to do is to keep all the small icons (like they were in quickbar) on the left, and any open programs to open as new full size icons on the right of all the small icons. So that I don't have a bunch of larger open program icons, followed by all the closed small icons, followed by any other open program icons.
