So, I was just wondering how I could get my laptop to connect to the network that is connect to my desktop that has win 7 installed on it. I'm trying to get the printer attached to it to talk with my mother's laptop that has win xp on it. Could someone please give me a pointer for that kind of connection?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm totally new to Windows 7, I've read through a lot of the threads here but can't fix the problem.
I have a network of two vista Pc's connected to a router, no problems. But I can't get my new windows 7 laptop to join the network. The laptop connects to the router and internet fine, but can't see either PC. The PC can see the laptop sometimes, but can't access it - when I click to open get a 0x80070035 error. And once I change a combination of settings the PC can't see it anymore.
I have also tried connecting just to the router, turning off firewalls but that doesn't work either. File sharing is on, on all computers.
Unsure what to try next?
I bought an HP envy 14 beats edition and i've been trying to connect to my home internet, and while it seems to be connecting to the network, it wont connect to the internet. Its running windows 7, and I tried all the repairs that it prompted me to try, but could not resolve the issue. I know it isn't a internet problem, because the desktop is working and an xbox that connect wirelessly with no problems. At school the laptop wont' connect either. I tried diagnosing my wireless hardware and connection everything passes except the ping test. What does that signify?

i've set the workgroup to be the same on both computers when i try to enter any of the computers (from the laptop to the PC or vice versa), i get the username / password screen there are no passwords on any of the users logged in to the windows and each system has only one user.
if i remember correctly, if both are on same workgroup, nothing else should be done in order to see shared folders.
I've read through these forums and tried to do everything I could to make it work but I cannot seem to get it connected. My XP network is an existing network and I am trying to add a windows 7 64 home edition machine. I can ping back and forth between all of the computers using IP and comp name. I can connect to the windows 7 machine from my XP machines but my XP machines do not show up on my windows 7 machine. They all have the same workgroup name. There is no software or firewall blocking them. I have all of the services running that I found in these forums and set them to automatic. I set my IPv4 to NetBIOS over TCP/IP. I don't know what else to do to make this work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought an Ipad 4. Got home switched it on so it would connect to my home network. The ipad comes up with full signal strength and then says "The network you have chosen is not providing an internet connection". I use my lap-top with this Wi-Fi connection and my daughter uses her Ipod with the Wi-Fi connection. Why can't we get the Ipad to connect. We went to the library and the Ipad works fine with their Wi-Fi. I assume it's something to do with my router but I'm not very tech savvy so I'm not sure what to start fiddling with.

I have gone through all of the google searchs and all of the posts on this forum without any luck. I have checked that my modem has port 3389 forwarded. I have confirmed that it's listening on that port. I have checked all the firewall settings, and even turned off the firewall and still can't connect.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA few hours ago I installed a Windows update, so my ACER Aspire 5733 restarted. I shut it down after the restart, not paying attention to the wireless. When I went to turn it back on, I couldn't get online because my home wireless connection has "Limited access."The icon signifying signal strength on the taskbar has a small yellow star-shaped dot on it. When I click on it, it pops up and says "Not connected. Connections are available. It then says my wireless network name and says "Limited access" next to it. The signal strength is excellent. When I disconnect and then reconnect it says the connection was unsuccessful because the computer has limited connectivity. The same network is working on my other laptop and on my iPod, but not on my Aspire 5733.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAll three of my computers at home (all on windows 7 ultimate 64bit) are connecting to the same router with same SSID, but they end up having duplicate names such as NetworkName 1, NetworkName 2, NetworkName 3. This is preventing me from having them share via homegroup. I made sure the computer names are all different and all connect to same workgroup name. Is this a router setting problem? i'm using a cisco-linksys wrt-160n flashed with DD-WRT. i was checking the settings and ran across a new term, vlan. could it be they are all connected to separate virtual networks? i tried to disable vlan, however, that just disconnected all the computers to the internet.

It connects to my work wifi network just fine (automatically) but I can't get it to connect to any wifi networks outside of work. If go to network settings and look at the wireless adapter and view available wifi networks, nothing comes up. It looks like the laptop has an alternative program that controls network adapter (Dell network adapter program) but it won't open when I double click it.

However,d despite lots of different setting changes, I can't connect to this Windows machine using Remote Desktop.

Since I no longer have my connectivity icon, I can not view the available networks, and therefore cannot select one to connect to. Only my home WIFI connection works. This is bad, since I will be moving soon and leaving my home network. I have tried every tutorial I have found.....my last resort would be reinstalling the OS...but I'm not even sure that would work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.
