i have noticed that when i am playing ,in ie9 or mozilla , for example a video on Internet, and minimize the window then the video doesn't have move when i put the pointer to watch it in small icon .i remember that in vista there wasnt this kind of issue or am i supposed to change something in properties .. the only way to see moving screen in small icon video is to have it on the main screen at the same time .
a couple of days ago my computer started getting blue screens of death, now sometimes my computer gets a small second freeze and makes a sound like the computers crashed before it fixes itself, if it doesnt freeze, it makes the same sound but blue screens instead and when it happens, the file that apparently crashes is different every time, for some reason the collection program isnt working for me either, it seems to freeze at steps as well when it is running the system info report, nothing else happens and the folder in my documents does not appear, ive had it run for 30 minutes and nothing's happeneds
Windows 7. Dell Latitude D610. I made changes in Properties (Appearance/Advanced), and somehow the task bar got huge and my icons are tiny. I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. Is there (1) some way to get my computer back to default status? (2) Which selection controls the task bar and the icons on the task bar?
I've got multiple users and the icons on the welcome screen are small. I would like to increase their size, but I have not been able to find a way to do it.
I know I can change all the icon sizes. I was wondering if its possible to have different sized icons on the desktop at the same time? Either inherently through windows 7 or through a 3rd party app? I'm running a business, I would like to have all business related icons large and all the others small.
Every so often i find that my desktop icons have moved from where i positioned them. The right click menu for auto arrange icons and align to grid are both unticked. My wife uses PC as well but she doesnt move them!I dont understand how Windows 7 might be moving them! i have AVG free, Spyware doctor and WIN 7 firewall all operating and never usually have any probs but theres a worry in the back of my mind that it could be an infection that is causing this as a "joke" virus.?
I have a desktop that's set up with the background of an office with empty shelves, and I put my icons on the shelves to make it look cool. Due to this, I don't have my icons set to be aligned to any sort of grid, I just move them where I want, making it frustrating to move them back into place. Now, I notice that from time to time some of the icons or folders on my desktop will be out of the place I put them in, and will have moved themselves back to the place they were prior to moving them into the place I want them to be. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I notice it happens with icons and/or folders that have recently been updated or had something new put in them.
does anyone knows a tweak or third party program that will prohibit the desktop icons from moving? i've tried desklock 1.2 and descklocker, they are good but they also have some personal issues that does not match the exact thing i need. i just want to prohibit the users from moving the desktop icons,
I have Windows 7 64. I have various programs 'pinned' to the taskbar, and this works great. However, if I have more than one Internet Explorer 9 window open, they often rearrange at random. The other open program icons stay in the same order, it's just within the IE9 windows that they get rearranged. For example, My Documents icon is the left most, then IE9 window 1, IE9 window 2, IE9 window 3, then a Word document window. If/when I go into one of the IE9 windows it will rearrange the order: I will still have My Documents on the left, but then IE9 window 2, IE9 Window 3, and IE9 window 1, and then the Word document will still be on the right. These IE9 Windows will randomly get rearranged throughout the day. I use these for work and would like to keep them in the same order.
I originally only had a HDD for my computer with Windows 7 on it. I got a 180 GB Intel SSD today and installed Windows 7 on it. When I installed I made sure to unplug the data cable on the HDD. After everything was installed I plugged the HDD in and made sure it booted the SSD in the BIOS.
I went into the HDD to open Steam thinking that it would open fine. It wanted me to update everything so I went ahead and did that. Then I noticed a ton of random icons on my desktop. I realized all of these were from the Steam folder. I have no idea why they're on my desktop. When I try to delete them off my desktop it won't let me, saying Steam is using it. Is there something I have to do to make my SSD and HDD work together?
Also with Steam; after I updated it none of my games were installed. They are all installed on the HDD but when I try to click on a game it wants me to install it again. One more thing, whenever I open a program in the HDD it wants to update and install it into the SSD

I created a few shortcuts from chrome and added them to my Taskbar for ease of use. I created one for each of my multiple Gmail accounts etc and I changed their icons to something so I can identify which was which. The shortcut's took the icon and worked fine for a short period than I noticed every time I click on the icon after changing the default icon to my new one It would change the icon back to Gmails default one.
all my icons on desktop and computer have turned to notepad icons... and they open with some text on notepad... looking for a solution to go back to normal settings...
Some of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.
I have been using Thunderbird for my e-mail account. Somehow, Thunderbird was updated to 10.0. Now my e-mail texts are so small that I can barely read them. I downloaded an application that allowed me to increase the size of the fonts in the listing. However, the messages are still small. I tried setting the options to a larger font but that did not work. Two questions: Is there some way to increase the size of the text in both the email list and the messages. Two, can I just remove the new version and download an earlier version of Thunderbird. I don't know what version I was using, but I was perfectly satisfied with it.
I installed Win 7RC 32 onto a 160 GB hard disk which I partitioned. I allocated about 25 GB to C: system, and formatted the rest on to a D: drive for data. I've found that this may have been a mistake, as getting program installations to default over to D: are problematic (and not recommended by Microsoft, as per some previous threads I've read here).
And so I am running out of C space, and have several programs "manually" installed over to D. Quite frankly this is a pain, and I am about ready to throw in the towel and just try to extend the C drive. But maybe there is a way to avoid?
My question is this: what's my best approach to correct all this? Specifically, I'd like (if it is possible) for all my libraries/directories to default to D: so that I can readily reinstall Windows 7 (or downgrade) the C: System drive should it become necessary. This was my original goal and hope. I was able to have this with XP, although that was some time ago and I forgot the steps.
Anyone have an good suggestions for me, or should I just extend C: and give up this idea?
