View 5 Replies View RelatedThe point is that I get to receive a Windows Vista boot screen while I boot it on her screen. But when I connect it on another monitor it will show Windows 7's. Is it because of the resolution? Does the Windows 7's boot screen needs a minimum resolution to boot that is higher than 800 x 600?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm upgrading from Vista Home Premium (64-bit) to Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) and I think it is almost done (the last step I remember was the last one on the list). However, when it restarted, the screen is now changing from red to bright green, to blue, to gray, darker gray, gradient white/gray, black, and repeat. Is it supposed to do this? It seems like the hard drive is still active as the indicator light flickers, but I haven't seen any tutorial that mentions this happening. It kind of looks like the colors are being tested or something but it's been going on for maybe 20 minutes now?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just bought entirely new system about 4 months go or so, this has been a self build. The issues first had was whenever i select to shut down windows it starts shutting down and as it gets to the point where it actually is supposed to turn off it suddenly blue screens and then goes into a restarting boot! this is hugely frustrating as when i select shut down i want it to shut down not blue screen and restart. I formatted my machine about a month ago as the issue was getting extremely repetitive, once formatted everything worked great until just the other day it started again it is not as frequent as it used to be, it only happens once every 2 weeks or so. I know its not viruses as i run KIS and malwarebytes and regularly scan the system for any issues, i dont think its hardware because the system is new and i have used the best parts, also i dont think it is frequent enough to be hardware.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI`m having serious problems with my windows 7 machine. It started yesterday when I was getting blank screens. TOday I turned on and its running very slow, freezing up and i noticed an svchost.exe process was using about 6gb of ram. I had to reboot about 5 times just to geta taskmanager up and then it would freeze up again. I tried a windows restore to about 4 days before incase it was some virus but it hasnt fixed the problem. Everything is ok in safe mode and i`ve tried running dr web virus checker aswell as installing norton antivirus and malwarebytes on an old windows xp installation on the same pc but theyre not finding anything.
Really dont fancy having to reinstall windows.
I recently have been getting blue shutdown screens on my laptop. I will give you plenty of information about my computer. I put all the information about the Blue screen dump files and my System Information file in an attachment. I hope this helps. I recently found out you could save the System Information file as a text and also as an .exe. This is how it happens, I will be using my computer and then the computer will become very slow and unresponsive. It is not completely unresponsive but it will be so slow that I cannot use it, then after about 3 minutes of this slow unresponsiveness the blue screen will show up and say driver power state failure and shutdown. I recently formatted the computer because it had been doing this before so I restored it back to factory defaults about one month ago.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEver since we've got this desktop we seem to have problems with the screens. It's like it randomly chooses different worlds to reside in. We turn on our computer and then it's just our background picture with no taskbar or programs, but if we just turn the monitor off and then on again it goes back to our regular screen. Then once our screensaver picks up and we decide to get back on, it does it again and so on. Sometimes when we minimize things it disappears off into those other worlds (off to the right side of the computer screen somewhere). Does anyone have any clue as to why this is going on? Is there a way to delete those other "worlds" that my computer visits every so often and that all my stuff likes to travel to?

since I have two screens connected to my PC anyway, I wonder now whether two people could use one PC at the same time, using two different USB mice.
One person would play Mah-Jong on one screen while the other person would use the internet on the other screen.
I think it's called mutliseat.
On my primary monitor I've run a 360 and my Windows 7 p.c into it. I've set up a shortcut hotkey so that I can disable the primary to swap to the 360 when needs be. However I'd like to be able to access the web whilst using my 360 without having to cycle through the monitor menu to swap back. So I got my old monitor on my desk, however I can't think what to do with it. It's got a lower resolution than my primary so simply making it the secondary whenever I want to use the 360 isn't viable (it messes up the icons).
I can't think of any work around, using ultramon and shrinking the main image isn't very good either due to it having both delay and a lower framerate even at the the highest systme usage settings. Can you guys think of any work arounds? I've tried saving the icon positions but then firefox still opens in the main monitor. I really would like to swap monitors on the fly with a hotkey and restore icons later.
would like to add a 3rd monitor to my PC, I understand I need a Graphics card that can support 3 monitors, I think this is ports AGP DMI HDMI if the initials are wrong I am sorry, anyhoo I then have 3 ports to plug into, the question is.. Stay with me I have 2 Hanns G 23" monitors and a HP 24", I would like the HP to be the centre one, in which I do most of my work, the other 2 which I hope can be left and right of centre, going with the graphics card at the moment, I have screen (1) and screen (2) it was simple setup, but I have to push my mouse to the right to get into my 2nd screen thats sits on my left, ok I could place this screen on my right, it's not the point, when I get the 3rd screen will I have the flexibility to make the centre screen i.e the one that will hold my icons etc number 1 screen, then in a perfect world push the mouse to the right and I am in the RH screen, or push the mouse to the left (from centre screen) and I am in the LH screen?

