View 4 Replies View RelatedA few hours ago I installed a Windows update, so my ACER Aspire 5733 restarted. I shut it down after the restart, not paying attention to the wireless. When I went to turn it back on, I couldn't get online because my home wireless connection has "Limited access."The icon signifying signal strength on the taskbar has a small yellow star-shaped dot on it. When I click on it, it pops up and says "Not connected. Connections are available. It then says my wireless network name and says "Limited access" next to it. The signal strength is excellent. When I disconnect and then reconnect it says the connection was unsuccessful because the computer has limited connectivity. The same network is working on my other laptop and on my iPod, but not on my Aspire 5733.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm totally new to Windows 7, I've read through a lot of the threads here but can't fix the problem.
I have a network of two vista Pc's connected to a router, no problems. But I can't get my new windows 7 laptop to join the network. The laptop connects to the router and internet fine, but can't see either PC. The PC can see the laptop sometimes, but can't access it - when I click to open get a 0x80070035 error. And once I change a combination of settings the PC can't see it anymore.
I have also tried connecting just to the router, turning off firewalls but that doesn't work either. File sharing is on, on all computers.
Unsure what to try next?
i've got a new laptop, running win7 home premium 64bit at the PC i have win7 ultimate 32bit
i've set the workgroup to be the same on both computers when i try to enter any of the computers (from the laptop to the PC or vice versa), i get the username / password screen there are no passwords on any of the users logged in to the windows and each system has only one user.
if i remember correctly, if both are on same workgroup, nothing else should be done in order to see shared folders.
I've read through these forums and tried to do everything I could to make it work but I cannot seem to get it connected. My XP network is an existing network and I am trying to add a windows 7 64 home edition machine. I can ping back and forth between all of the computers using IP and comp name. I can connect to the windows 7 machine from my XP machines but my XP machines do not show up on my windows 7 machine. They all have the same workgroup name. There is no software or firewall blocking them. I have all of the services running that I found in these forums and set them to automatic. I set my IPv4 to NetBIOS over TCP/IP. I don't know what else to do to make this work.

The folders necessary are shared, but when I try to connect to the computer on the network it asks me for a unsername and password. however, if the other computer tries to connect to mine, they get in no problem. We've tried a homegroup and I can't see any of the files in the folders.. I have read and read on the forums and tried everything I could..

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought an Ipad 4. Got home switched it on so it would connect to my home network. The ipad comes up with full signal strength and then says "The network you have chosen is not providing an internet connection". I use my lap-top with this Wi-Fi connection and my daughter uses her Ipod with the Wi-Fi connection. Why can't we get the Ipad to connect. We went to the library and the Ipad works fine with their Wi-Fi. I assume it's something to do with my router but I'm not very tech savvy so I'm not sure what to start fiddling with.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 computers all running 64bit Windows Home premium all have 802.11n cards. 2 have no problem connecting to the wireless network the 3rd can see the network but won't connect or has the dreaded yellow exclamation mark with limited connectivity.
This seems to be a windows issue but not sure. When I look at the wireless profile in windows it says the security is WEP but the router is set up as WPA-2. I have tried changing the setting in Windows to WPA-2 but that then generates another error in the network discovery window saying the settings are not correct or something to that effect.
1) I have reinstalled the driver didn't work.
2) I have removed the security altogether didn't work.
3) reset the router didn't work (Although as stated earlier the other 2 computers connect with no problems)
4) Deleted wireless profile and started again didn't work.
The following worked untill I restarted the computer but would not after that even if I applied the same steps.
1) Assigned a static IP - This worked but once I restarted the computer it would no longer connect. Tired different IP address from 192.168.1-149. No joy
2)Copied the network profile from both the other machines same result as #1.
I have just set up a wireless network, and my phone (android) can connect to it fine with the correct wep key, but my laptop (windows 7) cannot. it sees the network but when I try to connect it does not ask for a wep key, it just tells me it cannot connect. I have tried going into the 'network and sharing center' and connecting manually but no dice.

Just started having problems connection to any network or internet. Have new lappy that was working great until today. I am going out of town for a while and I was setting up my Slingbox. Somewhere along the line, I lost ANY connections, even to the router.
Have tried 3 different restore points. Can connect with wire to the router & get internet. HP, 64 bit.
I relocated to a new apartment and have been having problems connecting to the wireless router there. The laptop sees the network but it cannot connect to it
In my former house, I was connecting to the wireless network without problems. I have tried so many things which include;
Uninstalling the wireless card driver and restarting the system Installing windows update to update all the drivers disabling and re-enabling the wireless network etc but all could not resolve the issue,
I got my daughter a new Compaq CQ-57 laptop (Windows 7 sp1) and my other daughter a new Ipod touch. Started up the Ipod touch and connected to the wirless network no problem. Started up and tried to connect the new laptop to our wireless network and it will see the SSID and attempt to connect but never gets to the point of asking for the security passkey. It just puts me into turning off the router which does not help as all other devices in the house work or into the loop of trying over and over again to connect. I tried to connect to another secured network in our subdivision and it asks for their passkey. We have Verizon DSL using a Westell VersaLink 327W gateway, WEP enabled security. It is several years old but works great still. I currently have multipe devices connected with no issues. (2 Compaq CQ-60 laptops both Windows 7 sp1, 2 Ipod Touchs including the new one, WII game system from last year, 2 HTC Incredible cell phones, HP Photosmart B209A wireless printer). Not all devices are used at the same time. The gateway only has WEP security. I have tried to disable it and just have an open network, didnt work for the new computer.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a compaq presario cq57 notebook pc,windows7 home prem 64 bit)it was called Magicdisk, after trying for the last 3 months to uninstall this program(it would say INSTALL.LOG not found)i even did system restore to earlier setting but it was still on there, but after researching online someone told me to go to the program files in the hard drive and delete it from there,so that is what i did and it did work all program files were gone, now since i have done that 3 days ago i have had some pretty bad issues with my laptop.first it started with it telling me that my hard drive is gonna fail and to back up and a box pops up every 30 mins to remind me of this and every time i restart it says it in the bios and wants me to run a hard drive test but the same person told me not to worry because it is just a part of the 'magicdisk virus' and to just ignore it,so im wondering if this is true...now the next thing that happend 2 days ago my laptop quit connecting the wireless network, all the drivers r there and updated they r in the device manager as fine and working properly,i am connected with the etherport right now i have REALTEK RTL8188CE 802.11 B/G/N WIFI ADAPTER when i run diagnostics it says that i have a problem with the driver but i cant seem to find one and the only place my network shows up is in the LAN internet access REALTEK PCIe FAMILY CONTROLLER..it wont let me find a network manually it doesnt show up in manage wireless networks,if i disable the LAN then its not on here at all and it wont detect it so i am completely stumped as to what the problem is..i have tried it all!! uninstalling, reinstalling drivers, unplugging the router(although all my other wifi things work),restored to earlier date, changing channels,u name it i have probably tried it!!but like i said im new at this so there the possibility i wasnt doin it right.

this adapter was working fine for a few hours. the internet connection is cable, the adapter gets about two bars of connectivity, and now when i try to connect to network i get unable to connect to network. i have removed the wirless network, have added it back, entered the security key and nothing. i have a netgear wireless router. not sure what the deal is. i have made sure the power settings on the adapter are off, and this adapter doesnt seem to have the sleep mode option on it. windows 7 also found the drivers automatically. the machine is brand new, other machines/devices on in the house get to the internet just fine.