When I'm using my computer I tend to get a black screen at random times. So far they usually occur while I'm browsing the web and while I'm playing games while on Skype. This happened before and the problem was that I needed a new DVI cable. After getting it fixed it was working fine until about a week ago where I started getting few crashes. Now I'm getting 1 crash everyday. There are times where I go to start my computer, but after the Windows logo I am left with a black screen. I usually keep restarting my computer until it turns on normally. I don't know why but I have a hunch that it might be PSU, temperature, or compatibility problems.I'm not sure if I've attached everything you need, so do let me know if I'm missing anything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOut of the box, Windows 7 does not allow for the Windows Menu and Taskbar to appear independently on two screens when running on dual monitors in extended desktop mode. This forces one to have to move the cursor (sometimes a long way, if we're talking about high res displays) from the second screen to the main screen in order to access resources on the Windows Menu and Taskbar. Is there a registry hack that makes the Windows Menu and Taskbar appear on both screens while in extended desktop mode?
If not, I challenge the customization gurus around here to develop one. A couple of you rose to the occasion when I asked about changing the taskbar click behavior. This is saving me tons of time (even if time has no mass, and only wait)!

when i try to install i get an error saying my processor is not supported or something.
Ok i got one of those store bought laptops that comes with vista basic and a whole bunch of mess and non-needed partitions. So i decided to just install windows 7 over the top.
I started the install app, deleted all the partitions and created a new one using all the unallocated space. Then i installed windows 7 to the new partition.
It installed fine, booted for the first time, i was tired so i shut it down and went to bed.
The next morning i turned it on it looked like it was booting fine but then it went straight to start up repair, the start up repair went for about 30 minutes and said no solution could be found. I tried a couple more times, every time the start up repair would take longer to say the same thing, until it simply started blue screening shortly after "Starting Windows".
So i decided to try reinstalling over the top, i put the installation disk in started the setup it loaded files and said "Starting Windows" shortly after it blue screened.
So now i had no clue what was happening, i managed to get into start up repair somehow, don't remember, and got into command prompt, from there i formatted the partition deleting all files on the disk. I then tried to boot to check if the format was successful and it said no bootmgr etc was found, so i determined the hard-drive was now clean.
So i put the installation disk in and booted from it, same thing loaded files, "Starting Windows", blue screen. I have no clue what is going on here and would appreciate any help, i am beginning to think it is a hardware error og some sort.
I have installed 7 on my desktop. When i boot i get that new funky glowing logo. which is nice.
Now, when i install it on my acer one netbook i get the old drab vista bar.
Now would i be right in assuming that its something to do with the graphics card on the machines? If not can anyone point me in the right direction. Its not a problem to me im just curious as to why its done that.
I recently installed two 1920x1080 monitors onto my Win 7 RC 7100. I have them running through DVI out of my 1g NVidia 9800GT. Everything looks and works great, until i try to run MC on one monitor while i play around on the other.
First MC doesnt like 2 monitors so i have to use the windows key to make it lose focus if its in full screen. Even if i use windowed mode eventually it will eventually lock up must be restarted.
Has anyone else worked with MC on a dual screen setup?
